When the Book of Mormon is placed in the hands of the US President

Dear Family and Friends,

Reading about Bro. Ram Baral’s testimony of his meeting with the President of these United States of America a week ago (on May 1, 2019) was truly encouraging, especially since their meeting afforded Bro. Baral an opportunity to share words of wisdom and counsel from the Book of Mormon with President Trump. Here is a link to a summary of his testimony for your reference:

As many others had done, our family prayed for Bro. Baral and the President in the weeks and days leading up to their meeting. I was also led to fast the morning of their meeting while in prayer for them. Later that same day, while praying during the Wednesday evening prayer service, the following scripture came to mind:

D&C 83:7a – And now I give unto you a commandment to beware concerning yourselves, to give diligent heed to the words of eternal life; for you shall live by every word that proceedeth forth from the mouth of God.

So I responded by praying according to this scripture after the following manner:

“O Lord, how can your covenant people keep the commandment to beware concerning themselves by giving diligent heed to the words of eternal life if the Book of Mormon is not opened unto them? O Lord, bring your words unto your people so they might feast upon them. Bring them out of darkness and obscurity by your words. Open this precious record unto them. Free the Book from any association of false teachings or doctrines or traditions. Bring your ancient covenant people to the knowledge of their records and of their forefathers who wrote them. Lift your people up by the truth of your words so they might come to the knowledge of their Redeemer and the very points of His doctrine so they may know how to come unto Him and be saved. Open up the Way unto them, O Lord, so that they might give diligent heed to the words of eternal life. …”

As I thus prayed, I was assured that the Lord had set an open door before Bro. Baral to present the Book of Mormon and its message to the President of this “Gentile” nation (see I Nephi 7:15-25). I was also reminded of another time in which a President of these United States had evidently read the Book of Mormon at a time when the nation was divided – as it is now.

In his book, The Lincoln Hypothesis, Timothy Ballard (who fought sex trafficking as a DHS special agent) discusses how Abraham Lincoln checked out the Book of Mormon from the Library of Congress. Then, after having it for eight months, the President checked it back in to the library seven days after issuing his first draft of the Emancipation Proclamation. Like in Abraham Lincoln’s time, this nation is once again divided. Please continue to pray with us that President Trump will heed the wisdom given in the Book of Mormon and God’s purposes in bringing it forth in these latter days to this nation. For I truly believe that by placing the Book of Mormon once again in the hands of a US President, the Lord has given us another opportunity, perhaps even the final opportunity as a nation, to carry out His purposes outlined in this precious record.
