Dale Carrick February 8, 1930 — November 15, 2023 Dale Edward Carrick, born on February 8, 1930, peacefully departed this world on November 15, 2023, at the age of 93. Born to Bert and Vera Carrick in Pine River Township, Michigan, Dale's legacy is one of unwavering commitment, kindness, and a profound dedication to his faith. Dale's journey included a remarkable seventy-three-year marriage to Priscilla (Pat) Markham, and together they raised their nine children in Vestaburg, Michigan, and later in Independence, Missouri. His tireless work ethic was evident throughout his life, from teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in the 1940’s, to his role in accounting at the General Electric and Hitachi Magnetics plant in Edmore, Michigan. Moving to Independence in 1977, Dale embraced a new chapter as a general contractor until his retirement. Yet, his true passion lay in church ministry from serving as a Pastor to various leadership roles, including District President of the South-Central Michigan District of the RLDS Church. Dale's impact extended to the Montcalm County Michigan Mental Health Board as Chairman and the Vestaburg Community Schools Board of Education as Secretary/Treasurer. Dale also served in a multitude of leadership and ministerial positions in the Independence area. Dale's missionary spirit took him across the globe, from Europe to Africa, embodying his commitment to spreading the message of Jesus Christ. Dale most recently attended the restoration group, Church of Jesus Christ-Children of God. Known for his warmth and approachability, Dale never met a stranger, always ready to share his personal testimony. His love for poetry and songwriting added a creative dimension to his life. Dale is preceded in death by his wife, Priscilla (Pat), parents, Bert and Vera Carrick, his sisters, Ida Sandusky and Ellen Markham, and brother, Bert Carrick, Jr., brother-in-law Wayne Woodrow (Nina), sister-in-law, Karen Carrick (Bert, Jr.), son David, daughter-in-law Becky (Mark Carrick), and great-granddaughter Violet. Dale is survived by his brother, Ron Carrick (Louise), sisters, Nina Woodrow, Nancy Fox (Phil), and his loving children, Vicki VanNoy, Susan McConnell (Bob), daughter-in-law Teresa Carrick, Cathy Vreeland (Glenn), Mark Carrick (Beth), Jonathon Carrick, Benjamin Carrick, Sarah Weston Floyd (Louis), and Teresa Commander, thirty-one grandchildren, and thirty-two great-grandchildren. Dale will be missed by his hundreds of close cousins and relatives. His cheerful demeanor, unyielding faith, and uplifting spirit left an indelible mark on his family, friends, and the church community. A celebration of Dale's remarkable life will be held at a later date, honoring a man who, even on his worst day, radiated joy and left a legacy of love that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. |
