MARCH 2018 Monthly Tidings of Zion

Greetings to the Saints around the world,

Entering into the third month of this year, we are MARCHing on toward the Kingdom of God, hopefully. The CRE is continuing to plan and prepare for the annual Reunion/Conference in Independence, Missouri June 24-29, 2018. Information and schedules will be in the next regular issue of Tidings of Zion, which is at the printers at this time and should be in the mail in a week or so. Information can also be obtained by going to the CRE website at eldersconference.org. The next Tidings will also contain 2018 camp, reunion, and calendar events schedules as well as some vibrant testimonies from six elders in the Center Place.

The Pastors of Zion (POZ) held a combined Sacrament Service at Waldo Avenue Restoration Branch/Center Place Restoration School on Sunday, March 4, 2018. More than 550 were in attendance, representing over ten branches. It was a very good service and a joy to be among so many Saints.

The Missionary Boards that function under the CRE are very active and sending forth missionary teams into all the world. (ARM) African Restoration Ministries is sponsoring two missions to Africa in March. A team consisting of Elder Doug Smith, Elder Val and Anita Brotherton, Sylvia Powell, and Marilyn Middleton will be in Kenya March 8-20 to conduct a women's retreat and other ministry. On March 6-20, Elders Chris Capps and Eric Woolery will be in Rwanda and will also visit the Saints from the Congo.

The Southeast Asia and Australian Ministries Board, (SEAAM) is sponsoring a mission to Australia March-May. Elders Kevin Humphrey and Tom Rindels leave Tuesday, March 6. Elder Humphrey will return about April 11 and Elder Rindels about May 8. They will be holding Sunday services in Tamworth, Townsville, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Euroa while visiting many of the Saints around the country. Missions to India, Nepal, the Philippines and other areas will take place in April and May.

Elder Brian Mundy has recently completed missions to England and Germany and plans to return in May. Europe is part of the mission field for (GEM) Greater European Ministries.

The CRE Domestic Outreach program is functioning, as well. Elder John Mundy is currently ministering in Arizona and California. Gary and Michael Livingston from Salem, Oregon will be visiting Saints in the Stoney Creek, Ontario Canada area in late March.

Center Place Restoration School is presenting the 27th Annual Restoration Celebration Spring play, "The Masterpiece." The play will be at 7pm on March 30-31 in the school auditorium at 819 W. Waldo Avenue, Independence, Missouri.

TIME TO PONDER:

Perhaps you have heard of the "Clouds Over Zion" experience of Ray Huggett, back in 1958. Sister Hope Richards wrote a song, some years ago, entitled, "Is Zion Just a Dream?" Seemingly, there are still clouds over Zion which keep it from becoming a reality. A suggestion was once made to Obtain, Retain, Maintain, Sustain, and thus Gain "Zion."

Obtain: Set the goal, list your objectives, "see the picture," Get the Vision of Zion!

Retain: Hang on to your dreams, cling to the Rod of Iron, store the word of God in your heart and show it in your life.

Maintain: Guard against invasion by the adversary or anyone or anything that would try to "erase" your vision. Nurture and cherish the vision of Zion.

Sustain: Obey God's commandments, meet together often with the Saints, pray, fast, study, worship, visit and Live for JESUS AND ZION!

Gain: THE KINGDOM OF GOD ON EARTH

ZION THE BEAUTIFUL

THE PRESENCE OF JESUS CHRIST, OUR LORD AND SAVIOR!

How long did it take Enoch to establish his Zion? Genesis 6:26 and 7:76-78. We still have ten months left in this year.

In and With Christ:

It is not so much where you have been, but where are you going?

It is not so much that you have been hurt, but will you heal?

It is not so much what you have done, but what you will do.

It is not so much whether you have fallen, but will you get up?

It is not so much that you are suffering, but how you bear your suffering.

It is not so much who you are, but who you can be IN CHRIST!

Bearing the Cross: Thomas a Kempis

Jesus hath many lovers of His Heavenly Kingdom, but few bearers of His Cross; He hath many desirous of consolation, but few of tribulation; He findeth many companions of His table, but few of His abstinence; All desire to rejoice with Him, but few are willing to endure anything for Him or with Him; Many follow Jesus into the breaking of bread, but few to the drinking of the Cup of His Passion, many reverence His miracles, but few follow Him to the Cross.

A Bit of Homely Philosophy

A philosopher said, once, that we could not prevent the birds from flying over our heads, but we could prevent them from building nests in our hair. We may not always be able to force or keep our thoughts altogether in subjection; but we can prevent them from making us do or say what is reprehensible. He that overcometh himself, you know, is greater than he that taketh a city. Do not let those evil or pernicious thoughts find lodgment, any of them, brethren, in your hearts, to continue there." Joseph Smith III, Conference Minutes, 1907. page 1024.

O GOD, FORGIVE,
I THOUGHT YOU HEARD NOT ME WHEN IT WAS I IN MY DESPAIR, WHO HEARD NOT THEE.
MARGE MACHART

The Monthly-on-line-Tidings of Zion is an effort by the CRE to stay in closer contact with the Saints around the world. The regular Tidings of Zion is still published quarterly and the current issue should be in the homes by late March.

All are encouraged to send in testimonies, experiences, events, activities, etc. from families, groups, branches, or individuals. All contact information is always printed on the inside front cover of each issue of Tidings of Zion.
