Day of Fasting and Prayer - April 18

Greetings Dear Saints and Friends,

Holy Week has come and gone and we know Jesus Christ arose from the dead and appeared to many as evidence that He was and is alive.

1 Corinthians 15 is an excellent scripture giving much information about those who saw Jesus alive after His Resurrection and the importance of the Resurrection. Verses 54-58 are especially strengthening to the believers.

Another scripture which gives much evidence to the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is 3 Nephi 5-14. How many people saw Jesus as mentioned in 3 Nephi 8:27.

To back up to Holy Week, looking at Matthew 26:27 and Mark 14:27 we read that after the supper, they sang a hymn and went out to the mount of Olives. What hymn did they sing? Maybe Redeemer of Israel or the Old, Old, Path? According to Jewish Passover customs, during the feast they would sing Psalms 113-118 with psalm 118 being the last hymn. These were called "Hallel", Jewish for "Praise", which is a Jewish prayer or verbatim recitation of Psalms 113-118. It is likely that Jesus and His disciples sang Psalm 118 before leaving the upper room. You can read psalm 118 and see what connection there is to what was happening with Jesus as well as the strength we can get from reading it.

Please keep in mind and maybe mark your calendars, that each Sunday has been designated as a Day of Fasting and Prayer, mainly for the coming of the KIngdom of God on earth. God bless you in your efforts.
