LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD SEPTEMBER 1, 2022

September greetings and God’s blessings to all the Saints,

September, like all the months have an interesting history, which anyone can discover on the internet. It is a changing of the seasons. In the northern hemisphere it is the leading into Autumn or Fall, while in the southern hemisphere it leads to Spring.

September has a lot of significance for the United States and the Church and has important connections to the Jewish feast days. In the USA, September 17 is “Constitution Day.” The Constitution is mentioned in Doctrine and Covenants Sections 95:2 and 98:10. The Constitution was inspired by God to provide citizens of this nation the privilege to worship and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is vital to all people as we are living in the Kingdom of God, as we may not always have that privilege. One person, this week, made this reference about a fellow church member, “What made the presentation exciting was his dedication to Zion and living by the Celestial Law.” Do these qualities “show” in our daily walk?

September is important in the Church as it was September 21, 1823 that Joseph Smith

Jr. had his angelic visit regarding the plates which became the Book of Mormon. Joseph was able to obtain the plates on September 22, 1827. You can refresh your memory of these events in Church History, Volume 1, pp 6-18. So, we might ask, “What does that have to do with our living in the Kingdom of God today?” Each person must answer that for themselves.

Sunday, September 25, 2022 is “Rosh Hashanah” or “The Feast of Trumpets,” a time of anticipation of the return of Jesus Christ. Was it a “coincidence” that Joseph had these experiences in September? Some may hold fast to coincidences, but God does not deal in coincidences. His plan is sure and will not fail, therefore, we must be on daily alert, anxious for our Lord to return as He said. A number of priesthood from various areas will be in the Kirtland Temple Saturday and Sunday, September 24-25, 2022. Again, no coincidence. They have prepared a Preparation Guide which is available to all. Let us all support this effort and see what God has in store for us.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:16 that He has given us to be the light of the world. We are not the light without Him and we are to let our light shine before the world, that those around us may see our good works, and glorify our Father who is in heaven. As we live in the Kingdom of God, we are to let that light shine, shine, shine.

God Bless
Paul Gage
