Gary Hawley Update
Thank you saints for the outpouring of love and support that has blessed the Hawley family. Dad's amputation and recovery have been amazing. His determination to submit his body and will to God has allowed him to press forward with faith. To the amazement of the hospital staff he wanted to stand just hours after the surgery. Thankfully common sense prevailed and he rested. Since then he has been healing quickly and is able to hop with a walker across his room. For two nights he has been able to go without pain meds. Surely this has been a manifestation of God's answer to the many prayers offered on Dad's behalf.
The surgeon decided to delay the second surgery on his "good" leg until today. They performed an angiogram and We're able to encourage good blood flow. This will hopefully strengthen his "good" leg enough to support his weight. The doctors are predicting that Dad will need to stay another 2-3 weeks in the hospital.
Those who have been able to visit or have called or texted Dad have lifted his spirits. Many people have lightened the burdens of his heart. When the hospital staff have interacted with the saints, the staff have shared with Dad and Mom "how nice" our friends are. We heartily agree. We are so blessed!
Please continue to pray for Dad to remain free from infection and to gain strength. His heart is willing and his faith is sustaining. Also pray for the many challenges we will face as Dad still needs to work for an income.
