Update on Evelyn

From:  Penny Curtis

Update on Evelyn

Dear praying warriors,

Evelyn has been released from the hospital in Lilongwe to go to the hospital in Ntcheu. I'm really concerned about the care that she will receive there. It is a very small local hospital and not equipped for this type of injury.

She has also been experiencing severe headaches.  Her eyes seem to be ok and her eyesight has not been affected.

I have heard of a children's hospital in Blantyre Malawi and am trying to get information and a way for her to get there.

We need to pray that she will be healed completely, no infections and pain under control. Prayers that we will be able to get the very best possible care for her and there will be no obstacles to get that care.
Also, prayers for the staff members as they try to do the best they can for all the children.

I'm sending an updated picture of our dear little sister.

Sarah Neill Cornish - Obituary

Sarah Neill Cornish (Sally), 79, of Independence, passed away on September 24, 2020at St. Luke’s Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.  She was a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and teacher.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Sally Neill was born August 25, 1941 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  She enjoyed a wonderful childhood with her parents Dick and Ruth Neill and siblings Judi and Rich in Runnemede, NJ.  She attended Triton High School and was named the school’s first Female Athlete of the Year.

Sally attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa and Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg, Missouri.  During this time, she earned a bachelors in Elementary Education and met her husband Verle.

Sally married Verle Cornish shortly after her graduation and, one year later, moved to Pennsylvania where Mrs. Cornish continued her teaching career while Verle pursued a master’s degree.

In1968, Sally’s teaching career paused while she turned her attention to her own children. She became a mother first, to Sarah Jane then, to Rebecca Jean. In 1977, the family moved to Texas and welcomed Peter Verle to the family.

Mrs. Cornish resumed teaching in 1985 at Advent Episcopal School in Stafford, Texas.  She taught second grade and then moved to first grade the next year, impacting hundreds of students, until the family moved to Independence, Missouri in 1996.

Mrs. Cornish became the second grade teacher at Center Place Restoration School in1997, providing education and ministry to her students until her retirement in 2014.

Sally Cornish lived a fruitful life full of love, guidance, education, and ministry.  She was often outspoken for the things she cared about most.   She spent many years providing ministry alongside her husband of 47 years.  She spent her life in the pursuit of her Heavenly Father until she succumbed to the frailties of the body and a life well lived.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Margaret Ruth Neill and her husband Verle Cornish.  She is survived by her daughters Sarah and Rebecca(Amr); son Peter (Erin) and their children Eli, Millie, Esther, and Adella; sister Judi (Ed) Gizelbach; brother Richard (Robin) Neill;  sisters-in-law Valdeen (Lowell) Wooton and Verna (Dave) Cornish; brother-in-law Vaughn(Kathleen) Cornish; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Waldo Avenue Restoration Branch October 4, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.

Biting, Scratching, Hitting, Kicking?

From:  Holly McLean

Biting, Scratching, Hitting, Kicking?

If you are having trouble figuring out how to teach your child not to bite, hit, kick or scratch others, this short video will give you a step by step plan so you will know to do to.  Children tend to behave aggressively toward others when they get frustrated, and in the church nursery, this can be a problem just like day care or preschool.  No worries!

This video will not only give you are plan, but will also help you know how to involve the teachers or childcare workers in it so you know things will be consistent when they are not with you.  If you have any questions, please write to holly@mommyanswerlady.com!

Happy Parenting!

Prayer Request for Evelyn Chimbalame

From: Penny Curtis

Prayer Request for Evelyn Chimbalame

We are asking for immediate prayers for Evelyn Chimbalame.  She was in an accident at the Youth Home.  She is 11 years old and one of the children that were brought in within the last two weeks.
She was helping with the cooking tasks and hot oil splashed up in her face.  The Director took her to the capital of Malawi which is in Lilongwe to the hospital.  He said that the burns are serious.  Especially her eyesight.
Please!  Join with fervent prayers for a healing!
Another child, Maclean fell while playing football in the yard of the home and broke his arm.  He has been casted.
Please pray for protection for all the children.

October 2020 Australian Restoration News

      OCTOBER.  2020.

Around and About the Centre Place   by High Priest Paul J. Gage, Independence, Missouri

Time marches on and waits for no man, or person. It certainly often seems that time is speeding up or I am getting slower. Doctrine and Covenants 83:16 speaks to the conditions of the world as well as our lives and says ":until I have completed my work, which shall be cut short in righteousness." Verse 17 then speaks of our hope in the Kingdom. Everything God has done, is doing, and will do is beyond our human comprehension and therefore we lack, to some extent, the ability to truly appreciate God's love. As the seasons come and go, people make various preparations for each season. Each day of our lives is a "new season," so what do we do to prepare for each day and of course, our life?  Sanctification seems to be an aspect of the gospel that we like to hear about, but don't want to take the action necessary for us to become "sanctified." Sanctification and sacrifice go together, hand in hand. To sanctify our lives, we must sacrifice those things that keep us from being sanctified. This is brought to our attention in Doctrine and Covenants 85:16-21. This scripture is worthy of an in-depth study and application by each one who has made a covenant with the Lord. Entering God's Kingdom is not an automatic thing that just happens. No one will simply walk into God's Kingdom with no effort to make sure they have on the "wedding garment." This is referenced in Matthew 22:1-14. DC 85 is filled with a great amount of instruction that is given for us to prepare ourselves. Be sure to read verse 20 a and b. In verse b we are told several things that we must do on our own, and yet the major part of the cleansing of our lives is done by the Lord, after we do what we are instructed to do Also see DC 81:3.The CRE missionary groups continue to be as active as possible. A team of five, from Salem, Oregon, just returned from a trip to Kenya in Africa. However, there are still some countries we cannot get into. Center Place Restoration School has successfully completed a matching fund drive for upgrading the school/Waldo facility. So far, the first five rows of pews have been replaced by chairs and all the sanctuary lighting has been replaced. Students returned to school in September prayer for the Saints in Australia and the world is that God will continue to open those doors of ministry to each of us as we work toward sanctifying our lives for His Divine purposes.

                                                COMFORT  ZONE

There’s a popular saying that ‘nothing really great ever happens in your comfort zone.’ Life with God can be like that. In Luke 5, we see Jesus instruct Simon to take his boat further and further out into the Lake of Gennesaret.

First, this is so that Jesus can preach to the people, and then so Simon can catch masses of fish that he wasn’t expecting. Sometimes God asks us to move away from shore because there are important things out in deep waters. Not all of us are fishermen, so moving away from the safety of the shore can be uncomfortable. However, Jesus shows us through His interaction with Simon that He only calls us out when there’s work to be done, and good things to be netted. If there’s an opportunity or gifting that you’ve been unsure about moving into, this could be the encouragement you need to step out of that comfort zone. If you check in with God and ask Him to keep you within His plan, He’ll have His hand on whatever happens next.

Ask Him to open the right doors, and close the wrong ones. That doesn’t mean the way forward will necessarily be easy, or that you’ll be guaranteed success. It does mean that God has you and will lead you. Just like He said to Joshua, ‘Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’ (Joshua 1:9). When we keep close to Him, God is right at our side in everything that we do. Whether we’re in our comfort zone, or whether we move outside of it, He’s there with us to protect us and make a way.

Matthew 24 v 27. For as the light of the morning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west, and covereth the whole earth; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

v 30. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there shall be famine and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places.

v 31 And again, because iniquity shall abound, the love of men shall wax cold; but he that shall not be overcome, the same shall be saved.

v 32 And again, this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world, for a witness unto all nations, and then shall the end come, or the destruction of the wicked.

Luke 21: v 24--28.  Now these things he spake unto them, concerning the destruction of Jerusalem. And then his disciples asked him, saying, Master, tell us concerning thy coming.? And he answered them, and said, In the generation in which the times of the Gentiles shall be fulfilled, there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations with perplexity, like the sea and the waves roaring. The earth also shall be troubled, and the waters of the great deep; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth, For the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up and lift up your heads, for the day of your redemption draweth nigh. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud, with power and great glory,

 Elder Murray Broughton.
