Legalization of marijuana threatens to our city's children and families, escalating our downward spiral of drugs and sex trafficking. Brother Dennis Cato and a group of concerned leaders met November 28th to discuss the city's decline and how we can change course for the better. The group felt strongly that the answer lies with the insights and actions of all followers of Christ in all churches in the area. We all felt a call to arms and action.
Meth and other drugs have overwhelmed Independence families for decades and our children are at extreme risk now that they have easy, uncontrolled, unpoliced access to marijuana. We are in the second and third generation of abused, neglected, and exploited children. Churches have focused on feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, housing the homeless, all of them evidence of bad fruit. To eradicate these things, it's the tree and roots that bear that fruit that needs to be our focus. Let's do away with injustices caused by the enemy. Let's call the city to the awareness that Jesus counts every injustice and will recompense all wrongs done to His children. We must do things differently than we have in the past. God has His solutions to all of our problems. There is power in ONE and we individually can do so much when we align ourselves with God. We need all the ONES we can get. Then, there is more power in many ONES who with the guidance of the Holy Spirit will take down the enemy's trees that bear bad fruit.
Rally for Independence is a strategy session to address ways individuals, churches, women's ministries, and non-profits can network together to address aggressively the root causes of homelessness and child endangerment, support our city in positive ways, and encourage Kingdom building solutions to these problems. Everyone has a part to play. We have some Spirit led ideas and we are looking for others who are willing, earnest, dedicated followers of Christ to attend this session and offer what you have to the great cause of saving our city.
