Woodstock Inn Bed and Breakfast is a 10-room inn right across from the auditorium and a half mile from the historic square in Independence, Missouri. It has been a bed and breakfast since the 1980’s, and I have owned it for the last 10 years. I have enjoyed two great managers in those years, and I am now looking for my next manager. There are two scenarios that are possible as indicated below.

(NOTE: I'M CURRENTLY HIRING FOR ONE OF THE FOLLOWING TWO POSSIBLE POSITIONS, NOT BOTH.)

1. Assistant Innkeeper and Entrepreneur

If you are creative and hankering to open your own business in a baking related field, this might be your perfect opportunity. We can work out a combination of payment and space/work exchange. I have a commercial kitchen, and I’m willing to trade some time in the kitchen for some assistance at the inn. I have spaces that would work for baking and for selling. I need 15-20 hours of help mostly on the weekends. Pay is $12-15 per hour depending on experience and level of duties. Some or all of that can be traded for time in the kitchen and setting up shop.

Hours and duties include:

Friday 1-7 pm Shop for groceries, make snacks for guests, check in guests, prep for breakfast
Saturday 7 am-12 Make breakfast, check out guests, clean and organize (Sometimes 3-7 pm)
Sunday 7 am -12 Make breakfast, check out guests, clean and organize (We can trade off Sundays so that at least one of us can make it to church.)

Pay and benefits:

$12-15 per hour depending on experiences and level of duties. 15-20 hours per week. An Increase in pay after 90 days and good reviews. One of the best benefits is that you meet new people, and guests love you if you are good at hospitality! It’s fun!

2. General Manager/Innkeeper

If you love to cook, organize, decorate, and enjoy meeting new people, this may be the position for you! This is a full time position (40 hours per week) with days off usually Tuesdays and Wednesdays. However, there is some flexibility in work hours and time off depending on when guests are at the inn. Pay is $12-16 per hour depending on experience.

Hours and duties include:

7 a.m -12 Breakfast, guest check out, and clean up. 3:30-6:30 p.m. Afternoon snack presentation and guest check in. This is the schedule usually 3-4 days of the week. The other 1-2 days are spent taking reservations, marketing, inn maintenance, cleaning, organizing, decorating, creating menus, and other general managing duties.

Pay and benefits:

$12-15 per hour depending on experience. 40 hours per week. Some flexibility in hours. Bonus structure added after 90 days and good reviews. One of the best benefits is that guests love you if you are good at hospitality! Rarely do you get such instant and regular kudos in a job. It’s fun!
