Wilma June Canfield, of Independence, MO, peacefully passed away at her home on Thursday, June 15, 2023. She was 90. Born on May 22, 1933, to George and Viola Seymour, Wilma June lived in Buchanan, MI for almost half of her life. It was in Buchanan, at the age of 12, where she met George Victor “Vic” Canfield, her sweetheart. They married in 1948, when she was 15, and spent 69 years together until his death in 2017. They adopted three boys, Jeffrey, Timothy, and Brian. The Canfield family moved to Independence, MO in 1976 where Vic and Wilma June would spend the rest of their lives as faithful members of the RLDS church. She loved music, often playing the autoharp and singing at church. Wilma June will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, two siblings, and her husband. She is survived by her brother, Dennis Seymour (Judy), her sons, Jeffrey (Susan), Timothy (Kelly), Brian (Amanda), and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. The memorial service for Wilma June will be on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 2:00pm at the Buckner Restoration Branch (2607 N Twyman Rd Independence MO 64058).
