MARCH 2022
AROUND AND ABOUT THE CENTRE PLACE
By High Priest Paul J. Gage, of Independence, Missouri
To the precious Saints in Australia, Greetings in Jesus' Name,
Two months of 2022 have come and gone and here we are "Marching" on. Marching on to Zion as we strive to live in the Kingdom of God. I think everyone gets an extra "kick," when they see a marching band, troop of soldiers, or something of that nature. It seems to cause a surge of adrenaline within our bodies that gets us "excited." Are you/we "excited" about Zion and God's Kingdom?" What are we doing or can we do to exhibit the kind of excitement that will get the attention of others? That is to get the attention of others on behalf of Jesus Christ.
A popular music group called "The Gaither's" sing a song that encourages us to "Get all excited, go tell everybody that Jesus Christ is King." Zion and God's Kingdom is not just for "us." We are called to be witnesses to the world, sharing the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I Peter 3:15 states: "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts; and be ready always to give an answer with meekness and fear to every man that asketh of you a reason for the hope that is in you,"
The Winter has been fairly mild, so far and we look forward to the beginning of Spring. That will be the time for many retreats around the country. Plans are in the works for a full slate of camps and reunions this summer.
Center Place Restoration School is continuing with a very good school year. Remodeling of the building is progressing with new carpeting to be installed in the sanctuary and round the sanctuary very soon. Enrollment is over 200, which is good.
All missionary boards under the Conference of Restoration Elders (CRE) are still active. The problems of international travel however are present and hinder mission trips.
Several branches have been coming together for worship. They meet the first Sunday evening and third Wednesday evening of each month. The services are rotated around each time. Services have been good, but attendance is lacking.
The CRE is gearing up for a Spring Gathering" as well as a summer reunion in Independence, Missouri. Many of the events of the CRE are live steamed and available on the CRE website.
God bless and keep you,
Paul Gage

Vol 5 Chapter 12 Faith Part 1 – by Member Samuel Kerswell
The last two times we have met I have shared worship services by my oldest Son Joshua, this time we will be hearing from my youngest Son Samuel. Like with the previous this isn’t all that was shared, as some was from the heart, however, will allow you to appreciate what we have enjoyed greatly. I’ll now hand over to Sam.
We all exercise faith every day, faith we will make it safely to and from work, faith that we will have good health, faith that God will provide for our needs, faith in Jesus and in God. Without faith we are cut off from God because if we do not believe in him, what reason does he have to strive through us. Please turn to Moroni 7: 24-28
[Moroni 7:24] Wherefore, by the ministering of angels, and by every word which proceedeth forth out of the mouth of God, men began to exercise faith in Christ; and thus by faith, they did lay hold upon every good thing; and thus it was until the coming of Christ.
[Moroni 7:25] And after that he came, men also were saved by faith in his name; and by faith, they become the sons of God.
[Moroni 7:26] And as sure as Christ liveth, he spake these words unto our fathers, saying, Whatsoever thing ye shall ask the Father in my name, which is good, in faith believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be done unto you.
[Moroni 7:27] Wherefore, my beloved brethren, hath miracles ceased, because Christ hath ascended into heaven, and hath sat down on the right hand of God, to claim of the Father his rights of mercy which he hath upon the children of men;
[Moroni 7:28] For he hath answered the ends of the law, and he claimeth all those who have faith in him; and they who have faith in him, will cleave unto every good thing; wherefore he advocateth the cause of the children of men; and he dwelleth eternally in the heavens?
Faith has always been required by God, faith in Jesus’ coming, faith that he was the son of God, faith that through him all things are possible. Turn to Mathew 17: 15-20
[Matthew 17:15] And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a man kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son; for he is lunatic, and sore vexed; for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
[Matthew 17:16] And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
[Matthew 17:17] Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation! how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him hither to me.
[Matthew 17:18] And Jesus rebuked the devil, and he departed out of him; and the child was cured from that very hour.
[Matthew 17:19] Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
[Matthew 17:20] And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief; for, verily, I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove to yonder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Now a mustard seed is pretty tiny, it doesn’t sound like much, but in terms of faith it is enormous. Complete and total faith in something that seems so massive, so impossible as moving a mountain, is a tall order, a lifetime of work and you could never come close on your own and yet through God it is easier than a twitch of a finger, and he offers us this freely, all that we have to do is truly believe in him. Now it might not be as impressive as moving a mountain but some examples of faith I’ve had in my life are when I had to get surgery for my hernia, we all prayed that the surgery would run smoothly without a hitch and that I would have a successful recovery and I can honestly say I went into the surgery room calm in the knowledge that God would keep me safe and deliver me through whole and sound.
Another example is with money, I have faith that God will provide for us what we need when we need it. Now as you all know I haven’t exactly had the best run when it comes to cares. But one thing that I have been blessed with, even when it seems like the opposite, is that pretty much every time something went wrong, I just so happened to have just enough in savings to cover it. Problem costs $1200 to fix, guess who just managed to save up $1500, car needs something fixed very soon, guess whose just been told they are behind schedule at work, and everyone needs to put in 12 hour days to get ahead. The same goes for the dentist’s visits, or my work paying too much in tax giving just the boost I needed to pay my insurance and rego after doing my return. And in the occasions, I don’t have enough someone in this room has always helped, I have no doubt, through their own blessing like this. Another example is faith that God will keep us safe, I had one day I was running late for work, there was a crash on the Logan motorway that had traffic all backed up, I was stuck, in the slow lane and there was an opening in the fast lane, but I didn’t take it, no reason why, any other day I would have jumped at the chance but that day I didn’t and sure enough came around the next corner and the guy I would have merged in front of isn’t paying attention, brakes too late and causes a 6 car pileup. Now a slightly bigger show of faith can be found in 1st Samuel 17:23-58
[1 Samuel 17:23] And as he talked with them behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words; and David heard them.
[1 Samuel 17:24] And all the men of Israel, when they saw the man, fled from him, and were sore afraid.
[1 Samuel 17:25] And the men of Israel said, Have ye seen this man that is come up? surely to defy Israel is he come up; and it shall be that the man who killeth him, the king will enrich him with great riches, and will give him his daughter, and make his father's house free in Israel.
[1 Samuel 17:26] And David spake to the men that stood by him, saying, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistine, and taketh away the reproach from Israel? for who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
[1 Samuel 17:27] And the people answered him after this manner, saying, So shall it be done to the man that killeth him.
[1 Samuel 17:28] And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake unto the men; and Eliab's anger was kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride and the naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.
[1 Samuel 17:29] And David said, What have I now done? Is there not a cause?
[1 Samuel 17:30] And he turned from him toward another, and spake after the same manner; and the people answered him again after the former manner.
[1 Samuel 17:31] And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul; and he sent for him.
[1 Samuel 17:32] And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
[1 Samuel 17:33] And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him; for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
[1 Samuel 17:34] And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock;
[1 Samuel 17:35] And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth; and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.
[1 Samuel 17:36] Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
[1 Samuel 17:37] David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee.
[1 Samuel 17:38] And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put a helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.
[1 Samuel 17:39] And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.
[1 Samuel 17:40] And he took his staff in his hand and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand; and he drew near to the Philistine.
[1 Samuel 17:41] And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.
[1 Samuel 17:42] And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him; for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.
[1 Samuel 17:43] And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
[1 Samuel 17:44] And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
[1 Samuel 17:45] Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield; but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
[1 Samuel 17:46] This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee, and I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
[1 Samuel 17:47] And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hands.
[1 Samuel 17:48] And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.
[1 Samuel 17:49] And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
[1 Samuel 17:50] So David prevailed over the Philistines with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.
[1 Samuel 17:51] Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.
[1 Samuel 17:52] And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron.
[1 Samuel 17:53] And the children of Israel returned from chasing after the Philistines, and they spoiled their tents.
[1 Samuel 17:54] And David took the head of the Philistine and brought it to Jerusalem; but he put his armour in his tent.
[1 Samuel 17:55] And when Saul saw David go forth against the Philistine, he said unto Abner, the captain of the host, Abner, whose son is this youth? And Abner said, As thy soul liveth, O king, I cannot tell.
[1 Samuel 17:56] And the king said, Inquire thou whose son the stripling is.
[1 Samuel 17:57] And as David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, Abner took him, and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand.
[1 Samuel 17:58] And Saul said to him, Whose son art thou, thou young man? And David answered, I am the son of thy servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.
A pretty incredible show of faith on David’s behalf here, David isn’t a man of war, he is a shepherd of his father’s sheep and yet he arrives at the battleground and hears a giant of a man clad in armour who has the whole army of Israel trembling, mouthing off about his people, his first reaction is who's this guy to defy the army of God? He reacted like this because he had faith, as a shepherd he had killed both a bear and a lion through faith that he would be protected. How could this man pose a bigger threat and because of this he was able to do what the army whose job it is to fight couldn’t do because he had faith that God would deliver him from danger. Another example of strong faith comes from Samuel the Lamanite, can we please turn our pages to Helaman 5: 54-121.
We will continue the next chapter with the reading from Helaman, I hope you enjoyed sharing with us and May God bless and keep you is our prayer in Jesus name,
Amen.
SECOND BOOK OF NEPHI
From Elder Murray Broughton, of Euroa, Victoria
“Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and all men.
Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father; ye shall have eternal life.’’
Second Book of Nephi Chapter 13-
Wherefore my beloved brethren, can we follow Jesus, save we shall be willing to keep the commandments of the Father?
14.And the father said, Repent ye, repent ye, and be baptized in the name of my beloved Son. 15.And also the voice of the son came unto me, saying, He that is baptized in my name, to him will the Father give the Holy Ghost, like unto me; wherefore, follow me, and do the things which ye have seen me do.
16.Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I know that if ye shall follow the Son with full purpose of heart, acting with no hypocrisy and no deception before God, but with real intent, repenting of your sins, witnessing unto the Father that ye are willing to take upon you the name of Christ, by baptism: yea, by following your Lord and your Saviour down into the water according to his word ;behold, then shall receive the Holy Ghost.
17.Yea, then cometh the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost; and can ye speak with the tongue of angels, and shout praises unto the Holy One of Israel.
18.But behold ,my beloved brethren, thus came the voice of the Son unto me saying, after ye have repented of your sins ,and witness unto the Father that that ye are willing to keep my commandments, by the baptisms of water, and have received the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost, and can speak with a new tongue, ye, even with the tongue of the angels and after this, should deny me, it would it have been better for you ,that ye had not known me.
19.And I heard a voice from the father, saying; Yea, the words of my beloved, are true and faithful. 20.He that endureth to the end, the same to be save.
21.And now my beloved brethren, I know by this, that unless a man shall endure to the end, in following the example, of the Son of the living God, he cannot be saved.
22.Wherefore, do the things that I have told you I have seen, that your Lord and your Redeemer should do.
23. For this cause have they been shewn unto me, that ye might know the gate by which ye should enter.
24.For the gate by which ye should enter is repentance and baptism by water; and then cometh a remission of your sins by fire and the Holy Ghost.
25.And then are ye in this straight and narrow path which leads to eternal life; yea, ye have entered in by the gate; ye have done according to the commandments of the Father and the S 26. And ye have received the Holy Ghost, which witnesses of the Father and the Son, unto unto the fulfilling of the promise which he hath made; that if ye enter in by the way, ye should receive.
27.And now my beloved brethren, after ye have gotten into this straight and narrow path, I would ask, if all is done?
28.Behold, I say unto you, Nay; for ye have not come thus far, save it were by the word of Christ, with unshaken faith in him; relying, wholly upon the merits of him who is mighty to save.
29.Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ; having a perfect brightness of hope, and love of God, and all of men.
30.Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father; ye shall have eternal life.
31.And now behold my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven, whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God.
32.And now behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end,
Amen.
The Scattered Saints - Rocks, Pebbles & Sand
A teacher stood up before his class with a large empty jar. He filled the jar to the top with large rocks and asked his students if the jar was full. The students all agreed the jar was full. He then added small pebbles to the jar and gave the jar a bit of a shake so the pebbles could disperse themselves among the larger rocks. Then he asked again, “Is the jar full now?” The students agreed that the jar was still full. The professor then poured sand into the jar to fill up all the remaining empty space. The students then agreed again that the jar was full.
He then explains: The jar represents your life, and the rocks, pebbles, and sand are the things that fill up your life. The rocks represent the most important projects and things you have going on, such as spending time with God, your family and friends and maintaining proper health. This means that if the pebbles and the sand were lost, the jar would still be full, and your life would still have meaning.
The pebbles represent the things in your life that matter, but that you could live without. The pebbles are certainly things that give your life meaning (such as your job, house, hobbies, and friendships), but they are not critical for you to have a meaningful life. These things often come and go and are not permanent or essential to your overall well-being.
Finally, the sand represents the remaining filler things in your life, and material possessions. This could be small things such as watching television, browsing through your favorite social media site, or running errands. These things don't mean much to your life as a whole and are likely only done to waste time or get small tasks accomplished.
The Moral: If you start with putting sand into the jar, you will not have room for rocks or pebbles. This holds true with the things you let into your life. If you spend all your time on the small and insignificant things, you will run out of room for the things that are truly important. To have a more effective and efficient life, pay attention to the “rocks,” because they are critical to your long-term well-being.
