Obituary for Kathleen Gayle Van Fleet



Kathleen Gayle Van Fleet, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the age of 74 years. She was born on June 7, 1947 in Sacramento, California to Keillor (Kelly) Winsor and Virginia (Peggy) Dungan Winsor. She was baptized into the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 8 years of age. She and her parents attended 24th and K Street Branch in Sacramento, California for many years.

She married Elder Frank Van Fleet on 7-27-1981and immediately took on the role of raising Frank's three young children, Heather, Jennifer and Christopher. In 1987 they started meeting and conducting services in their home in order to preserve the original doctrine and ordinances of the RLDS Church.

In 1998 Kathleen and Frank gathered to Independence, Missouri where they have been active members of the South Crysler Restoration Branch. Kathleen has always loved righteousness and hated iniquity, and this has been the hallmark of her life. She has been a reliable source of love, inspiration, strength and support over their entire married lives. Hers is a legacy of faithfulness and she will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her husband Frank of 40 plus years, her three children, Heather (Joseph) Olguin, Jennifer (Christopher) Lauer and Christopher (Angel) Van Fleet, 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, many friends, and a large church family.

A visitation to honor Kathleen will be held on Sunday, February 20, from 2-3:00 p.m., with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m., both at South Crysler Restoration Branch, 16101 E. Salisbury Road, Independence, MO 64050. A graveside service for Kathleen will take place on Monday, February 21, at 10:00 a.m., at Mound Grove Cemetery in Independence, MO.
