Glenn Alvin Scott Jr. was born at home on 8/17/1918. He was the third of four children. He had 2 older sisters, Hazel Withee and Helen Harrington and younger sister Cornelia Allen. Glenn passed peacefully Friday evening 1/24/24 at the Trustwell Living Facility. He was preceded in death by his parents Glenn Alvin Scott Sr. and Nell Marceen Scott, P Bernice Scott(his wife of 74 years), his middle son, J Douglas Scott and his sisters Hazel, Helen and Cornelia.

Glenn is survived by two sons and their families: oldest son Eric Scott, his wife Judy, son Eric G Scott, his wife Paula and their 2 children, Dalton, Benjamin and a great great grandson Oliver; son Jason Scott and his children Logan, Morgan and Owen; youngest son Terry Scott and wife Christine, son Mark Scott and his wife Sarah, sons Ethan and Evan and son Johnny Scott, his wife Martha and their son Andrew.

Glenn graduated from Paseo High School in 1935 and graduated Graceland College in1939. He attended the Kansas City Art Institute in 1940 and married Bernice Stafford in 1941. Son Eric was born 5/8/42. Glenn worked at TWA from 1942-1949 and served in the Army Air Corp during WWII from 1944-1946 during his time at TWA. Son Doug was born 6/1/1948.

He began his advertising career with Merritt Owens Ad agency in 1950. Son Terry was born 3/23/53. He designed his own home in Breen Hills in 1955. He designed and built a custom 40 ft houseboat in 1958. He designed his home in Bella Vista Annex in 1961. He also designed homes for his two oldest sisters.

He became advertising manager for J F Pritchard Co. in 1966. He moved to Cleveland to work for H K Ferguson as advertising manager in 1973. His last job took him to Chicago with Procon International again as advertising manager in 1977. He retired in 1982.

Glenn was a VP for KXTR, a church owned radio station, broadcast from Stone Church. He was also an early member of the Good Government League that worked to provide good and honest leadership in Independence, Mo.

After retiring he returned to college and earned a BS degree specializing in Archaeology at Kansas University in 1990. He made 13 trips to Central America, researching the Maya and Olmec. He published his 1st edition of Voices from the Dust in 1996. His 2nd edition was published in 1999 and his 3rd edition in 2003. He was working on a 4th edition, but was unable to complete it. He served as an Elder in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ and his love of the Book of Mormon was expressed through his Archaeology and teaching Sunday school classes for 47 years.

In 1997, during a ‘routine’ heart surgery, Glenn died on the operating table for 20 minutes before his heart beat again. He then spent the next 10 days in a coma. The doctors feared brain damage. After prayer from hundreds of concerned people, he awoke with full mental capacity. He went on to live a full healthy life, living to the age of 105.

Visitation will be held at 12:30 pm and services at 1:30pm on Friday 2/9/24 at Speaks Suburban Chapel at 18020 East 39th St S, Independence, MO.

Glenn was dearly loved by family and friends and will be missed.
