LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD FEBRUARY 8, 2024
Greetings to the dear Saints of God around the world,
As we enter into the week many might call, “The week of Love,,” because Wednesday, February 14, is “Valentine’s Day,”we realize the greatest and most valuable to each of us is God’s love. God’s love was extended to us from the foundation of the world. I John 4:19 “WE LOVE HIM, BECAUSE HE FIRST LOVED US.”.
It is another time of excessive spending, at least for some. In 2023 26 billion dollars was spent on Valentine gifts. This averages out, so the experts say, to about $185.00 per person. What if each Saint put that amount of money in the offering plate this Sunday? We know, however, God is not in need of our money, but He does ask us to be good stewards over His money.
As God tells us many times, we are commanded to LOVE HIM WITH ALL OUR HEARTS, MINDS, SOULS and STRENGTH, or in other words, with all we have in every aspect of our lives. This past Sunday, many had the opportunity to partake in the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper. An ordinance God placed in His church with the command to “Do this in remembrance of Me.” If we truly “Remember” Jesus and His great love for us, we are committed to loving God with our all AND others in the same way. That is usually where the hesitation comes in for we read in I John 4:20-21, “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 21 And this commandment have we from him: That he who loveth God love his brother also.”
This means more than just one day or one week of the year. This is a 24/7 commandment and is needed most in the church. Take some time to read Alma 3. Alma comes on pretty strong with his counsel TO THE CHURCH. When we are willing to have this kind of love in the church, which includes our families, we can have a true experience of “Living in the Kingdom of God.”
This Valentine’s Day will come and go, but the Kingdom awaits those who love as God loves all the time. Where there is a rift or differences that separates us from one another, we must start the process to bring healing and re-unification, otherwise, the Kingdom awaits. Read Matthew 5:22-26.
