Understanding the Vision

03/28/20

Last we were together I left you with a few thoughts and verses about a people with vision – as you continue your journey I wanted to share a few additional scriptures / thoughts.

Mormon writes about the end of the Nephite nation as it falls into unbelief. Even though he tries to get the nation to turn back to Jesus they had fallen into such a state of unbelief and wickness they could not see where they were much less where they needed to get back to.

As he describes the scene it is hard to believe that a people could get so far away from the Lord, but yet we see it everyday….even today!

As you read his testimony in Mormon we find in chapter 4 he begins to describe the faith or lack of faith that the people had during this time….this is well worth the read as you continue to build on everything that you have read and are starting to see.

Mormon chapter 4 starting with verse 47 through describes a people that have a vision but it is a distorted vision.

Mormon 4:47-49

But behold, Jesus Christ hath shewn you unto me, and I know your doing; and I know that ye do walk in the pride of your hearts.

And there are none, save a few only, who do not lift themselves up in the pride of their hearts, unto the wearing of very fine apparel, unto envying, and strifes, and malice, and persecutions, and all manner of iniquity;

And your churches, yea, even every one, have become polluted because of the pride of your hearts.

And that is the start of what ends up being a description of where many are at or headed to today. The next 20 verses are not pretty – but they are actually a warning of where many of faith could fall if they do not stay on that narrow path that leads to the tree of life.

1 Nephi 1: 62,63

And I beheld a rod of iron; and it extended along the bank of the river, and led to the tree by which I stood.

And I also beheld a straight and narrow path, which came along by the rod of iron, even to the tree by which I stood;

Starting in verses 70 – 72 and 77-78 is where we need to be…..this is a part of the vision and this should be our testimony during this time

Mormon 4: 70

But behold, I will shew unto you a God of miracles, even the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob; and it is that same God who created the heavens and the earth, and all things that in them are.

As you look to help our fellow Saints, neighbors, friends and family you are living these scriptures. Creating a testimony not only in yourself but in the lives of the many that you are touching. We as a people need to stand on what Mormon testifies of in verse 82 - 86

Mormon 4:82 -86

And behold I say unto you, He changeth not; if so, he would cease to be God; and he ceaseth not to be God, and is a God of miracles.

And the reason why he ceaseth to do miracles among the children of men, is because that they dwindle in unbelief, and depart from the right way, and know not the God in whom they should trust.

Behold I say unto you, that whoso believeth in Christ, doubting nothing, whatsoever he shall ask the Father in the name of Christ, it shall be granted him; and this promise is unto all, even unto the ends of the earth.

For behold, thus saith Jesus Christ, the Son of God unto his disciples who should tarry; yea, and also to all his disciples, in the hearing of the multitude,

Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature; and he that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved, but he that believeth not, shall be damned.

So many are asking what should we do?

The direction and comfort you seek during these trying and worrisome times is in your hands as you flip page by page in your scriptures……that is not to say that we are not to be together in any way that we are able as I stated in my last correspondence to you……

Mosiah 9: 40

Yea, and are willing to mourn with those that mourn; yea, and comfort those that stand in need of comfort, and to stand as witnesses of God at all times, and in all things, and in all places that ye may be in, even until death, that ye may be redeemed of God, and be numbered with those of the first resurrection, that ye may have eternal life:

Be safe, be prayerful, be faithful and be diligent Saints….also remember to wash your hands frequently.
