FEBUARY 2022

AROUND AND ABOUT THE CENTRE PLACE
By High Priest Paul J. Gage, of Independence, Missouri

God's Love and Blessings to the wonderful, faithful Saints in Australia,
Well, here we are, already into a new year and one month gone forever. The Saints in the Centre Place, like those around the world are still dealing with various strains of the virus. Maybe the Saints should truly come together and develop the "Kingdom of God" virus. Sounds funny, but God is waiting on us, or I should say, giving us more time, to develop His love and gospel in our lives and spread it to all those around. That is what the world really needs, GOD'S LOVE. That is the answer to all the problems, illnesses, etc in the world.
As it seemed that life was sort of getting back to "normal" strains of the virus are coming back and causing more problems. We know that nothing is new to God or surprises Him. He knows all things and always has and always will. He continues to work with us in effort to help us get our lives in proper order for His Kingdom That starts with each of us individually then the family, branch, community, and so forth. We must realize, however, that God will not wait forever. He has a plan, and it will be carried out on His time schedule.
Most Branches in the Centre Place are open for worship. Various activities are in the plans and will be carried out in the next few months as we enter back into camps, retreats, and reunion seasons.

The Conference of Restoration Elders (CRE), Pastors of Zion (POZ) and Pastors of Central Missouri Branches (CMRB) continue to work together on several projects in effort to minister to the Saints. All CRE events are available on the website eldersconferenc.org
Center Place Restoration School is doing very well. The enrollment is at a good level and many good things are happening.
The missionary groups are still active, but there are still difficulties getting into and out of many countries. Some elders have been to Kenya and other parts of Africa this year.
I invited several others to send in a testimony or something. Sister Judith Hawley responded as follows. God bless and keep you all.
For We Walk By Faith Not By Sight
Harold and I, with my Seeing Eye guide dog Madera, were in Australia from August 2002 to August 2003. It was during this time that we helped out at reunion.
Doug and Judi smith came over to help also at reunion. Judi and I taught the children. It was during that week the following took place. We were teaching the children about Faith. We blindfolded each child. Then the first one put his/her left hand on my right shoulder. The one behind that first person did the same to the first person and so on down the line. Then I took up the harness of my guide dog Madera and gave her the command, “Forward.” (I was not sure she would lead all those children as she had never done this before.) But being the great guide she was, she seemed to sense the situation and began walking slowly. I could feel the hesitation and fear in the children as they put their feet down on ground they could not see, only feel. Madera led her line of campers across the grass, onto the footpath and down steps. As we ventured further onto the grounds the children gained more confidence. By the time we returned to our class area they were moving with perfect trust in Madera’s ability to lead them.
For We Walk By Faith Not By Sight ~ Continued…
After the blindfolds came off we discussed the experience. They all agreed they had been frightened at first, but as we went along their trust began to build in Madera’s ability to guide them. Judi and I explained to the children this is the way with faith in Jesus Christ. We cannot see Him, but we “trust” Him to guide us through the ups and the downs and through unknown paths. Just like we trusted Madera to get us back to where we began our “Faith Walk”.
We could see it left a deep impression on the children. And the other thing that impressed them was, that they did it! They conquered their fears! Jesus tells us to Fear Not, for He will never leave us nor forsake us. Thus we can, walk by Faith and not by Sight.

Vol 5 Chapter 11 Love of God – by Member Joshua Kerswell
Last time I shared with you a worship by my Son Joshua on Faith of Deliverance, this time I have another Worship by Josh, titled Love of God, Josh said much more from the heart than is recorded here. However, this will give a good understanding of what was shared that day, hope you enjoy it.
God loves each and every one of us and he shows his love in a lot of different ways, big and small. The fact that we all went to sleep and woke up today is a sign that he loves us, we’ve all made it through our hectic work weeks and have made it here safely today to fellowship together in peace. That’s love. The promotions or positions we find ourselves in at work are also a sign that he’s looking out for us and our needs and loves us. God gives us gifts and strengths that we use in our day to day lives that make it easier or more enjoyable. He can also show us he loves us by showing us where we went wrong and how we can make it right again. By giving us the agency and intelligence to know what’s right and wrong, and to choose where we stand or fall is an act of love. Because we all know that if Satan had his way there would be no agency of choice, it’d be his way or the highway.
John Chapter 11 Verse 1-46
[John 11:1] Now a certain man was sick, whose name was Lazarus, of the town of Bethany;
[John 11:2] And Mary, his sister, who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair, lived with her sister Martha, in whose house her brother Lazarus was sick.
[John 11:3] Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
[John 11:4] And when Jesus heard he was sick, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
[John 11:5] Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
[John 11:6] And Jesus tarried two days, after he heard that Lazarus was sick, in the same place where he was. [John 11:7] After that he said unto his disciples, Let us go into Judea again.
[John 11:8] But his disciples said unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?
[John 11:9] Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.
[John 11:10] But if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.
[John 11:11] These things said he; and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.
[John 11:12] Then said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.
[John 11:13] Howbeit Jesus spake of his death; but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep. [John 11:14] Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
[John 11:15] And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.
[John 11:16] Then said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellow disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him; for they feared lest the Jews should take Jesus and put him to death, for as yet they did not understand the power of God.
[John 11:17] And when Jesus came to Bethany, to Martha's house, Lazarus had already been in the grave four days. [John 11:18] Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off.
[John 11:19] And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.
[John 11:20] Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him; but Mary sat still in the house.
[John 11:21] Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. [John 11:22] But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee. [John 11:23] Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
[John 11:24] Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
[John 11:25] Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live;
[John 11:26] And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
[John 11:27] She saith unto him, Yea, Lord; I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
[John 11:28] And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
[John 11:29] As soon as Mary heard that Jesus was come, she arose quickly, and came unto him. [John 11:30] Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in the place where Martha met him.
[John 11:31] The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
[John 11:32] Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
[John 11:33] When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,
[John 11:34] And said, Where have ye laid him, They say unto him, Lord, come and see.
[John 11:35] Jesus wept.
[John 11:36] Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!
[John 11:37] And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
[John 11:38] Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
[John 11:39] Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh; for he hath been dead four days.
[John 11:40] Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
[John 11:41] Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
[John 11:42] And I knew that thou hearest me always; but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
[John 11:43] And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
[John 11:44] And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave- clothes; and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them. Loose him,and let him go.
[John 11:45] Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him. [John 11:46] But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done. -2 very faithful handmaidens of the lord helped Jesus and believed in him.
- Lazarus dies and Jesus tells them that “This isn’t a sickness unto death, but for the glory of God, that the son of God might be glorified.”
-They knew of and believed in the resurrection through Christ.
- They showed tremendous faith and believed in their hearts, that if Jesus asked of the lord for their brother to be made whole again, that it can and will happen.
- Jesus groaned in the spirit and wept with them, because he loved both them and Lazarus. He loved them so much he went back to where the Jews had previously tried to stone him, in order to help Lazarus, Martha and Mary in their time of need.
- Lazarus is brought back from the dead and many of the Jews start to believe in the power of God as a result of this amazing miracle.
- Jesus did this amazing miracle in the midst of the people to show his power and his love for his people, in a place that he had previously been threatened to be stoned by his own people, and as a result of this the Pharisees started to plot his death.
D&C section 105 verse 1-5d
[Sec 105:1a] Verily, thus saith the Lord unto thee my servant, Thomas, I have heard thy prayers, and thine alms have come up as a memorial before me, in behalf of those thy brethren who were chosen to bear testimony of my name, and to send it abroad among all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people; and ordained through the instrumentality of my servants.
[Sec 105:2a] Verily I say unto thee, There have been some few things in thine heart and with thee, with which I, the Lord, was not well pleased; nevertheless, inasmuch as thou hast abased thyself thou shalt be exalted; therefore, all thy sins are forgiven thee.
[Sec 105:2b] Let thy heart be of good cheer before my face, and thou shalt bear record of my name, not only unto the Gentiles, but also unto the Jews; and thou shalt send forth my word unto the ends of the earth.
[Sec 105:3] Contend thou, therefore, morning by morning, and day after day; let thy warning voice go forth, and when the night cometh, let not the inhabitants of the earth slumber because of thy speech.
[Sec 105:4a] Let thy habitation be known in Zion, and remove not thy house, for I, the Lord, have a great work for thee to do, in publishing my name among the children of men; therefore, gird up thy loins for the work.
[Sec 105:4b] Let thy feet be shod also, for thou art chosen and thy path lieth among the mountains, and among many nations; and by thy word many high ones shall be brought low; and by thy word many low ones shall be exalted.
[Sec 105:4c] Thy voice shall be a rebuke unto the transgressor; and at thy rebuke let the tongue of the slanderer cease its perverseness.
[Sec 105:5a] Be thou humble, and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand, and give thee answer to thy prayers. I know thy heart, and have heard thy prayers concerning thy brethren.
[Sec 105:5b] Be not partial towards them in love above many others, but let thy love be for them as for thyself; and let thy love abound unto all men, and unto all who love my name.
[Sec 105:5c] And pray for thy brethren of the Twelve. Admonish them sharply for my name's sake, and let them be admonished for all their sins; and be ye faithful before me unto my name.
[Sec 105:5d] And after their temptations and much tribulations, behold, I, the Lord, will feel after them, and if they harden not their hearts, and stiffen not their necks against me, they shall be converted, and I will heal them.
- The lord sees his failings and sins and forgave him.
- Calls him to go forth and spread the word to the gentiles and the Jews and tells him that his words will bring many high ones low and by his word many low ones shall be exalted.
- not only forgiving him for his sins but lifting him up and giving him the opportunity to do a great work.
- Be thou humble and the lord shall lead you by the hand and give the answers to thy prayers. What a wonderful thing to hear spoken directly to you from the father.
D&C section 92 verse 1-3a
[Sec 92:1a] Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you, whom I love; and whom I love I also chasten, that their sins may be forgiven; for with the chastisement, I prepare a way for their deliverance, in all things, out of temptation; and I have loved you:
[Sec 92:1b] Wherefore, ye must needs be chastened and stand rebuked before my face, for ye have sinned against me a very grievous sin, in that ye have not considered the great commandment in all things, that I have given unto you, concerning the building of mine house,
[Sec 92:1c] for the preparation wherewith I design to prepare mine apostles to prune my vineyard for the last time, that I may bring to pass my strange act, that I may pour out my Spirit upon all flesh.
[Sec 92:1d] But, behold, verily I say unto you, There are many who have been ordained among you, whom I have called, but few of them are chosen:
[Sec 92:1e] they who are not chosen have sinned a very grievous sin, in that they are walking in darkness at noonday; and for this cause, I gave unto you a commandment, that you should call your solemn assembly;
[Sec 92:1f] that your fastings and your mourning might come up into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth, which is, by interpretation, the Creator of the first day; the beginning and the end.
[Sec 92:2a] Yea, verily I say unto you, I gave unto you a commandment, that you should build an house, in the which house I design to endow those whom I have chosen with power from on high, for this is the promise of the Father unto you;
[Sec 92:2b] therefore, I commanded you to tarry, even as mine apostles at Jerusalem; nevertheless, my servants sinned a very grievous sin; and contentions arose in the school of the prophets, which was very grievous unto me, saith your Lord; therefore I sent them forth to be chastened.
[Sec 92:3a] Verily I say unto you, It is my will that you should build an house; if you keep my commandments, you shall have power to build it; if you keep not my commandments the love of the Father shall not continue with you; therefore you shall walk in darkness.
- Re-read verse 1.
[Sec 92:1a] Verily, thus saith the Lord unto you, whom I love; and whom I love I also chasten, that their sins may be forgiven; for with the chastisement, I prepare a way for their deliverance, in all things, out of temptation; and I have loved you:
If God didn’t love us he wouldn’t bother giving us a chance to repent and get back on the right path.
- They committed a very grievous sin in the eyes of the Lord and he lets them know and gives them a clear path forward.
- He wants us to succeed and do the right thing, he loves us and is patient with us in our times of temptation and struggle.
- and if we don’t take the opportunities he gives us to make things right and repent and keep his commandments. (read verse 3a)
[Sec 92:3a] Verily I say unto you, It is my will that you should build an house; if you keep my commandments, you shall have power to build it; if you keep not my commandments the love of the Father shall not continue with you; therefore you shall walk in darkness.
John Chapter 15 verse 1-27
[John 15:1] I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
[John 15:2] Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away; and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
[John 15:3] Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
[John 15:4] Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
[John 15:5] I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing.
[John 15:6] If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
[John 15:7] If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. [John 15:8] Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. [John 15:9] As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you; continue ye in my love.
[John 15:10] If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.
[John 15:11] These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. [John 15:12] This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
[John 15:13] Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. [John 15:14] Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
[John 15:15] Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth; but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
[John 15:16] Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit; and that your fruit should remain; that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
[John 15:17] These things I command you, that ye love one another.
[John 15:18] If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
[John 15:19] If ye were of the world, the world would love his own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
[John 15:20] Remember the word that I said unto you. The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.
[John 15:21] But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. [John 15:22] If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin; but now they have no cloak for their sin. [John 15:23] He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
[John 15:24] If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin; but now have they both seen and hateth both me and my Father.
[John 15:25] But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
[John 15:26] But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me;
[John 15:27] And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning. - Jesus is speaking to the disciples in a parable of a vineyard
- God is the Husbandman and Jesus is the true vine
- Good branches are purged and bring forth more fruit and bad branches that don’t produce fruit are cut off, withered and cast into the fire.
- We are the branches and if we do not produce good fruit for the lord we’ll be cast out. - Christ loves us and we are to go forth in his love and follow his commandments and bring forth good fruit.
- As a form of comfort to the disciples, Jesus tells them that if the world hates you, know that it hated me first and if the world loves you than that means you’re of the world and not of God.
- He also says that there is no greater love hath man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Which is exactly what he did for us. He also calls them his friends and not his servants, (read verse 15)
- He’s preparing them for a time where he won’t be there to help them in the flesh and tells them that anything they ask of the father in his name shall be given unto them.
God loves us and has prepared a way forward to eternal life, he protects and guides us through life’s troubles, he can help us in any situation we may find ourselves in, no matter how daunting. If he can cause the blind to see and the dead to rise, we should know that if we ask in faith believing, he can help us overcome literally anything. I for one find it really comforting having someone to ask for guidance and direction and protection, someone whose got your back, as long as you love him back and keep his commandments.
JESUS CHILDHOOD TO HIS EARLY MINISTRY
From Elder Murray Broughton, of Euroa, Victoria
Luke 2 v 25 to 35 And behold, there was a man at Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Ghost was upon him.
v 26, And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death before he had seen the Lords Christ.
v 27. And he came by the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child, even Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law.
v 28. Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
v 29. Lord now lettest thy Servant depart in peace, according to thy word.
v 30. For mine eyes have seen thy salvation.
v 31. Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people,
v32.A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.
v 33. And Joseph, and Mary, marveled at those things which were spoken of the child. v 34. And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel, and for a sign which shall be spoken against,
v 35 Yea, a spear shall pierce through him to the wounding of thine own soul also, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.'
[It was the custom to go along and break the legs of them on the Cross, but it was prophesied a spear would pierce his side, and this is what happened.]
Luke 2 v 40 to v 49'And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, being filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.
v 41. Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the pass-over.
v 42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem, after the custom, to the feast. v 43. And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind, in Jerusalem, and Joseph and his mother knew not that he tarried,
v 44But they, supposing him to have been in the company went a day’s journey, and they sought him among his kindred and acquaintance.
v 45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, Seeking him. v 46. And it came to pass, after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, and they were hearing him, and asking him questions.
v 47And all who heard him were astonished at his understanding .and answers.
v 48. And when his parents saw him, they were amazed, and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us.? Behold thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.
v 49. And he said unto them, why is it that ye sought me.? Knew not that I must be about my father’s business.
Luke 3 v 23to v 30. John answered, saying unto all, I indeed baptize you with water, but there cometh one mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am worthy to unloose, he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire. v 28 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also came unto John, and being baptized of him, and praying the heavens was opened,
v 29. And the Holy Ghost descended, in bodily shape like a dove, upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, thou art my beloved Son, in thee I am well pleased.
v 30. And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, having lived with his father, being as was supposed of the world, the son of Joseph, who was from the loins of Heli.
Matthew 13 v 56. Is not this the carpenters Son.?
Is not his mother called Mary.?
And his brethren, James and, Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
And his sisters, are they not all with us.?.
Luke 4 v 1-11. And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness.
v2. And after forty days, the devil came unto him, to tempt him. And in those days, he did eat nothing, and when they were ended, he afterwards hungered.
v 3. And the devil said unto him, if thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. v 4. And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
v 5. And the Spirit taketh him up into a high mountain, and he beheld all the kingdoms of the world, in a moment of time.
v 6. And the devil came unto him, and said unto him, all this power will I give unto thee, and the glory of them, for they are delivered unto me, and to whomsoever I will, I give them.
v 7. If thou, therefore, will worship me, all shall be thine.
v 8. Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me Satan, for it is written, Thou shall worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
v 9. And the Spirit brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple. And the devil came unto him, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence,
v10.For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee and in his hands, they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
v 11. And Jesus answering, said unto him, It is written, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. [Satan tempted Jesus, he will tempt us, he is a liar from the beginning, he cannot give what he says, and not his to give. Jesus says, it is written, let us study Thy word.]
Luke 4 v 16-21. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and as his custom was he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
v 17. And there was delivered unto him, the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
v 18. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor, he hath sent me to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and the recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.
v 19. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
v 20. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and he sat down.
v 21. And the eyes of all those who were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, This day is the scripture fulfilled in your ears.
[Prophecy was fulfilled, Jesus had come, the Spirit of the Lord was upon him. Jesus did his Fathers will, was about Thy Fathers will, was about his Fathers business, we must also be about Thy Fathers will, for us to do. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.]
The Scattered Saints

The Weight of a Glass By Stephen

A psychology professor teaching Stress Management Principles to an auditorium of students, raised a glass of water, as everyone expected they’d be asked the typical “glass half empty or glass half full” question. Instead, the professor asked, “How heavy is this glass of water I’m holding?” Students shouted out answers ranging from ounces to a couple pounds.
She replied, “From my perspective, the weight of this glass doesn’t matter. It all depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute or two, it’s light. If I hold it for an hour straight, its weight might make my arm ache a little. If I hold it all day, my arm will likely cramp up and feel completely numb and paralyzed, forcing me to drop the glass to the floor. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn’t change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it feels to me.” As the class shook their heads in agreement, she continued, “Your stresses and worries in life are very much like this glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and you begin to ache a little. Think about them all day long, and you will feel completely numb and paralyzed – incapable of doing anything else until you drop them.”
The moral: It’s important to remember to let go of your stresses and worries. Give them to God. No matter what happens during the day, as early as you can, put all your burdens down. Don’t carry them through the day and into the night with you. Are you feeling stressed? It’s time to put the glass down.
This ‘Scattered Saints’ space is for anyone and everyone who would like to share something with our readers and fellow Saints. Whether it be a story, favorite hymn or poem, or a testimony – please send them to our editor to include.
