LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD JULY 13, 2023

We greet you in that Precious Name that is so sweet, that is the hope of earth and joy of heaven, even Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior,

In our daily walk in the Kingdom of God, things do not always go as smoothly as we might like, but we have the assurance that God is always with us. Maybe sometimes we take God for granted, like we do so many others and things in our lives. Generally speaking, when things go wrong, we call someone very quickly.

When the car quits running and you are in the middle of the road, when a water pipe bursts and water is spewing all over the floor, and on top of that your cell phone jams up on you, what do you do? Call a psychiatrist! Excuse me! I’m not “crazy.”Not just any psychiatrist, but the Master Psychiatrist, GOD. God has all the contacts we will ever need no matter what may be the problem at that particular moment.

In his book, “God’s Psychiatry” Charles Allen informs us that our modern word “psychiatry” comes from two Greek words psyche meaning “the person” and iatreia meaning “treatment, healing, restoring, etc.” As we know there are two parts to a person, body and spirit which equals the soul. DC 85:4a. Much of the time in the field of medicine only the body is treated, so most of us probably have a number of prescription medications in our cabinets along with a number of “supplements” to do whatever we think we need.

There are four sections to the book,
1. How to think of God, Psalm 23 “The Lord IS My Shepherd.”
2. God’s Rules for Living, Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5“The Ten Commandments.”
3. How to Talk to God, Matthew 6:9-15 “The Lord’s Prayer.”
4. The keys to the Kingdom of God, Matthew 5, “The Beatitudes.”

These things we are all familiar with, but are they a real part of our daily lives? Mr. Allen has a prescription for How to think about God. Read and ponder on Psalm 23 five times each day for seven days. When you awaken each morning, immediately after breakfast, after lunch, after dinner and the last thing before going to bed.

What is the one major thing in Psalm 23 that the “sheep” does?
