Mary Virginia Lade Obituary |
Mary Virginia Lade, 87, of Independence, MO, passed away July 10, 2023. She was born in Lumberport, W. Virginia and raised in Clarksburg, W. Virginia, and graduated from Shinnston, W. Virginia High School in 1954. She was raised in the RLDS Church, and her father was an Elder and her mother was a homemaker. She was the youngest of six children. She served as pianist at the RLDS Church in Clarksburg during her seventh through twelfth grade. Mary attended Graceland Junior College in 1954-55 in Lamoni, Iowa and majored in Secretarial Science and minored in home economics. She then went to Michigan where she served for many years as a secretary and stenographer and for several years as a receptionist/dental assistant and bookkeeper. She was a hostess and dining room supervisor for the Traverse City, Michigan Golf and Country Club for several years. She served as a Sunday school teacher and music director for the Inland Branch of the RLDS Church for several years near Traverse City, Michigan. Mary served on the school board in Arcadia, Michigan for eight years. She and her husband, Veryl, owned Gilbert Excavating Inc. for thirty years. She held church services in her home for several years before gathering to Independence, Missouri in the year 2000. Mary met Richard Lade in 2001 and they married on January 26, 2002. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Veryl; four brothers, (Charles, Don, Clyde and Jim Swick); and sister, Jo McArther; a stepdaughter, Teresa Durant; and a great granddaughter, Kaelynn Van Brocklin. She is survived by her current husband Richard Lade; three sons, Jon, Mark, “Rocky” and Tim; two daughters, Sherri Jo and Mary Alice; and eighteen grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren; stepchildren, Rick Lade and Patricia Koonce.
