Hobart Warren Graeff Hobart Warren Graeff, 91, passed away on May 4, 2024. Visitation will be at 10:30 with the celebration of life service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 29th at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence. He was born in Osborn, MO to Albert Graeff and Gertrude Mix Graeff where he lived until he began serving his country in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his brother, Ray Graeff of Osborn, MO. After completing his service, he moved to Independence where he was a resident for 68 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Bernice Higdon Graeff, and they had two daughters, Barbara Graeff Vinck and Linda Lucille Read, both of Independence. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Reed of Washington. He married and is survived by his second wife, Betty Jean Harra Graeff of Buckner, MO. He has a stepson Jim Harra and stepdaughter Marta Harra both of Columbia, Tennessee, a stepdaughter Peggy Harra of Buckner and stepchildren Clarence Harra and Virginia Harra both who preceded him in death. He has 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. For most of his career, he owned two auto supply stores, Jackson County Auto Supply in Independence and Buckner Auto Supply in Buckner. He was a member of the Community of Christ Church. He loved to travel, visiting several countries and loved spending time outdoors. He especially loved animals and enjoyed feeding the many birds, squirrels, raccoons and other animals that would join him on his back deck. He is beloved by his family and friends for his friendliness, his artistry, storytelling, humor, creativity and kindness and most of all for his deep love for his family. He will be greatly missed. |
