Dearly Beloved Brothers, Sisters, and Friends,
No words can adequately express our grateful thanks and appreciation for the hundreds of prayers offered on behalf of Lyle, myself, and our family; the many notes and cards of inspiration and encouragement; and many, many administrations by God’s faithful servants.
The past five months have not been what one wishes to endure. There were many days of lots of tears and sorrow and my own health difficulties —but God is faithful. Our loving Savior has not only kept me in his hands, but also provided a wonderful gift of our first great grandchild—“Miss” Miriam Harper Smith—just days prior to the beginning of our battle with the “Prince of Persia.” Perhaps she came to us “for such a time as this”—to be an instrument in the hand of God to bring joy and consolation to a great grandmother during her time of grief and sorrow. For this we also give praise and thanks to our Lord.
I am now at peace, as is Lyle who peacefully passed away , July 19, at 10:20 a.m. at the Anew Healthcare Odessa nursing home. The burden is gone; the battle done.
