Australian Restoration News for December/January
As the words to one song says, "GOD ONLY KNOWS..." Only God knew what 2020 was going to bring to the world, and now we are nearing the end, again, Only God Knows what is in store for us and the world in 2021. As we find ourselves in various states of concern, hope, etc. we always have faith and trust in our God, who because He knows all things has promised that He would be with us always.
One of the well-loved hymns about Jesus Christ, while often only sung at Christmas time, “Joy To The World, The Lord IS Come..." is a hymn that speaks to us every day of the year and year after year. There is another hymn entitled, "The Lord Will Come." It is the same tune as Joy to the World. Both speak of the power, promises, and assurance we have in our Mighty God.
We are all very much aware that the entire life of Christ is vitally important to our salvation. But His earthly life had to start just like ours, as a baby. The scriptures tell us much about the birth, Christ's genealogy, and many events in His life. The Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants both compliment these things very well.
"Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6. "...and they shall call his name Emmanuel, (which being interpreted, is, God with us." Matthew 2:6 IV.
These scriptures among the many others are God's word to man. In today's world, maybe more than at any other time in history, mankind is turning away from anything and everything that has to do with God, religion, or simply natural vs unnatural, or good and bad. If a person does not want to believe in God or that we are bound to follow God's commandments, they just say, "I don't believe in a God, if there is one." In Genesis 5:4 in the Inspired Version, it reads, “But, behold, also Cain hearkened not, saying, Who is the Lord, that I should know him?"
This seems to be what is happening in the United States and all over the world, which would indicate that there will be "Spiritual showdown" in the near future. The situation in the USA is extremely critical to the future of our nation and the world. The USA/world and the Church have not fulfilled our purposes and thus stand in the path of God's judgment.
BUT, JOY TO THE WORLD, THE LORD IS COME! Our challenge is to stay on the straight and narrow path, holding on to the Rod of Iron. God bless each of you as you finish this year and embark into 2021, boldly going where no man has ever been, But God is already there. Trust and Obey, there is NO other way.
As always, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is our ultimate example. In every situation, He was guided by the instructions given to Him by His Father. This is shown clearly in Matthew 4:1-10 when, after having been led by the Spirit, into the wilderness to be with God, and fasting for 40 days and nights, and had communed with God, was left to be tempted of the devil. Jesus, in all three temptations, used the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, when He said, "It is written...."
We must know the Word of God well enough so that at every encounter with the adversary or those who work with the adversary, we will know how to use the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God, as we are told in Ephesians 6:17. Remember also, that often, the adversary's helpers are wolves among the sheep. As Jesus responded in the first temptation, "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Amen and Amen!
Others can have their "Happy Holidays," and "Season's Greetings," I will thankfully say, "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" and thank you God for your Great Gift to Us.
The Saints of Australia are to be commended for taking advantage of modern technology to stay in touch with each other. This is most vital to us in these trying times.
Most everything has been curtailed due to the virus and the fear it has inflicted in the lives of many people. Please know, this is not all just about a virus. Look for the deeper, hidden agenda of our governments.
Most Branches in the US are back to meeting regularly in their buildings. Centre Place Restoration School (CPRS) is functioning as well as can be expected in the crisis.
The Conference of Restoration Elders (CRE) is also doing the best they can. Most things are being done with Zoom technology.
TIDINGS OF ZION (TOZ) CHANGES: The CRE is making a change in the printing and mailing of TOZ, due to expenses. Check your last issue, #132 for all the information. There will be one more issue, (October/November/December and then they will make the changes.
Many things are on hold regarding the missionary trips. I am not aware of any trips planned for some time.

Vol 4 Chapter 16 Concerns for the Earth Recently I had a man at work send me a compilation of photos and writings about the state of the Earth and damage Man is causing to animals and the environment with a prediction that by the year 2066 that the whole Earth would be brown and dead, and not able to sustain anything. He is genuinely concerned and believes Mankind isn’t worthy to be here anymore and that the animals deserve to live here but not us. I will address some of these views soon, but first would like to acknowledge that this man is a good man by nature, kind and considerate etc. The photos he shared were of real situations that do exist today. Plastics from countries like India and China are polluting the oceans in a devastating manner which is killing and deforming many of the creatures God Created. We are not innocent in countries like Australia and America either, however in my lifetime things have changed for the better. I shared with this man how in Brisbane alone it is much better today than when I was a child. For instance when a little boy my mother would take me into the city to pay bills in person as it was done back then. I remember the footpaths and gutters being completely covered in cigarette butts, on one occasion it was raining and the cigarette butts had all turned to a slop underfoot. I can still remember the slushy sound as we walked. If a diesel truck drove up the street on a hill there were clouds of black smoke that made it hard to see. The Brisbane River was brown when I was a child. These days there are virtually no cigarette butts or rubbish laying round to wash into the river when it rains. The dredging in the River for gravel has been banned and the River is now a beautiful deep green to blue in the lower reaches, as is Moreton Bay now, where it was once a mirky brown. My grandparents would talk about seeing whales just off the beach when they were young, I didn’t see my first whale till I was about 30 maybe more, now there are thousands that migrate north to breed and come back again, so for about 6 months of the year if you are at the coast you will likely see whales today. I remember the first whale we saw as a family, caused us to quickly finish our lunch on the water and follow them in our car, from rocky headland to the next because it was such a novelty. I am not making excuses for the lack of stewardship shown towards the Earth that God entrusted to our care, I just wanted to bring balance to the world and view that animals are paramount. Let us read Romans 1:18-32 which points out that God knew how people in our day would worship the creation more than the Creator who gave them life. [Romans 1:18] For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men; who love not the truth, but remain in unrighteousness, [Romans 1:19] After that which may be known of God is manifest to them. [Romans 1:20] For God hath revealed unto them the invisible things of him, from the creation of the world, which are clearly seen; things which are not seen being understood by the things that are made, through his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse; [Romans 1:21] Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were they thankful, but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish hearts were darkened. [Romans 1:22] Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. [Romans 1:23] And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. [Romans 1:24] Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, through the lusts of their own hearts; to dishonor their own bodies between themselves; [Romans 1:25] Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. [Romans 1:26] For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections; for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature; [Romans 1:27] And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet. [Romans 1:28] And even as they did not like to retain God according to some knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; [Romans 1:29] Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, [Romans 1:30] Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, [Romans 1:31] Without understanding, covenant-breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful. [Romans 1:32] And some who, knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, are inexcusable, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. Verses 1 to 20 give us to know that God has always been there, reaching out to His creation, even bearing witness to us of His existence through the things which he has made. Ultimately we are without excuse if we will open our eyes to see and our ears to hear and our hearts and minds to receive of God’s Spirit and understanding. The following verses talk about the age old problem we have of pride, procrastination, forgetfulness and distractions, incorrect beliefs and rebellious hearts against God as He truly is. As we fall away from God, we begin to try and take His place. God in turn withdraws His Spirit and turns us over to a reprobate mind so our judgement may be sure at the last day. Verse 23 in particular says people are capable of changing in their minds the incorruptible God to the likeness of Men, Birds and other creatures. We could say that’s only people who worship images of men and women or some countries that have and maybe still do worship images of animals like the Egyptians and Pagans of old. However, it goes deeper than this, to worship is to honour, praise and devote our time, voice, praise and meditation to something or someone. Modern day society often devotes the majority of their lives and meditation to work, sports clubs and star players, musicians and bands, all consuming hobbies, obtaining money etc. All these are ok and even good if in balance in our lives and God receives our constant thankfulness, praise, prayer, meditation and effort. Verse 25 is warning us not to change the truth of God into a lie, by worshipping and serving the creature more than the creator. In this one area alone there is great imbalance in the world. I am not saying we don’t need to be good stewards over God’s creatures of which we can be mindful. But rather helping to change our world to suit God’s laws will bring far more blessings and increase and benefits. The rest of this scripture is very relevant to the day in which we live. Issues covered like women wanting to use their bodies against the natural way God created them to be. These days some women want to become men, some want to be in physical relationships with other women. Even our schools are teaching them from young that they have rights to do so, rather than teaching them to know God has blessed them to be girls and later women with God given gifts and talents to achieve great things in God’s eyes which will bring the greatest fulfillment to them as individuals and within their family. It speaks also of men leaving the natural role of a woman in the way God created them both to be, and choosing to be in relationships physically with other men, lusting after them and doing that which is wrong in the site of God. Verses 29 to 31 cover many sinful ways we can fall short when we have drifted away from God. One that particularly caught my attention is being disobedient to parents, I doubt there has ever been a time in earths history where children have lorded over their parents and ruled in the home and in public. We have a city in Australia called Townsville, 8 year old children form gangs and destroy shopping centres, and hold up moving vehicles and hijack the car through sheer numbers. Closer to home at Birkdale when my grandmother was still alive groups of children were beating up old people for a while who could no longer defend themselves and steal their belongings. In short the Earth does have a use by date, only God knows what it is, but after evil has been removed, righteousness shall rein through Christ for 1000 years and for a short season at the end Satan will be loosed again to do his thing to test all those who have never known temptation like we do today. Once this is sorted, there is a new Heaven and a new Earth. The Holy Cities then return in Glory. What gives me comfort in this is that God has it all under control, the Earth will not fail to meet the requirements of its creation because the Earth is complely faithful and has a Spirit and agency. This is why when sin abounds the Earth reacts in God’s timing and destroys sin, when there is righteousness the earth brings forth in abundance in food water and precious things. People these days are extremely worried about Global Warming etc. and have all sorts of reasons why they believe it is the case and how people are causing it supposedly. It wasn’t all that long ago the prevailing theory was that mans actions were going to bring about another Ice Age through pollution. Today it is doom and gloom about rising temperature. I can say this much with great certainty, Throughout the Earths history Temperatures have indeed risen to extreme levels killing many people however it was directly related to the degree of Sin and Transgression that was being lived out in the lives of the people alive at the time. As the people repented and humbled themselves before God the balance was again restored and the rains returned bringing life and prosperity. Let us read Ether 4:33-35 and 41-42. [Ether 4:33] But the people believed not the words of the prophets, but they cast them out; and some of them they cast into pits, and left them to perish. [Ether 4:34] And it came to pass that they did all these things according to the commandment of the King Heth. [Ether 4:35] And it came to pass that there began to be a great dearth upon the land, and the inhabitants began to be destroyed exceeding fast, because of the dearth, for there was no rain upon the face of the earth; and there came forth poisonous serpents also upon the face of the land, and did poison many people. [Ether 4:41] And it came to pass that when they had humbled themselves sufficiently before the Lord, he did send rain upon the face of the earth, and the people began to revive again, and there began to be fruit in the north countries, and in all the countries round about. [Ether 4:42] And the Lord did shew forth his power unto them in preserving them from famine. In this scripture we see that when the people rebelled against the Prophets of God and killed them for asking the people to repent of their sins, God caused a great dearth which means an inadequate supply; scarcity; lacking essentials like food and water and on top of this sent poisonous serpents. These are the sort of things God does to remind us of our place before Him. He doesn’t ask much, but if we as a society altogether reject him, He withdraws his Spirit and Blessings, and the Earth begins to alter the balance and our lives become very unpleasant until there is loss of life because we have rejected the giver of life. However if we will humble ourselves and give honour to the God that made and upholds us, He blesses, and the Earth ceases to spew us out. Because the world as a whole has forgotten that to be learned is good, only if we keep the commandments of God. Most have believed they are wise in themselves and in turn have become fools to the simple truths of God. Therefore the world is ripening in sin and corruption and God is going to curse the world with great heat. Other problems shall also prevail like the sea heaving beyond its bounds, along with earthquakes and volcanoes, great hail storms, and when hatred grows there shall also be wars and contentions among people all over the world, Bullies shall rise up in power and rule by dictatorship worldwide. In fact we are told there will only be one place where peace shall abound, where they shall have an eye single to the glory of God. Where love is strength, there is no sickness, no poor and the people are of one heart and mind. In fact there shall be no curse there and Christ shall be in their midst and no enemy shall dare come against Him and His people. As these cursed things of which we have spoken come to pass Satan will continue to tell the people they have brought it upon themselves through pollution and Carbon emissions and they need to sacrifice even more of their freedoms to bring balance to the world. However the believers will know with certainty it is for the sins of the world that these things are coming to pass and rather than being in despair, God’s people will rejoice for they know that the time of Christ is very near, even at the doors. God truly did a marvelous work in bringing forth the Church and the Book of Mormon. Let us read Mormon 4:17-21 and 36 to 37 [Mormon 4:17] I am the son of Mormon, and my father was a descendant of Nephi; and I am the same who hideth up this record unto the Lord; the plates thereof are of no worth, because of the commandment of the Lord. [Mormon 4:18] For he truly saith, that no one shall have them to get gain; but the record thereof is of great worth; and whoso shall bring it to light, him will the Lord bless. [Mormon 4:19] For no one can have power to bring it to light, save it be given him of God; for God will that it shall be done with an eye single to his glory, or the welfare of the ancient and long dispersed covenant people of the Lord. [Mormon 4:20] And blessed be him that shall bring this thing to light; for it shall be brought out of darkness unto light, according to the word of God; [Mormon 4:21] Yea, it shall be brought out of the earth, and it shall shine forth out of darkness, and come unto the knowledge of the people: and it shall be done by the power of God; and if there be faults, they be faults of a man. [Mormon 4:36] Yea, it shall come in a day when the power of God shall be denied, and churches become defiled, and shall be lifted up in the pride of their hearts; yea, even in a day when leaders of churches, and teachers, in the pride of their hearts, even to the envying of them who belong to their churches; [Mormon 4:37] Yea, it shall come in a day when there shall be heard of fires, and tempests, and vapors of smoke in foreign lands; and there shall also be heard of wars and rumors of wars, and earthquakes in divers places; [Mormon 4:38] Yea, it shall come in a day when there shall be great pollutions upon the face of the earth; Never let us think that God is not in control, He is! Never let us think that the Earth will fail to fulfil the ends of its creation because it will. Never let us think God hasn’t seen our day and the exact problems we face because He has and He is prepared against it. We only need to have faith and a desire to have an eye single to His Glory, a willingness to put our hand in His and let Him direct us for good, trusting in Him completely for our salvation both Spiritually and physically. God knows the thoughts and plans of evil doers before they think or act. God knows what shall be allowed to prevail for a season and what he will destroy for the righteous sake. We need to be standing in Holy places with upheld hands in prayer praise and thanksgiving at all times, always in prayer and supplication before the Lord. For a final thought of encouragement lets read Isaiah 41:10-13 [Isaiah 41:10] Fear thou not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed; for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. [Isaiah 41:11] Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded; they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. [Isaiah 41:12] Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee; they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of naught. [Isaiah 41:13] For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. May God bless all who read these scriptures and bless you all individually to be able to interpret them for yourselves according to the power of the Holy Ghost which is in you, in Christ’s name, I ask , Amen. *****************************

The Light of Revelation - When we speak to God, it’s called prayer. When God speaks to us, it’s called revelation. Just like light pushes away darkness, revelation makes it easier to understand truth and find joy.
Life has purpose and meaning. God, our loving Father, wants us to find happiness and joy. He created a plan for us to grow, live by faith, and return to live with Him someday. God’s plan, often called the plan of salvation, gives meaning and context to our life here on earth by answering the big questions: “Where did I come from?” “Why am I here?” and “What happens after I die?” Life is a proving ground for us. God sent us to earth to learn and grow through experiences, both pleasant and painful. He lets us choose between good and evil and lets us decide whether we will serve others or focus only about ourselves. The challenge is to have faith in His plan even though we don’t have all of the answers. Because we all make mistakes, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, so we can be cleansed and forgiven. When we accept Jesus and follow His example, we become less selfish and can enjoy greater love, peace, and joy.
