Kathryn Jean Coy Obituary Notice
Kathryn Jean Coy, 92, of Independence, MO, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Coy was born January 21, 1929, in Independence, MO., and lived in Independence all of her life. She was a Sr. LPN nurse at St. Luke's in Kansas City, MO and an OB nurse at Truman Medical East for 18 years when she retired. She attended the Living Hope Restoration Branch Church for many years and had been a member of the RLDS church attending East Alton and Walnut Gardens Congregations. Kathryn was a member of the TOPS club in Independence, MO. She and her husband loved and traveled in the US for several years, from Maine to Alaska, Florida to New Mexico and all places in-between.
Kathryn is preceded in death by her husband, Dorman E. Coy in 2002; her daughter Bonita L. Coy, in 2014; and her sister, Virginia B Burns of Kansas City, MO.
She is survived by her son, James R. Coy, of Ferndale, MI, his wife Lin; four grandchildren, Courtney Coy, of Kansas City, MO, Christopher Coy and his wife Sarah, of Independence, MO, Mason Coy of Pontiac, MI, and Hannah Coy of Pontiac MI; four great-grandchildren, Evan, Alice, Silas and James; her niece Francis K. Burns of Independence, MO.; and nephew, Emory Burns, of Sugar Creek, MO.
Visitation from 4:00pm to 5:00pm, funeral service 5:00pm, at the Living Hope Restoration Branch Church on Monday, December 20, 2021. Committal service will be held at Mound Grove Cemetery on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 1:00pm.
