Truman Alexander Woods, 21, of Independence, MO, passed away on April 8, 2023. He was born in Kansas City, MO to Derek and Catherine (Johnson) Woods on December 17, 2001. Truman was a smart young man who loved history and was a hard worker. He had a quirky, dry sense of humor. Truman had the biggest heart and loved his family deeply, including all of the furry family members. He enjoyed playing french horn and being a member of the band at Blue Springs South High School. Truman was an avid football fan and loved cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Battlehawks; always knowing stats and who would be playing next. Truman is survived by his father Derek Woods, mother Catherine and Tim Fortier; brother Christian and Jessica Woods, sister Nicole Woods and Charles L. Rogers III, sister Audrey Woods; nephew Jameson Woods; paternal grandparents Nadine and Larry Stallbaumer; maternal aunts Laurie and Randy Hale, Julie and Manuel David, paternal aunt Kim and Steve Barnholtz; as well as many cousins, extended family, and friends. He is preceded in death by sister Caitlyn Max Woods, maternal grandparents Donald K. and Marilyn R. Johnson, and paternal grandpa Max R. Woods Jr. There will be a celebration of life at Village Heights Community of Christ Church, 1009 N Farview Dr, Independence, MO at 1:00pm on Saturday, April 22nd. Friends and family are invited to gather in the fellowship hall immediately following. In honor of Truman, attire will be casual/comfortable.
