New Resource! Restoration Scriptures 101

This new resource will help everyone--young and older--in a group or family to become better students of the Scriptures. Obviously, Restoration Scriptures 101 is a beginning level study. But we all have to start somewhere! This is a 40-page booklet which has four parts: • Learning what our Scriptures are and how we got them. This is background information and will not be tested. • Learning the order of the books. You need to prove you can say the names of the books in the Book of Mormon and the Bible in the correct order. • Learning to retell Bible stories and Book of Mormon stories. You need to prove you can repeat main ideas. • Learning and reciting verses from the Bible, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants. Prove you can do it. Each person accepting the challenges in Restoration Scriptures 101 will select one of more adult examiners, who will initial and date a challenge when you prove you can do it. You might choose a parent, grandparent, husband, wife, priesthood member, or friend as your examiner. The examiner should be someone who wants to help you but won't just give you the answers. Restoration Scriptures 101 has three skill levels: LEVEL 1: • Say the names of the 15 Book of Mormon books in order. • Tell 10 stories from each section--Old Testament, New Testament, and Book of Mormon--a total of 30 stories. • Recite 15 verses from each section--Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants--a total of 60 verses. LEVEL 2: • Say the names of the 27 New Testament books in order. • Tell 5 more stories from each section--Old Testament, New Testament, and Book of Mormon--for a total of 45 stories. • Recite 5 more verses from each section--Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants--for a total of 80 verses. LEVEL 3: • Say the names of the 38 Old Testament books in order. • Tell 5 more stories from each section--Old Testament, New Testament, and Book of Mormon--for a total of 60 stories. • Recite 5 more verses from each section--Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants--for a total of 100 verses. The stories and the verses to learn are contained in the booklet along with their references. Each booklet comes with bright gold stars to stick on the cover each time you complete ALL the requirements for a skill level. The cost of each booklet is $3.50.
