Robert Moe - Obituary January 28, 1927 — October 9, 2023 Independence Robert Gordon Moe, (called Bob) age 96 of Independence Missouri, the son of Clarence and Regina (Gord) Moe, was born in Yakima, Washington, on January 28, 1927. He passed away at the St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri on October 9, 2023. Bob grew up in Wapato, Washington and after graduating from High School in 1944, he served as a Sergeant during World War II in the United States Army from December 1945 – February 1947. On June 27, 1946, Bob married Verl Shrock. Bob and Verl purchased 45 acres of undeveloped land in the Columbia Basin Project of Pasco, Washington. The land was in its natural state of sagebrush and sand and was sold by the government giving preference to qualified veterans of WWII. During their years experiencing with different crops, they became leaders in the farming area. Bob was recognized and helped establish the Future Farmers of America Program in area schools. Bob was awarded the Honorary Chapter Degrees Outstanding Service Award. In the end years of farming, Bob specialized in growing asparagus on all 45 acres. He was known at the University of Washington as the best asparagus grower in the state. Later in his life, Bob became a realtor specializing in commercial and farm sales. Bob also had a Private Pilot License. He enjoyed renting a small plane to fly back and forth for farming. Bob and Verl had five children, Jerry, Gary, Vickey, Dennis, and Kristi. Bob was an active member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints in Pasco, Washington. While living there he was Pastor at his church 6 years, Auditor 4 years, General Church Trustee 15 years, and 6 years Director of the Montana Reunion. In 1995, Bob and Verl, by direction from the Lord, were told to move to Zion, Independence, Missouri being the Headquarters or Centerplace. They purchased a home in Buckner, Missouri, where they continued to be active in the Lord’s work. Bob lost his loving wife, Verl, on November 6, 2009, after 63 years of marriage. On June 12, 2010, Bob married Lois Heide Lane. She had also lost her husband, Gerald, who had passed away April 15, 1997, after 47 years of marriage. Bob and Lois both had a testimony from the Lord they were to marry each other. Their greatest desire was to continue sharing the truth of the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ restored again upon the Earth on April 6, 1830, according to the Scriptures-The Inspired Version of the Bible, The Book of Mormon, and the Doctrine and Covenants. And to think of these things in relation to the Kingdom of God, the building of Zion, and the winning of souls to Christ. During Bob’s lifetime he performed many church services, marriages, weddings, funerals, pastorships, reunions, taught classes, boy scout leader, gave many sermons and administrations. Proceeding Bob in death were his parents, Clarence and Regina (Gord) Moe; brother, Roger Moe; wife Verl Shrock Moe; 2 children, Dennis Moe and Kristi Moe-Rymes; stepson, Terry Lane; grandsons Jason Moe and Shannon Moe-Azure; granddaughter, Kimberly Moe; and great -grandson, Cade Rhymes. Bob is survived by his wife, Lois Lane Moe; 3 children, Jerry Moe (Lupe), Gary Moe (Carole), Vickey Moe-Azure (Michael); daughter-in-law Nancy Smith Moe (Dennis); son-in-law Barry Rhymes (Kristi); stepdaughter Sharon Lane Griffin (Elvin); 21 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren and their spouses; 37 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bob’s greatest passion was always devoted in serving his Savior, Jesus Christ. We know he is happy in Heaven now, free of all his bodily bondage, and free to continue sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
