DISRUPTION
Unexpectedly, we had an unusual yet potentially uncomfortable occasion at our last meeting that challenged our beliefs in the scriptures, how we look at them and how we search for truth. Those challenges are always good for us because we always want to KNOW truth, GROW in the truth and respond to God in ways that will please him, set a Godly example and further the reputation and growth of the Kingdom. Because we are not bound by the precepts of men (or try not to be), we are in the position to be able to obey God on his terms. This is so important. We must act and believe on His scripture and His direction or get out of his way. In our prayers and in our scripture searches these past four days, God has reinforced, in each of us, the truths of the Gospel and has helped us grow closer to him in the process. He has also helped us in our personal discernment of love and truth and in the desire to know and love him more. We have, I trust, found each day more awesome and worshipful while we yield ourselves to him.
In this yielding ourselves to God, and of course to Jesus, we experience this seeming paradox, that while overwhelmed by the awesomeness of creation, our self-awareness and self-importance vanishes, and our love for God, his gospel and for people grows. We are reminded that we must not, especially the priesthood among us, call attention to ourselves or to try to promote ourselves as superiors. We are servants, assigned to uphold and enable others so they can find and fully exercise their God-given identities, purposes and expression. We are NEVER, NEVER someone’s superior in intellect, prestige or spiritual status. To pretend such is a self-deception, at best; leaving us nakedly exposed as pretenders. In Isaiah 50:8, this behavior is illuminated thus: “Behold all ye that kindleth fire, that compass yourselves about with sparks, walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks which ye have kindled; this shall ye have of my hand, ye shall lie down in sorrow.” This is not a place to flaunt credentials or priesthood “status”.
As Christians, commissioned with the responsibility to build and exemplify the “kingdom of love and light”, let us happily and expectantly work together in that love and light. I think this is the most exciting thing that can happen to us.
REPORT
At our last meeting, we were coached by Laura Cozart on means and guidelines for providing articles to be published in Zionworks’ web site. These guidelines include: keep it brief and succinct; supply links and resources, since there is so much good info already out there; use “what, why, who, when, how”; and to encourage the readers/viewers to do further research and to experiment with and apply the information. Laura has an example article you can contact her for.
