Funeral notice for Mel Enix


Melvin J. Enix, age 88, of Holden, Missouri, formerly of Liberty, Missouri, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018, at the home of his son Micheal Enix of Independence, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be held Monday June 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Grave site burial will be at 12:00 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Mel was under the care of Hospice due to cancer.

Mel was born September 6, 1929, in Fresno, California. He is son to Theodore and Lillian Enix who have preceded him in death. He had one brother, Kenneth Enix of Lynn Missouri who has also preceded him in death.

Mel was married to Norma G. Enix January 9, 1955 in Fresno, California.

Mr. and Mrs. Enix moved from Fresno, California, in 1965 to Cameron, Missouri, then to Liberty, Missouri in 1966. Moving from Liberty, in 1984, they made their home in Holden, Missouri.

Mr. Enix and family were members of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Mr. Enix held the office of Teacher. He, his Son Douglas, and his family attended the Chilhowee Restoration Branch, in Chilhowee, Missouri.

Mr. Enix was a machinist by trade, working for various companies in the Kansas City area, including Midwest Hanger CO., Best Tool and Design, JB Hunt, Remington Arms and then Olin Arms of Lake City, Missouri.

He served in the U.S. Army, U.S. National Guard, and Forestry service as a fire fighter. He was later a Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of America. He also enjoyed camping, sailing, restoring cars, steam trains, and wood carving.

Mr. Enix is survived by three sons, James T. Enix of Rose Hill, Kansas, D. Eric Enix of Holden, Missouri, Michael J. Enix of Independence, Missouri; a daughter, Cecile L. Puterbaugh of Ogden, Utah, eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Funeral Services will be held Monday June 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Pallbears will be James T. Enix, D. Eric Enix, Michael J. Enix, Mike Enix Jr., Joshua Enix, Russ Puterbaugh, and Jacob A. Enix

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Melvin Enix Memorial Fund with checks made payable to Mike Enix and can be left in care of the funeral home.
