The Ministry of Angels

Many throughout the ages have received the ministry of angels, even from the beginning and continuing to the present day. Angels have come to teach, encourage, assist, guide and to prophesy.

“Have angels ceased to appear unto the children of men?  . . . Behold I say unto you, nay, for it is by faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels appear and minister unto men; Wherefore if these things have ceased, wo be unto the children of men, for it is because of unbelief, and all is vain; . . . Wherefore, if these things have ceased, then has faith ceased also; and awful is the state of man . . .” (Moroni 7:38-43).

We can expect the ministry of angels to be received by people of strong faith in our day even as they have brought ministry to people in the past. “for behold, they [angels] are subject unto him [God] to minister according to the word of his command, shewing [showing] themselves unto them of strong faith” (Moroni 7:30-31). Paul described angels as “ministering spirits.” “And of angels he saith, Angels are ministering spirits” (Hebrews 1:7).

Angels are often depicted with wings. Daniel described the appearance of the angel Gabriel to him in these words: “Yea, while I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision . . . being caused to fly swiftly, touched me . . . And he informed me, and talked to me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding” (Daniel 9:21-22). Angels “Fly in the midst of heaven” (Revelation 14:6), but wings are never mentioned.

Three men [angels] appeared to Abraham and they ate with him. One of the angels said, “Sarah thy wife shall have a son” (Genesis 18). Sarah heard this and laughed at what she considered to be an impossibility.  One of the angels asked why Sarah had laughed. Then he asked: “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” (Genesis 18:13-14). “For with God, nothing can be impossible” (Luke 1:37).

Paul counseled: “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers; for thereby some have entertained angels unawares” (Hebrews 13:2). Evidently angels cannot be identified by their clothing or their wings. They often look like ordinary people.

The date was November 19, 2006. I was at Hong Kong’s International airport. The departure time of my flight to the USA was near. I could not find the departure gate of my flight. I had asked for assistance at an information desk, but we could not communicate. I was desperate. I prayed. Almost immediately a young man approached and I said to him, “I believe you are the man who can help me.” He smiled and answered in his beautiful mid-western English: “I will help you and stay with you as long as you need me!” He escorted me to my gate. I arrived without a minute to spare! In the rush I had neglected to ask the young man his name and address. I believe he was sent from heaven. My fervent prayer was heard and immediately answered. This experience was more than a coincidence. TYL.

Dear Ones,

Female angels are rarely, if ever, mentioned in the Scriptures. In spite of this scarcity of information on female angels some have testified of receiving ministry from them. George Washington, our first President reported that during the winter of 1777, which he spent at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, he received a vision. He said: “I do not know whether it is owing to the anxiety of my mind, or what, but this afternoon, as I was sitting at this very table engaged in preparing a dispatch, something in the apartment seemed to disturb me. Looking up, I beheld, standing opposite to me, a singularly beautiful female.” This angel prophesied of three great perils which would threaten to destroy our nation. Two of the perils have been fulfilled, thus strengthening the credibility of the entire prophecy.

The other witnesses of female angels have been reported by members of my own family. We are descendants of the McKenzie’s who joined the church in England as a result of the miraculous healing of my great-grandmother Mary Ann McKenzie, who at the age of five years was immediately healed, although she was not expected to live through the night. Mary Ann was mother of my Grandmother Minnie Harper. Mary Ann’s son, Fred A Fry had become very sick. He got up from his bed and walked into another room and on the wall was a picture of his parents, Ammon and Mary Ann Fry. As he looked at his mother’s picture, he said, “Oh, Ma, I wish you were here to pray for me.” Then he went back to his bed. As he laid down again, he heard the front door open and in walked three young women with his mother Mary Ann. His mother appeared to be a young woman too. She had died at age 72, but now she appeared to be approximately 30 years old. Apparently we return to a younger age when we die. It was made known to my great-uncle Fred that the other three young women were his sisters who had died in their infancy. They had grown and had attained the age of about thirty years also. They were all dressed in white and their hair was hanging down to their waists.

Uncle Fred’s mother knelt and laid her hands upon his sick stomach or abdomen. Her lips moved as she prayed. This was habit throughout her life. She never prayed aloud. When she asked the blessing upon the food, we all bowed our head and prayed silently. Then to let us know when she was finished with her prayer, she would rattle her silverware. And as it was this time, she moved her lips in silent prayer. As she prayed the three young women watched their mother, Mary Ann, as she prayed.

When she finished her prayer she arose and all four women walked out. Uncle Fred remembered hearing the front door click. He got up, but they had vanished, and he was healed.

Fred Alma Fry, who was named for his father, Uncle Fred Fry, was called to be a pastor of one of the branches in Independence, Missouri. There was trouble in this branch and he needed some counsel. He had two counselors who had been appointed. He had talked to them. He fasted and prayed. The next day was Communion Sunday and he was still troubled.

Finally about 4AM he went to sleep and in a dream he saw an escalator. Coming down it were two people. One of them was Mary Ann and the other was our Great Grandfather, Ammon. Now, Fred Alma had not seen either one of them because they had died before he was born. But he knew who they were. He said that Mary Ann came up to him and told him what he should do to take care of the problem in his branch. “Now, Fred Alma, this is the way you can handle it.” Then she and Grandfather went back up the escalator.

The next morning at the Communion Service Pastor Fred Alma Fry told the people what they needed to do to alleviate the problem.

The Lord never fails you when you call upon Him in faith believing. May these experiences of Mary Ann increase your faith.

My Love to All,

High Priest Francis Harper
