FASTING AND PRAYING FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD SEPTEMBER 4, 2020

The High Priests of the Restoration Branches as well as many other groups and branches have asked the Saints to observe each Sunday as a day of fasting and prayer. There are many reasons for asking the Saints to fast and pray. The ultimate objective, however, is for the return of Jesus Christ in His Glory and the establishment of His Kingdom (Zion) on earth.

Jesus is our chief example regarding fasting and prayer, as he fasted and prayed often, as indicated in the scriptures. In our efforts to grow spiritually, we always hear fast, pray, and study because they are the pillars of our spiritual growth and development.

We continue our efforts for the return of Jesus and the coming of His Kingdom on earth. As a part of our preparation for those great events, we are already at Day 40 of the 60 days of preparation for the Solemn Assembly on Sunday, September 27, 2020. The theme today is vital to our being ready for the above mentioned events as it draws our attention back to the Book of Daniel.

The Book of Daniel is most interesting. It includes three times that Daniel fasted in different ways and one time when someone else fasted, but today's emphasis is on Daniel 9. While sackcloth and ashes may not be "our thing," another way of stating Daniel 9:3 might be, "And I set my face unto the Lord God to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting and a broken heart and contrite spirit."

Daniel did not hold back anything from the Lord, neither should we. We have to lay it all on the line. Verses 2 an 8 mention "confusion of faces." That means shame and remorse for our sins.

As daily draw closer to the Solemn Assembly, take courage and read verses 20-21.

"AND WHILE I WAS SPEAKING, AND PRAYING, AND CONFESSING MY SIN AND THE SIN OF MY PEOPLE ISRAEL.....GABRIEL......TOUCHED ME...AND INFORMED ME AND TALKED WITH ME..."

We are one week closer to these great evens than last week. Remain steadfast and determined in your efforts to be prepared. Read gain DC 85:20 a,b.  Stay strong and hold fasting to the Rod of Iron.

Saints, keep up the great work!

God bless each of you in this time of trial and assist you in your efforts to come unto Him.
