LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD SEPTEMBER 22, 2022
Dear Saints all Over God’s Earth,
Blessed be the Name of the Lord, God, Most High! May His richest blessings be unto you according to your needs and response to His commandments.
September 22, 2022, a memorable and important date in the lives of those who cherish Our Heavenly Father, and treasure up in our hearts and minds the beauty and value of His Holy Word, especially today, as we remember the marvelous event when Joseph Smith Jr. was permitted to take the Golden Plates from Hill Cumorah and eventually translate them, by the gift and power of God, into the Book of Mormon.
There is a huge effort being made by many, especially in the USA and western world, to destroy our culture and history. As we give thought to “Living in the Kingdom of God,” do we know our church history well enough to “live it and share it with those we come into contact with?
Two suggested readings for today are Church History Volume One, Chapter Two and Alma 17. After serving as Chief Judge and High priest of the Church, Alma, at the end of chapter two, “confined himself wholly to the high priesthood of the holy order of God.” Though he still had other responsibilities, his main focus was on the ministry. Read chapter three and you will understand why. It seems typical of the church in every dispensation and is today.
In Alma 17, he shares his testimony of what he had done wrong and how God intervened in his life and saved the church and his soul. Isn’t that worth living as if we are really in the Kingdom and stir us to remember our awful state before and blessed state after “finding Jesus?”
May each of us, wherever we find ourselves, “live the Kingdom life.” so others may see Jesus in us. That is one purpose of the Book of Mormon and for our salvation.
Keep in your prayers the Conference of Restoration Elders priesthood gathering at Kirtland, Ohio this weekend. The theme is “Weep between the porch and the altar.” Joel 2:12-17.
God be with you
