IIAW Initiative Meeting Notes and Event Reminder Feb 26

Hello, Initiative and Unity Center Friends,

Reminders:
Meal prep at the Unity Center, 803 W. 23rd Street, Independence, MO:
Saturday, February 27th, 8:00am - 9:00am

Watch for more details for another possible Dumpster Day at the Unity Center Saturday, March 6th.

Saturday, March 13: Neighborhood Clean Up, Unity Center parking lot. We will be doing litter control and possibly edging sidewalks.

More good things keep coming from the Lord to encourage us all in the Initiative. We are still small but steadily growing up together. Where we are and what we are doing has come through constant commitment to prayer, allowing the Holy Spirit to initiate all projects and shoulder the responsibility for them. The Holy Spirit doesn't work for us; we work for the Holy Spirit. What is reported to date is far beyond what any of us would have thought of ourselves to do. It is all about praying for Heaven to come to Earth according to what our Creator, Father God, deems essential to the building up of the Kingdom. The Spirit arranges Divinely directed encounters to bring people into the Initiative who have passions and burdens for certain Kingdom issues. We assist them, and they in turn help us with our Kingdom passions and burdens. We have had great success in our relations with the many ministries in our initiative community because we keep the working gospel to simple essentials. We have been blessed with harmonious relations throughout. Transparency, honesty, and respect with and for each other is of utmost importance. Here again, the loving Holy Spirit has been guiding force through all.

February Meeting Summary:
Opening comments on how great the task is that lies ahead for us in improving our city, were followed immediately by marveling at how much we have accomplished in two years. God brings more skilled servants every month who are on fire for a portion of His Work, and that keeps us greatly encouraged and moving forward. We speak against all fear, and preach to all doubts, saying that God reigns in our city.

Each of the 10 wards of Independence LDS members, last week, assembled 50 hygiene supply bags for our Beloveds, 500 bags total to be distributed by Team Jesus, KC. Socks, wash cloth, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, hand warmers, snacks, and fruit cups, etc.
Kat Ballard, who introduced herself at the January meeting, has gathered 20 volunteers to form LITTER GITTERS, and will start picking up roadway trash in March. They will assist the Neighborhood Clean Up Team on their workdays as well as other times during the month.

The Jesus Jar for Pocket Change totaled $177.19 for the month of February. Adding January donations, the total is $679.66 to date.

The windows for the Unity Center have been ordered, installation to begin when they arrive.

We are interested in names of companies that install fire sprinkler systems. Praying for God's provision and timing. City inspectors will relax the fire code regulations during city declared weather emergencies to allow the Unity Center to establish a warming center for Beloveds.

Ceiling tiles are being removed from the future Ruth House section of the Unity Center, which will be temporary housing for sex trafficking and domestic abuse victims.
Ryan Anderson and Ron Kroeger have established,CAREER GUIDES and COACHES to serve the needs of the unemployed and underemployed in our community, especially our Beloveds. The program emphasizes consecration to prosper, putting God at the helm of seeking and developing careers. They are partnering with Ampray Solar, a local business, and are looking for other businesses who are willing to provide training and jobs. Check out their website:careerguidesandcoaches.com.
Citywide 24/7 Prayer is gaining ground. Churches are committing to prayer and fasting for Independence, following Austin, Texas' model:Heart-Cry for Revival. You can sign up for a prayer time slot atcityofourgodindependence.comand click on Independence Prays.

We discussed the importance of connecting and collaborating with as many ministries, for-profit and non-profit groups in the area, ie. Faith Hope Ministries, Hungry and Homeless Coalition.
Discussed the great need for better public transportation in the city; also, pray for God's plan for transporting Beloveds without cars to the Unity Center to receive services they require.

Thank you, one and all, for your prayers and loving support of this work. It would not have happened without all of you seeking the Lord, and doing your part for His Kingdom. God is making us all Kingdom lovers and builders. Let us go on the know our Lord and Savior even better. We were all created for this work and for victory. Our goal is to help every citizen has available to them, safe, secure living space, enough self-sustaining work, food, and loving family and friends close.
