March 2021 Australian Restoration News

 MARCH, 2021.

.

Around and About the Centre Place          by High Priest Paul J. Gage, Independence, Missouri

G! DAY! To all the wonderful and lovely Saints in Australia. As the year marches on, we continue on our march toward Zion. Though the army of the Lord, at this point, is deployed in many places around the world, it is of great comfort and assurance to know that our Mighty God, our Commander-in Chief and Captain of our souls, knows where each "soldier" is and what they are doing.

We have had a harsh winter, so far this year, the coldest in several years. We have had lots of snow, but spring is hopefully just around the corner, as we say. Sometimes early spring weather plays a trick on nature and the trees start to bud and flowers bloom only to get caught in a late winter storm. The adversary also likes to try to trick the army of the Lord into becoming relaxed or complacent in our service. As one song says, "We can never cease the conflict, till the summons home be heard. We have all, for life enlisted, in the army of the Lord." Truly, God is Marshalling His Army and each of us must be ready at all times.

Part of our duty as soldiers in the Lord's army is to share the good news of Jesus whenever, wherever, and with whoever we can because HE is the only answer for the problems of the world. We are commanded, in Ephesians 6:10-20 to put on the whole armour of God. That is so vital in our spiritual survival, because we do not have access to any armour with which to battle Satan, except God's armour. Take time to read that scripture, again, and especially note verses 18-20. A lady once asked God how often she should "put on" this armour. God told her ‘at least, every 24 hours’. May the Lord be with you and bless you in your daily march toward Zion.

As we move into the spring and summer, many events and activities will be scheduled, but time will tell whether or not they will be held; retreats for all ages, branch activities, and events at Center Place Restoration School (CPRS).

The Central Missouri Branches, Conference of Restoration Elders, and Pastors of Zion co-sponsored an outstanding Priesthood and Men's Retreat in January. Other events are scheduled for April as we enter the month of Church Heritage. A Spring Gathering of the Saints is set for April 9-10, 2021 at CPRS/Waldo Avenue RB.

As follow up to the Solemn Assembly last September, the CRE has a Sixty Days of Focus on Jesus in operation at this time. You can get a copy from the CRE website.

The missionary groups continue to function, but there are no missionaries in the field at this time, except for Brother Doug Smith who is in Kenya, with Judi. They operate a medical clinic in Kenya.

The CPRS school year seems to going well. The current enrolment is about 180 students in grades pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade.    God bless......................Love in Jesus' Name.

Riches from the Scriptures                          by Elder Neil Kerswell, Queensland, Australia.

Vol 4 Chapter 18 Testimony - A Dog is a Blessing

I was sitting, quietly thinking of blessings we have received over the years and about things I was truly thankful for. My heavenly Father led me on a trail of thought, I wasn’t expecting, but really enjoyed and appreciated. During our married life Joanne and I have been blessed with some very faithful dogs that have played a valuable part in watching over and protecting our family from both physical and spiritual dangers. Our first and most incredible all-round dog was Rocky. He was a Rhodesian Ridgeback cross. We weren’t particularly after a puppy that would become a big dog, however when we saw him, big feet and all, we knew he was the one. Rocky grew up with our children from little and became their protector. Whenever they played in the front or back yard he was always watching over them. Strangers were not allowed anywhere near them. Our appreciation of just what a blessing Rocky was became evident one night when I was working on our car.  I began to sense an evil presence near me.  I wasn’t sure what it was, but felt the need to pray for protection while I worked. It wasn’t long and Rocky went into full on protection mode. He started to attack something that I couldn’t see with the natural eyes. He kept circling what I couldn’t see, biting at about leg height and at times jumping into the air and biting at what I imagine was about arm height. I believe to this day that he could see an evil spirit who was coming to annoy a servant of God. I don’t know if all dogs have this ability or whether Rocky had a God given gift. The truth is established through two or three witnesses, I could sense or feel an evil presence but didn’t know exactly where or how, and Rocky confirmed it and fearlessly dealt with it. I had a peaceful experience for the remainder of the time working on the car and marvelled at God’s blessing in our lives.

The blessings didn’t end here, one night we heard Rocky go off like he was killing something. We went to the veranda widow and saw a man in a balaclava trying to climb or run up our six-foot-high fence. His legs were going so fast as Rocky was biting his bottom, it looked like the cartoons we watched as children where their legs look like a circular blur. He did manage to get over and lay on the ground trying to hide. His problem was we could see him because of the street lights and Rocky still wanted to eat him through the fence. I yelled out to tell him we could see him and he should leave (easy to be brave with Rocky). He got up and apologised telling us he was lost and drunk. You might believe him if it wasn’t for the headwear. Thankfully he left and we never had a visit from him again.

Rocky was the exact blessing we needed at the time in life we were living. He had his issues as a puppy he dug up gardens and our planted fruit trees and native trees. He often cried like a child when I disciplined him. His fur would smell if he wasn’t washed regularly which annoyed visitors. However, we wouldn’t have changed a thing, we understand now why we were so drawn to him as a puppy. He had what mattered most for us as a young family.

When our dogs get old, we buy a young pup to learn from the good in our faithful old dog. It has always worked well for us. We may never have another dog like Rocky - complete with his gift set. Nevertheless, we have had some very faithful dogs that have guarded our house and family. Jedda was a Kelpie cross and could clearly say hello and knew exactly where to use it. She taught the dog next door to say hello also. Cooper a Kelpie cross doesn’t let anyone into our Cul-de-sac without warning us, our neighbours love him. Our latest dog Charlie (a give-away pup) a cattle dog cross is learning well from Cooper with the added bonus he can hunt like an arctic fox jumping high into the air and diving head first into the grass to kill mice hiding underneath. We thought at first, he was play hunting and laughed at him being so dramatic. However this week the evidence has made it clear there was something to his dramatics.

I have enjoyed this trip down memory lane, reminding me of the many blessings we have received just in the form of faithful family dogs. I hope it has reminded you of times God has blessed you in interesting ways bringing you protection, warning, guidance and direction in your life. If you have a testimony make sure to share it. Anything from God edifies (uplifts and enlightens) His people. There will be someone out there that needs it.

 May God bless you.

 We need each other

‘Your faith will help me, and my faith will help you.’ Romans1:12

Next time you take a walk in the woods stop and think about what is taking place right under your feet. As the roots of the trees connect with each other they form a support system, using a network of fungi to communicate. One has access to water, another to nutrients, and another to sunlight. No single tree has it all, but together they can grow, thrive, and withstand the storms of life. ‘Then we will grow in every way and be more like Christ, the head of the body. Christ holds it together and makes all of its parts work perfectly, as it grows and becomes strong because of love’ (Ephesians). Some of us independent types have difficulty with this concept. We want to fly solo until we crash, and then we realize our need for: 1) Encouragement. Even Paul needed cheering on: ‘Everyone in Asia has turned against me, especially Phygelus and Hermogenes. I pray that the Lord will be kind to the family of Onesiphorus. He often cheered me up and wasn’t ashamed of me when I was put in jail. Then after he arrived in Rome, he searched everywhere until he found me’ (2 Timothy). 2) Sympathy. Be sympathetic (Colossians). We all need to be understood and have our feelings validated. But sometimes we are in such a hurry to fix people we dont have time to sympathize with them. 3) Grace. ‘Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others’. What motivates us to extend grace to others? God’s grace to us! Remember, you will never be asked to extend more grace to someone than God has already extended to you.
