AUSTRALIAN RESTORATION NEWS May 22
AROUND AND ABOUT THE CENTRE PLACE
By High Priest Paul J. Gage, of Independence, Missouri
May Greetings from the Centre Place to all of you wonderful Saints in Australia,
If it seems that time is flying by, remember that the Lord said he would cut time short in Matthew 24:18- 21. This thought is also found in Mark 13:2-23, Romans 9:28; Doctrine and Covenants 52:3 d and 83:e-g. While some of these scriptures are to the Jews, as Jesus says, we must all be ready when those times come upon us.
We have had a fairly mild winter this year and are now into the beauties of spring. Most Branches around the USA and especially in the Centre Place are back to full schedules as far as services and activities are concerned. The Conference of Restoration Elders (CRE) sponsored a very good “Spring Gathering” April 8-9 at the Center Place Restoration School (CPRS)/Waldo Avenue Restoration Branch. All services can be viewed on the CRE website, eldersconference.org.
The Pastors of Zion (POZ) is sponsoring the annual Restoration Branches Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper at CPRS/Waldo on Sunday, May 1, 2022. This service along with the weekly services can be viewed on the Waldo Avenue RB web site. Just type in Waldo Avenue live stream.
May is a special month, in that many countries celebrate a Mother’s Day.” I believe in Australia it is called “MUMS DAY. So, HAPPY MUM’S DAY” to all the Mum’s in the land down under. We all know how important our Mum’s are to every aspect of life. There are many references to mothers in the Scriptures. Where would we be without Eve, Ruth, Mary, mother of Jesus and so many others? Make a list of at least ten mothers named in the Scriptures that made a positive difference in the lives of their families and the work of the Lord. I have already named three.
The missionary groups under the CRE are still active with some missionaries getting vaccinated and going to Africa and the Philippines. The Domestic Outreach Council of the CRE is active here in the USA.
Centre Place Restoration school is concluding its 30th year of operation. Enrollment is up and much of the school is in the process of remodeling. The sanctuary has been completed.
God bless and keep each of you in His arms of Love.
RICHES FROM THE SCRIPTURES
By Elder Neil Kerswell, of Queensland, Australia
Vol 5 Chapter 14 What is a Luke Warm Life
Recently a friend on Face Book, Amanda, mentioned that in a bible study she is doing, someone asked the question, what does a lukewarm life look like? I thought about it for a while and went over the quoted scripture in my mind and felt with God’s help I could try to answer the question and maybe other people would give their thoughts also, building a clearer picture and more complete answer to the question she asked. This is part of the scripture that was shared.
[Revelation 3:15] I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot; I would thou wert cold or hot. [Revelation 3:16] So then because thou are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew thee out of my mouth.
I shared the following: Amanda, in answering your question, to my understanding a luke warm Christian, is a luke warm life in the Lord, one that is only partially engaged and partially committed, doesn't always honour God, doesn’t always go the extra mile, isn’t always in the right Spirit. An example I was given years ago, a Submarine Christian that surfaces up in the light on Sundays, then dives again into various levels of darkness/wrong doing during the balance of their lives. The sobering thought is that we are all to one degree or another like this because we do the wrong things on a regular basis, what makes us a hot life for God is when we repent on a regular basis and recommit every day seeking with all our hearts to honour God with every facet of our being. Easter is a great time to do so as Christians everywhere remember that Christ gave his life and on the 3rd day took it up again because all humanity needed a helping hand. May we all who believe seek to live a better, kinder life, because, when we are in the service of our fellow man, we are only in the service of God.
I enjoyed God’s assistance when giving this answer and knew that I needed it as much as everyone else. I am thankful to Amanda for presenting the question, especially at this time of year. May you all be blessed, who read this is my prayer in Christ’s name, Amen.
CHRIST RIDETH INTO JERUSALEM ON A COLT; THE FOAL OF AN ASS
By Elder Murray Broughton, Kelvin View Branch, Euroa, Victoria
Matthew 21 V 1-14
1 And when Jesus drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and they were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,
2 Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find a colt tied; loose it, and bring it unto me; and if any shall say aught unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of it; and straightway he will send it.
3 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, 4 Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy king cometh unto thee, and he is meek, and he is sitting upon an ass, and a colt, the foal of an ass.
5 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them; and brought the colt, and put on it their clothes; and Jesus took the colt and sat thereon; and they followed him.
6 And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strewed in the way.
7 And the multitudes that went before, and also that followed after, cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is he who cometh in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest! 8 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? 9 And the multitude said, This is Jesus of Nazareth, the prophet of Galilee.
10 And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money- changers, and the seats of them that sold doves; and said unto them,
11 It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.
12 And the blind and the lame came to him in the temple; and he healed them.
13 And when the chief priests and Scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children of the kingdom crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David! they were sore displeased, and said unto him, Hearest thou what these say?
14 And Jesus said unto them, Yea; have ye never read the scriptures which saith, Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings, O Lord, thou hast perfected praise?
Matthew 22 V 36 – 38
36 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
37 This is the first and great commandment.
38 And the second is like unto it; Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
Matthew 23 V 36-41
36 Then Jesus began to weep over Jerusalem, saying,
37 O Jerusalem! Jerusalem! Ye who will kill the prophets, and will stone them who are sent unto you; how often would I have gathered your children together, even as a hen gathers her chickens under her wings, and ye would not.
38 Behold, your house is left unto you desolate!
39 For I say unto you, that ye shall not see me henceforth, and know that I am he of whom it is written by the prophets, until ye shall say,
40 Blessed is he who cometh in the name of the Lord, in the clouds of heaven, and all the holy angels with him.
41 Then understood his disciples that he should come again on the earth, after that he was glorified and crowned on the right hand of God.
