LaFern Barsch Obituary/Service
LaFerne Ruth (Bryant) Barsch, 83, of Independence, MO passed away on April 13, 2022 of natural causes at Centerpoint Hospital.
A Memorial Service will be held at South Crysler Restoration Branch, 16101 Salisbury Road, Independence MO 64050 on Saturday, May 7. Visitation at 3:00 p.m. and Service at 4:00
LaFerne was born on April 2, 1939, to Vivian and Ruth (Merrill) Bryant in East Wilton, Maine. After graduating from Wilton Academy in 1956, she went on to Graceland College and received her RN from the Independence Sanitorium.
In 1969, she met Hans-Martin, and they wed in 1970, going on to have two children, Walter and Peter. They raised their family in Kansas City, KS, Brown Deer, WI, and Oswego, IL, before moving to Independence, MO, in 2006.
She worked at Trinity Lutheran Hospital in Kansas City, a convalescent home in Milwaukee, WI, Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL.
LaFerne was always devoted to her faith and attended the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She regularly volunteered at Lunch Partners, which helps to feed the underserved community in Independence.
LaFerne was predeceased by her parents, as well as siblings Vivian Bryant Jr, Lewis “Gene” Bryant, and June (Bryant) Lade. She is survived by her loving husband Hans-Martin, her sons Walter (Mary Legg) Barsch and Peter (Annie Engels) Barsch, and five grandchildren, Martin, Mary Jean, Samuel, Nathaniel, and Vivienne, along with her siblings Maurice Bryant, Lydia (Bryant) Brady, and George Bryant and a large extended family.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations should be sent to Lunch Partners at 700 W Lexington Ave Independence, MO 64050.
