Name Change:
L.I.F.T. = LOVE, INSPIRE, FOSTER, and TRANSFORM

Hello, Initiative and Unity Center Friends,

We have renamed the April 23rd IIAW event at Living Hope Church, L.I.F.T. Independence Strategies. The time is 1pm - 3pm at 2425 S. Crysler Avenue. L.I.F.T. stands for LOVE, INSPIRE, FOSTER, and TRANSFORM. All neighbors, church pastors, women's group leaders, youth leaders, and civic groups are invited. This is our first session of this kind and hope it will be the start of many sessions that will better our hometown.

At this session, LDS Independence Stake President, Dennis Cato will tell the story of the Independence Is Alive and Well Initiative (IIAW) and its work over the last 3 1/2 years. We will offer information, encouragement, and ways to connect people with similar passions and interests. It is our hope to build our volunteer and donor base to accelerate IIAW's progress in the community. We also want to hear from individuals and groups in the city who are passionately working for the same goal we are, to improve the quality of life in Independence by loving God and loving others. We are better together than we are alone. We want to work the right way and that takes knowledge and collaboration.

Some presenters will share details of a good trend that is developing in Independence. Others will have successful ideas to assist attendees in their neighborhood outreach. It is IIAW's aim to be a source for information, encouragement, inspiration, connecting and networking.

Below is a link to a 5-minute video to give a taste of what to expect at the meeting. Clicking on the link should take you to the video. If that doesn't work, copy and paste it into YouTube.

Also, for our volunteers, there is a meal prep for Beloveds this Saturday, April 23rd, 8-10am, Unity Center, 803 W. 23rd Street.
