Kirtland priesthood Gathering, September 22 - 24

Kirtland priesthood Gathering, September 22nd - 24th

Saints of the Most-High God,

I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and trust that you are joining us in the preparation for the Priesthood to gather at Kirtland, September 22nd through 24th. I am extremely encouraged by the number who have already pre-registered to attend, we are approaching 200 Priesthood (from approximately 60 branches).

There is a good number of Aaronic priesthood who have registered but they are considerably less than the Elders. I want you to know how important and needed your ministry is to the body as a whole. On Saturday night, Larry Cottrill will be leading the Melchizedec priesthood on the 1st floor and Steve Kropp will be leading the Aaronic priesthood on the 2nd floor of the Temple for the 1st half of our time together. This will allow us to focus on our specific ministries before we join together.

About ten days ago, Jay Havener and I were on a mission trip in Germany, and he woke up with a hymn on his heart. Jay shared with me that if all the priesthood could focus on the words of this hymn we would be richly blessed. In addition to this, the Sunday after I returned, this was sung at our congregation, which helped me understand the significance of the words of the hymn. The following are the words of the hymn, “Touch Me Lord”.

Touch me, Lord, with thy Spirit eternal;

Stir my soul to respond to thy call.

Take my love, for I offer it freely;

Hear my prayer as I thank thee for all.

Hear my prayer as I thank thee for all.

Teach me, Lord, to walk humbly before thee;

May I hasten thy will to obey.

Make me wise to see clearly thy purpose;

Keep me true to my calling I pray,

Keep me true to my calling I pray.

Fill me, Lord, with thine infinite power;

Make me firm, make me pure, make me whole.

With thy Spirit to strengthen and guide me,

I shall serve thee with all my soul.

I shall serve thee with all my soul. Amen

Again, if you have not registered, we would encourage you to do so by clicking on the following link: https://eldersconference.org/event/kirtland2023/ This will help us in preparing for the number in attendance. However, if at the last minute you find that you are able to go and have not registered, please come any way. Friday night, we will meet at the Kirtland Restoration Branch (9320 Chillicothe Rd./Kirtland, OH. 44094). The preparation service will begin at 8:00 p.m. for those who are able to attend. Saturday morning, the Aaronic Priesthood are requested to meet with me at the Mormon Church down the hill from the temple (8751 Kirtland Rd./Kirtland OH. 44094) at 7:30 a.m. Everyone else is to show up at the Mormon church at 8:00 a.m. for registration check in.

Some have asked about dress code: For Saturday’s activities at the Mormon Church, we would request a minimum of business casual. For our services in the Temple, we would prefer suits and ties.

Palmyra: For those who are able, we will meet outside the Mormon Visitors Center at Hill Cumorah (603 State Rte. 21/Palmyra, NY 14522 / (315) 597-5851) at 9:15 a.m. Friday morning. We will have an opportunity on Hill Cumorah for worship, prayers, and testimonies of the Book of Mormon. Please come prepared to participate. You may have already notified me that you are coming to Palmyra, but would you please once again notify me so that I may have an accurate count.

Whether you are attendings or not, whether you’re are priesthood member or not, a women or child, we need to unite together for this activity and show the Lord our desire to be one. I hope you will join us in the daily devotionals in preparation for our gathering. I have attached them for your convenience. For those who will be attending, I cannot emphasis enough brothers, that we must come in the spirit of humility and repentance and leave all agendas behind us focusing our eyes solely upon Jesus. Please continue to encourage others to attend under the same spirit and if I can assist in any way, do not hesitate to contact me at (816) 668-4521.
