 ZIONWORKS NEWS, SEPT. 20, 2023

A QUESTION THAT SHOULD NEVER BE ASKED?

As determined builders of Zion, should we have all things common? Should we have no poor among us? I think God would consider those questions to be faithless and disrespectful. The answer is simply, yes. In fact they should never be asked. If we are plunging ourselves into the reality of Zion, then we do have all things common. By definition, that is what Zion is and what it does (what we do). It is not our prerogative to question God’s wisdom or his definition of his city. OK, pretty simple, yes? This concept has had some failures in our own history. You are probably familiar with them and any trepidation based on past and possible future disasters is logical and to be wisely considered. However the unequivocal Instruction to have all things common remains unchanged. What we may not see is the extreme wisdom, cooperative planning and celestial application God charges us with and entrusts us with. He charges each one of us with this measure of uncompromised responsibility and the system will fail if there is any greed, lack of “team-playing” or personal aggrandizement in the mix. Any failures in the past can probably be traced to these faults. Never-the-less, again, God tells us that Zion will be characterized by, among other characteristics, all things common and no poor among us. It is a challenge so tough and so full-time that He entrusts with that we can consider ourselves not only maximally challenged, but also, maximally entrusted. We believe that He has already prepared the way for us to accomplish any task He assigns us.

As we work together, grow together, uphold each other and watch what unfolds, this extreme challenge may never get any easier---we can never become lax or complacent. But we can enjoy the fellowship, the growth and the fulfillment that accompanies this level of Zionic endeavor.

REPORT OF SPIRITUAL OCCASION

Last Saturday morning, thirteen of us met at Susan and Fred Bass’ place to cut, clear and stack wood and brush. There was rain in the forecast, yet the crew showed up. Even with some sprinkles, the weather was perfect and the wooded lot was starting to look like a park before noon. Late in the morning there was an unexpected quiet when both chain saws took a brief break at the same time. It became very obvious to us at that time that this was an environment prepared by God for us to stop and lay hands on and pray for those in need of physical healings and other burdens. We felt His invitation. The prayers that were poured out were certainly not only from the depths of the souls, but also obviously Spirit-directed. I have never experienced this. As stated, the horses quietly came and attended this session and the sun came out and shone on Melissa’s face as hands were laid on her and she was prayed for. Almost each one was prayed for in this manner. I hope we will never forget, and thank you to those who also made written account of this occasion.

Here is Debi Waters account:

It was a glorious morning! The weather was perfect for our planned workday at Susan Bass’s. She had lots of branches from downed trees that we were going to work together to clean up so that they could be burned. We had two chainsaws going and then the rest of us were putting branches and wood in different piles. These type of workdays makes Zion feel real to me. Several of the people working came to help despite having handicaps of their own. After several hours of working, we stopped to pray for myself and Jimmy Musgrave, but we realized that everyone who was there had difficulties and needed to be lifted up for a father’s blessing. We all laid hands on each one in turn, seeking the divine touch of our Heavenly Father for each situation. Praise to Jesus for answering our needs! It truly was a few hours living Zionically.

CALENDAR

Here is a repeat of Howard and Laura’s news from last week for this coming Sunday’s, 9-24-23, meeting. 2:00 PM at Central branch, 919 S. Delaware, Independence

Our next meeting we will primarily focus on populating the Zionworks’ website. We need all hands on deck. Our mission through the website is to create community and to show love by helping others, while revealing and enacting God’s instructions for making his kingdom on the earth a reality now. The website will be the easiest way for people to get information to achieve those goals. During the meeting there will be a brief “google docs” lesson for those that aren’t familiar with that platform. Each committee can then start brainstorming for the resources/information that they want to include under their topic. If you have a hotspot (there is no internet at the church), bring a laptop to the meeting. Your committee can develop a shared “google doc” that everyone can read and edit/suggest edits. Once finalized the information can then be shared with Rich so he can populate the website with the information we provide to him. Uncertain times are ahead but we have been given all of the information that we need to thrive, not just survive.

More meeting agenda: Prayers for those in need, Brief world and national update, Select next work day, New business, After adjournment: Bartering table, Visiting, Show-and-tell

OF IMMEDIATE IMPORTANCE

Nancy Williams is still in critical condition and needs prayers.

Three hours ago, Tili Ayala’s belongs were stolen in a car that was also stolen. She notified us—we prayed. At 11:12 PM, Tili reported: “The car was disabled by the police and the thieves got arrested. Good night.” (Any questions about prayers and answers?!)

Stock up while you can. Food shortages are a life and death manner.
