Invitation to All Sisters in Christ in Preparation for the Solemn Assembly September 2020

CRE Leadership Testimony on Calling for a Solemn Assembly

By Inspiration of the Holy Spirit-
On December 27-28, 2019, the Chairman of the Conference and the Coordinating Council of the Conference, set aside a 24-hour period to pray and fast in order to seek the direction of the Lord for the Conference planning of the year 2020.  On the morning of December 27, a dream was received that brought counsel to this group of men that the Lord desired to call a Solemn Assembly, in accordance with the instruction given in the book of Joel, chapters 1-3.
After considerable prayer and discussion, there was common consent amongst the 7 men present for the call of a Solemn Assembly.  One member was absent and endorsed this call later.
In the intervening months, there has been continued fasting, prayer, discussion, and study.  It is our testimony that the call for a Solemn Assembly has been so directed by the Lord, and confirmed by the Holy Spirit.
-          We believe this call to assemble together is for all people, of all ages, in harmony with the passages in Joel, 2:16-17.
-          We believe this call to assemble is for all who are part of this gospel founded in 1830, and fully reorganized again in 1860.
-          We believe this call to assemble is for all who are willing to repent and come unto Jesus Christ.
-          We believe this call to assemble is for all who will share with a broken heart and a contrite spirit (D&C 17:7b).
-          We believe this call to assemble is for all who will seek for God’s purpose in their life, and have a desire to ‘spread the gospel of the kingdom unto all nations’ before the end shall come.
We now invite each of you to prayerfully consider and prepare your hearts to gather in a solemn assembly this September. For now, we ask that you simply keep the time period of September 20 thru September 27 available as a possible timeframe.
Further details concerning the solemn assembly are not available at this time. However, we will be discussing the Solemn Assembly at this year’s Conference and with other groups and will begin sharing more details in July.

Dream
12/27/2019
Seventy Richard Neill
Early on the morning of December 27th, 2019, I had a dream.  I believe the dream occurred around 5 AM just before awaking.  I arose before 6 AM and I could still recall the dream in detail.  I went to our dining room table and wrote the experience down.  This is my experience.
I was in a large body of people.  The size of the room was like the size of the CPRS auditorium.  I was aware the room of people were excited because the room was filled with the Spirit of revelation.  The Spirit restrained those who would prophesy and not be of the Spirit of the Lord.  I do not know how long the dream lasted.  Since I was an observer I only know that I was watching and feeling the excitement as well.
As I was watching I was directed to look at the book of Joel in the Old Testament to have a better understanding of what was taking place.  (I read from Joel after the dream ended)
Joel 1:14-15     "Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land (the church} into the house of the Lord your God, and cry unto the Lord.  Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is at hand..."
Joel 2:15-16     "Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly; Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts; let the bridegroom {Christ} go forth of his chamber, and the bride {the church} out of her closet."
Joel 2:25     "I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten..."
Joel 2:28-30     "And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: and also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my Spirit.  And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth..."
Joel 2:32     "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered; for in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call."
Joel 3:16-17     "The Lord also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake, but the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.  So shall ye know that I am the Lord your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain; then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more."
As the dream continued I was now sitting at a table.  There were men of understanding at the table.  I clearly saw my son, Andrew, not as he looks now as an adult but like when he was 8 or 9 years old.  His face shined with a brightness, and as he looked at me he had a bright countenance and a smile on his face.  I then woke up from the dream.
As a matter of observation.  I knew during this entire dream that I was having a spiritual experience.  The words of Joel call the people to repentance.  I cannot adequately explain how I felt during this time.  I had feelings of great excitement but also feelings of trepidation.  The excitement was for what the Lord wanted to do.  The trepidation was whether we would be up to the task of doing it.  I tell you I was feeling much more to that we are ready.

Personal Testimony Sister J. Abigail Cool :
This forum is not the place in which to divulge my entire testimony yet suffice it to say, that due to the path the Lord has allowed me to walk, I have witnessed first hand and heard with my own ears that the members long to work together no matter what part of the vineyard that each other comes from. This solemn assembly is for all to come together - CoC, Restoration, RLDS, LDS, Bickertonite, Protestant, and anyone that desires to fulfill what Jesus taught us in his example of prayer: "Thy kingdom come, on earth as it is in heaven." May we together,  in humility and repentance to seek the grace, forgiveness, and mercy of God for our past inability to work together as one in Christ. We have allowed far too many breaches, even breaches of the covenant to be broken after the example and love of Jesus Christ. May we come together and lay our pride, our defenses, and our divisions at the feet of the Savior and be the example of reconciliation to a world that aches to have relationships restored. May we fast according to the fast the God has called us to, to fast from strife, debate, and smiting with the fist of wickedness and instead fast to heal the broken and wounded in our midst, for Isaiah says that "they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places; thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in." Isaiah 58:12 Let us begin to heal the breach of covenantal love that has long since been a part of our heritage since the early days of the church, for the promise is that "Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily, and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy rearward. Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noonday; And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones; and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not." Isaiah 58:9,10,11
As a member and your sister in the Lord,  ask that we not focus on 'from whom' this call came, but accept the call as from the God who calls us to repent and love one another.

Please share with sisters in your congregations and abroad.
