The Intensifying Storm

From: Dwight Burford

The Intensifying Storm

Dear Family and Friends,

Please take time to watch the videos linked below.  I believe they are very significant.  The first one is approx. 16 minutes.

This second video is from the same pastor and is a follow-up to the first.  Its about 20 minutes.

The testimony of the pastor in these videos resonates with me for a number of reasons, including a recent experience illustrating a similar warning.  It came to me on June 17th while I was on a hilltop in SW Iowa during the church senior high camp I attended there with my youngest daughter.  Here’s a summary of that experience:

Each year the campers and staff hike up to a hilltop on the camp grounds to watch the sunset and then have a prayer and testimony service. There were about 70 or so of us up there this year. Shortly after the service began, the winds picked up and it was quite hard to hear people pray and testify.  So one of the camp directors stepped forward and asked everyone to join her in prayer that the winds would quiet down. I had been praying silently they would calm, so I was glad we were invited to pray together that the winds would be stilled. But the winds seemed to grow even stronger, to the point it was nearly impossible to hear someone speak less than 5 ft away.  After several people prayed, I was compelled to step forward and speak boldly to the group. I told them that it had been impressed upon me that the strong winds we were experiencing were a sign of what was about to come upon this country, and like those judgments, these winds would not be turned back. In that very moment I was also reminded of how Jeremiah was told to stop praying for his people because God’s judgments would not be turned away from them because they refused to turn back to Him (e.g. Jeremiah 7:16, 11:14, 14:11,12…). Just like then, God’s judgments are now coming upon this land through different agents.  I simply could not keep myself from speaking these words. Then on Saturday morning at the camp dedication service I told the camp of a special testimony the Lord gave me as we came down off the hill that Wednesday evening.  I was given to understand that even though I could not hear many of them praying and testifying as they stood on the windy hilltop, I would know that in the midst of the strong winds that would soon blow across this country they were still praying and God would hear them. And I assured them that they could know that I too would be standing in the midst of these same winds to pray for them.

The week before the camp, while in a time of prayer, I was told “this is it.” With the strong winds on the hilltop I now had a physical understanding of what this short message meant.  As others are confirming, a time of judgment will soon sweep over this land. Please prayerfully consider these testimonies and prepare accordingly.  And may we all be ever ready to give an answer for the hope that is in us.  A thousand years with Jesus Christ in His kingdom, Zion, awaits all those who receive the Holy Ghost and endure to the end (I Nephi 1:187-189).  May none miss it.

Blessings,
Dwight Burford

Alicia Negaard Testimony

From: Alicia Negaard

Alicia Negaard Testimony

Many of you prayed for me recently.  I would like to share the results of those prayers.
We were in Tucson, Arizona. I woke on Monday morning in a lot of pain.  I have had children and I have had kidney stones and this pain exceeded both of those experiences.  I hurt from the top of my head to the soles of my feet.  Each muscle and joint hurt.  My family decided to take me to the emergency room.  I was able to text a few of my co-workers at CPRS and tell them of the situation and they added me to their congregation’s prayer list.
When I got to the emergency room I was taken immediately to a room.  They told me the COVID 19 patients were presenting just like I was, pain everywhere.  I was surprised that the ER was empty (later I found out only private insurance was allowed there).  They started an IV and gave me Toradol.  Usually Toradol eliminates all pain for me.  Didn’t help much at all this time.  We then proceeded to wait for a CT scan.  I called another elder and asked him to pray for me and he said he would.
This is where things get strange.  More than an hour had elapsed waiting on the CT scan.  And I heard a female voice laughing outside of my room.  I heard her say, “That reference is 3 Nephi 4:2”  I wasn’t sure that I heard correctly and quickly prayed, “Lord, if that was important you better repeat it.”  Again the laughing voice, “That’s 3 Nephi 4:2.”  I texted my husband and asked for him to look up the reference.  He did and this is it, “And there was not any man who could do a miracle in the name of Jesus, save he were cleansed every whit from his iniquity.”
I do not know which of the people praying for me has been cleansed every whit from their iniquity, but I am very grateful for your repentance.  Because I began to get better from that very minute on.   When I was dismissed, I mentioned to my nurse that I was grateful and wanted to let the woman know how much the scripture meant to me.  He informed me that NO ONE there would have mentioned any scripture while at work.  And that NO ONE had been laughing anywhere patients were.
 I was able to return home without incident.  My COVID 19 test was negative.  I have been very, very blessed.
Thank you all so much.

Navajo Support Group Needs Help

The Navajo Support Group Needs Your Help

     As you have seen on the news, the Navajo Nation has been hit hard by Covid 19.  As a result of restrictions placed on them, they have great needs.

          Supplies must be collected by July 10.  On July 11, we will meet at the Clements home at 9 am, 30306 E. Pink Hill Rd, Grain Valley, MO, to sort the donated items into bins for each family.

Spiritually Won Knowledge Part 4

From: B S TURNER Owner

Spiritually Won Knowledge Part 4

As we continue to study how to achieve spiritually won knowledge I pulled a few more excerpts from the book The Endowment Characteristic #2

As Curry is tying up this characteristic he asks a question that should have all of us thinking…..
“How can the Lord say more than this?  He invites you to share the immense treasures of His intelligence, His wisdom, His truth, His enlightenment.
Some have already enjoyed these things in part.   Others have very much need to receive them. (Characteristic #2)”

There is a great story in the Book of Mormon that makes this very clear…..an Angel asks Nephi a simple question “do you know the meaning of the tree that thy father saw?” and Nephi had a clear understanding not only of what the tree meant but the entire vision…..
64 And I answered him, saying, Yea, it is the love of God, which sheddeth itself abroad in the hearts of the children of men; wherefore it is the most desirable above all things.
65 And he spake unto me, saying, Yea, and the most joyous to the soul.
66 And after he had said these words, he said unto me, Look! And I looked, and I beheld the Son of God going forth among the children of men:
67 And I saw many fall down at his feet and worship him.
68 And it came to pass that I beheld that the rod of iron, which my father had seen, was the word of God, which led to the fountain of living waters, or to the tree of life; which waters are a representation of the love of God;
69 And I also beheld that the tree of life was a representation of the love of God.
1 Nephi 3

And Curry is correct there are many that have need to share in the wisdom and intelligence of God instead of leaning so much on their own wisdom and understanding.

“He has hope for His people.  Thousands have come together in the center areas of Zionic gathering, yet they are far from being of one heart and one mind.  None among you say that this is Zion as it ought to be. (Characteristic #3)”

Reading this characteristic in conjunction with the other characteristics and the scripture in Nephi has me asking; is it possible that we are holding on to different rods? Maybe….I think that the real answer is that we are holding onto the rod of iron and that is it, we are just holding on. We are not moving towards the tree of life. We have become stationary and are not moving forward but we stand in the midst of darkness waiting for???

Why do I say that? Let’s read a bit further in Characteristic #3
“The great Father would provide for you thru farsighted action and accomplishment on your part.  Yet the years go by, and so little is done, when compared with what ought to be.  You lack wisdom and foresight in these matters, and you scarcely try to find the wisdom that your loving Father would give to you were you to cease trusting so much in your own selves, and were a faithful body of men, deeply concerned about this lack of progress, to come together asking for their eyes to be opened that they might see how to do these things, even under the difficulties of this present hour. (Characteristic #3)”

We have the answer and it lives within us…..
Genesis 6:53 And he also said unto him, If thou wilt, turn unto me and hearken unto my voice, and believe, and repent of all thy transgressions, and be baptized, even in water, in the name of mine Only Begotten Son, who is full of grace and truth, which is Jesus Christ, the only name which shall be given under heaven, whereby salvation shall come unto the children of men; and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, asking all things in his name, and whatsoever ye shall ask it shall be given you.

Knowing that this scripture is true we must be missing something that is preventing us from receiving the clarity of wisdom, intelligence and enlightenment. I think that David understood what part of the problem was / is

Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instruction

I think there is further insight in this passage from Corinthians….

1 Corinthians 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
We might be receiving the spirit of the world as it is noted here and not the Spirit of God, yes it is possible that we are being deceived. There are some that would doubt this as they are so sure of the path that they are on. I have come to know that the more I learn I am realizing the less that I know.

As I continue to study I find that the scriptures make it so very clear……

Moroni 10:5 And if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost; and by the power of the Holy Ghost, ye may know the truth of all things.
Even as I read The Endowment I can see how Curry was blessed by the promise as noted in the previous scripture.
“Surely, as God lives, every effort that anyone may make or that many may make in this direction of seeking an endowment of special light on difficult problems, and responsibilities and projects will be richly rewarded. (Characteristic #3)”

Asking with a sincere heart with real intent is far different than coming to God with an idea asking him to bless it.
We must approach all difficulties and problems with a wisdom that would tell us to come before God as a child would ask a parent for assistance. Ponder that for a moment….

God Bless
Brian Turner

AUSTRALIAN RESTORATION NEWS JULY 2020

   July, 2020.
.
Around and About the Centre Place          by High Priest Paul J. Gage, Independence, Missouri

Greetings to all the Dear Saints in Australia,

I trust the good Lord is continuing to bless each of you with a daily outpouring of His Divine Love. As we sing, "There's no love to me, like the Love of Jesus" I pray that also, out of that great love He is blessing you very abundantly, for Jesus states in John 10:10, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

As everyone knows, activities and events have been greatly curtailed for the last 4-6 months and thus it is with the usual summer events in the Centre Place and around the country. A number of Restoration Branches are back to having real life services while also live streaming. Several websites are listed in each Tidings of Zion..
In the midst of the virus and other kinds of wild happenings, we still hope and pray for Zion. That is our hope for the future of the world. The hymn entitled, "Onward to Zion," was written by Prophet Frederick Madison Smith. Brother Smith had a strong desire for Zion and did much to promote it, but one time he remarked, "Zion, the difficult, beckons us on." Why would he say that? Well, you would have to ask him, but it is easy to imagine the discouragement that he and other prophets have felt, when the Saints did not respond as the Lord desired. This can be discerned by reading the messages from God that came through F.M. Smith, D&C 132-138 and also D&C 140 through Israel A. Smith.

Zion, to many, is like a mirage. Something you see, or think you see somewhere off in the distance, but you never can get to it. We could say that Zion has been a mirage to the Restoration since 1830, always beckoning, but off in the distance because of all the clouds we allow to keep it away. A mirage is an optical effect, a trick, if you will, that certain atmospheric conditions play on our eyes. Satan is good at producing mirages to distract us from God's purposes. May we  shake off the coals from our garments and the cataracts off our eyes and wake up real soon to find ourselves in Zion and see it as it is, an Ensign to the world with Jesus the Centre.
The missionary groups continue to function as much as possible and there will hopefully be trips made in the months ahead  to Australia, Canada, England, Germany, Honduras, India, Kenya, Nepal, the Philippines, possibly Russia and other places.
God be with each of you as you endeavour to keep the gospel torch brightly burning in Australia.

Riches from the Scriptures            by Elder Neil Kerswell, Queensland, Australia.

Vol 4 Chapter 11       “Bind the Word Upon  Your Heart
Today we will be looking at a couple of Scriptures that give wise counsel about the Word, and Wisdom in general.

Proverbs 6:16-23
[Proverbs 6:16] These six things doth the Lord hate; yea, seven are an abomination unto him;
[Proverbs 6:17] A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
[Proverbs 6:18] A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
[Proverbs 6:19] A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
[Proverbs 6:20] My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother;
[Proverbs 6:21] Bind them continually upon thine heart,  and tie them about thy neck.
[Proverbs 6:22] When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
[Proverbs 6:23] For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life;

First let’s look at what the Lord hates. 1: a proud look – pride comes before a fall and is distasteful for us when seen in those, who are possessed of it. I believe there is also good pride~ an example is when we are proud of our children growing up. 2: A lying tongue – the devil is the father of lies and when we get caught up in such practice, we sometimes don’t realise that in that moment we are a devil to the Devil doing his work. Some people tell lies in order to catch out others in a lie, thinking they are justified.  Lying is never acceptable. If we are the Lord’s we must be like him, for He cannot lie. 3: Hands that shed innocent blood -  there are some reasons that justify us in killing our fellow man, like war and to protect our lives from someone who seeks to take our liberty from us. We are allowed to defend our country and liberty and we can protect our own life and the lives of our family and friends. Murder is never acceptable and is an abomination with a heavy price to be paid. 4: a heart that deviseth wicked imaginations – the reason God flooded the Earth in Noah’s day was because the imaginations of the hearts of the people were set upon evil continually and there was bloodshed throughout the land. When our hearts are set upon righteousness our imaginations are Faith, believing in something good before it has come to pass, leading to holy achievements. 5:  feet that be swift in running to mischief – we must be monitoring our own lives always, making sure we are not spreaders of gossip and rumours about others, as soon as we hear of someone’s weakness or sins seeking to break them down instead of building them up and helping. 6: a false witness that speaks lies – This one is very important in as much as it relates to our testimony about other people. When we bare false witness about another person we can destroy their reputation, and alienate them from others and possibly get them into trouble with the law of the land ~ all of which was not their fault or problem to bare. Woe unto those who do such things. 7:  he who sows discord among brethren – We have all known someone who is a catalyst for trouble and fights between people, this is one of the reasons God allowed for Teachers in the priesthood ~ to stop back biting between the brethren. We need peace makers at all times. We are counselled in this scripture to remember what our Father and Mother  taught us about God and life, and to bind them upon our heart and to tie them about our neck. This in turn will guide us and keep us safe. The commandments are a lamp ~ the law is a light to show us right from wrong.
Proverbs 3:1-8
[Proverbs 3:1] My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments;
[Proverbs 3:2] For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.
[Proverbs 3:3] Let not mercy and truth forsake thee; bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart;
[Proverbs 3:4] So shalt thou find favor and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
[Proverbs 3:5] Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
[Proverbs 3:6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
[Proverbs 3:7] Be not wise in thine own eyes; fear the Lord, and depart from evil.
[Proverbs 3:8] It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.
If we are filled with Mercy and Truth, we are promised we shall find favour in the sight of God and man. We must trust God completely, and not rely upon our own understanding. Our way is faulty and if we turn our back on God’s counsel we will ultimately fail and enjoy much less than we were created for. Let us acknowledge God in everything we do, so we may receive His direction. If we are humble and respect God and keep His ways, it shall be health to our navel and Marrow to our bones. We hear this one in other scriptures and especially where it mentions Marrow to the bones, indicates health over time, because what happens in our marrow today affects the making of blood and all the incredible things our blood does in keeping us alive and fighting off disease and infection. We all need this to survive.
[Proverbs 3:9] Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase;
[Proverbs 3:10] So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
[Proverbs 3:11] My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord; neither be weary of his correction;
[Proverbs 3:12] For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
[Proverbs 3:13] Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding;
[Proverbs 3:14] For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.
[Proverbs 3:15] She is more precious than rubies; and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
[Proverbs 3:16] Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honor.
[Proverbs 3:17] Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
[Proverbs 3:18] She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her; and happy is everyone that retaineth her.
Wisdom and Understanding bring all the blessings of this scripture, and are precious above all that the world can offer us. Let us remember always the Godly things our parents have taught us. Let us always remember the Word of God.  May it be written in our hearts and in our minds. Sometimes when we hurt ourselves or something goes wrong, our default setting is to use bad language.  In those instances we are drawing on our worldly database because that’s what we have taken in as we have listened to work mates etc. If we take in God’s word on a regular basis, then as a result we are filled with the Holy Spirit. Then Patience, Love and Virtue will be our default setting in life. You, like me, still have a long way to go and we rely upon the Merits of Christ always for Salvation. May you be blessed is my prayer in Jesus name Amen.

Being Healthy:                    submitted by Sr.Monique Hummel
For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things.
The Bible says, ‘physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.’ But that doesn’t mean that taking care of our bodies isn’t important. It means we must stay in balance. We need to take the time to make sure we’re both spiritually and physically healthy. If we neglect our physical health, we can find ourselves in a position where we struggle to do the things God’s called us to do. God can heal us, but He also wants us to take responsibility for looking after our health. God created each of us, and we need to look after the things He’s created. But we also need to make sure that looking after our physical health doesn’t become an obsession. 1 Timothy says that ‘physical training is of some value’, but it’s not the most important thing. We need to be focused on our spiritual health. That means building a relationship with God, fulfilling our purposes, and becoming more like Jesus. In the same way that we can train and strengthen our physical bodies, we can train to become godly. We can work to produce the fruits of the Spirit (you can find a list of these in Galatians 5). The Bible tells us that our bodies are ‘temples of the Holy Spirit’ (1 Corinthians). We need to make sure that our bodies are physically a good home for the Spirit, but also that our hearts are a good home too. If our hearts are full of ungodly things, we’re not providing a good home for the Spirit. Assess whether you’re healthy, and then make any necessary lifestyle changes.
What Now?
Think of one way you can improve your physical health and one way you can improve your spiritual health. Then put those into action in the month ahead.
