Spiritually Won Knowledge Part 2
I
am sure that many of you have read the Lectures on Faith. I find that
these lectures are truly inspired and answer many of the questions that
we may have in our walk with Christ.
To
continue searching how to achieve the Spiritually won knowledge that is
promised to us I wanted to back up a minute and pull a section from
Lecture 6 that describes our very nature……
Lecture 6:4 Such
was and always will be the situation of the saints of God, that unless
they have an actual knowledge that the course that they are pursuing is
according to the will of God, they will grow weary in their minds and
faint;
Having an actual knowledge that we
are on the right course…with the way it is today how are we able to
discern the right path? While the answer is easy that actual process can
be hard for many.
As you can see in LoF 6:7
we need to sacrifice all things. The reason for the sacrifice is so that
we have a clear path to hear and see the workings and will of Jesus
Christ. No this does not mean that you will have to live in a cardboard
box along the side of the road……what this means is that you need to put
first things first….in other words put God first in all things and
everything else will fall into place. A well used scripture to say the
least…..and to the point…..
Matthew 6:38 Wherefore,
seek not the things of this world but seek ye first to build up the
kingdom of God, and to establish his righteousness, and all these things
shall be added unto you.
As we understand the sacrifice that we are to offer up we have a greater understanding of why a sacrifice at all.
Lecture 6:7 Let
us here observe, that a religion that does not require the sacrifice of
all things, never has power sufficient to produce the faith necessary
unto life and salvation;
In Lecture 6:11 we get a little more insight that is right in line with Brother Curry’s thoughts.
Lecture 6:11 All
the saints of whom we have account in all the revelations of God which
are extant, obtained the knowledge which they had of their acceptance in
his sight, through the sacrifice which they offered unto him: and
through the knowledge thus obtained, their faith became sufficiently
strong to lay hold upon the promise of eternal life, and to endure us
seeing him who is invisible; and were enabled, through faith, to combat
the powers of darkness, contend against the wiles of the adversary,
overcome the world, and obtain the end of their faith, even the
salvation of their souls.
Simply put
sacrifice those things that would take the place of God / Christ in your
lives and reach out and allow the Spirit to teach you marvelous things
like good judgement, clear thought and the ability to see though the
eyes of Jesus Christ and not our own!….and as said in the scripture
above through the knowledge obtained your faith becomes stronger and
stronger! As your faith becomes stronger you are taught even more!
Psalms 119:66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge; for I have believed thy commandments.
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
What has happened to the Church and with many of the people is accurately described in Isaiah 5….
Isaiah 5:13 Therefore
my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge; and
their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with
thirst.
Make no mistake I believe that we
are bound in captivity today in a way that exceeds all of the Apostles
together when they were in prison. And many times we do not see how we
are bound….take a scripture check and you will quickly see what I am
talking about.
You see if we were to truly have
the knowledge that we need to have we would not be divided as we are.
That is a form of captivity – captivity is easily defined for me
scriptural…..it is when I am in such a state that I am not able or
willing to see, hear or do the work of the Lord in the fullness
required.
2 Corinthians 4:6 For
God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in
our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in
the face of Jesus Christ.
The counsel that
is given here is invaluable if you understand what it means to be
fruitful in every good work. This is work that builds and edifies each
one of us…..which circles around to the second great commandment.
Colossians 1:10
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful
in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
A
continuation of Lecture 6 ties it all up for us – can we make these
sacrifices so that our hearts will be open to spiritually won
knowledge?
Lecture 6:5 For
a man to lay down his all, his character and reputation, his honor and
applause, his good name among men, his houses, his lands, his brothers
and sisters, his wife and children, and even his own life also, counting
all things but filth and dross for the excellency of the knowledge of
Jesus Christ, requires more than mere belief, or supposition that he is
doing the will of God, but actual knowledge: realizing, that when these
sufferings are ended he will enter into eternal rest; and be a partaker
of the glory of God.
Understand Brothers and Sisters what is yours spiritually and understand how to use it to glorify God and the Son.
God Bless
Brian Turner
