Owe No Man

Paul writes to the Romans a letter of instruction. In the 13th chapter he is counseling that we should owe no man anything but to love one another. By doing this the law is fulfilled.

Romans 13:8
Therefore owe no man anything, but to love one another; for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

The counsel for this simple request is explained in verse 9 – these are things that we should have memorized by now….they should be second nature to us in our daily walk.

Paul states that it is all wrapped up in loving thy neighbor. Because if we truly love our neighbor we will never seek to do ill to each other. And as other writers in this day have indicated the time is now to embrace this….

Romans 13: 11-14
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
The night is far spent, the day is at hand; let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to gratify the lusts thereof.

How true is this verse – while we have been sleeping the robbers have come in and hewn down the very walls that we were to protect. Protect with our prayers, our fasts and watching out for our neighbor willingly without being compelled…..

Who knew that an entire nation – no, the entire world would come to a dead stop due to something as small as the genome size of the corona virus. The Lord did and he was telling us in so many ways and means….I think that I was more interested in myself that yourself.

Romans 14: 7-9, 19
14:7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord; whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
14:9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

No doubt there are times that we have been living for ourselves – even now as we see what is happening with the demonstrations that turn into rioting…..have we not been warned about these things?
As long as we live unto ourself we will be the only person that we can turn to and count on, I don’t think that I like those odds…..consider the power, strength and peace that would be available to us if we truly live unto the Lord….

Earl Curry asks about the outpouring of spiritual gifts and guidance in his book The Endowment:
“The time of God's preparation and the great day of the Lord draws near. Has He not clearly said that Zion shall be an unmistakable sign of His coming? Has He not said that the gospel of His kingdom shall be preached in all the world as a witness and then shall the end come? Has He not promised mighty spiritual power to redeem His people? Has He not said that He will thresh the nations by the power of His spirit? Lo, He has said all these things and more and He must now arise to maintain His cause. You are therefore on the threshhold of a time of mighty spiritual outpouring.”

I take you back to what Paul is writing……
Romans 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

To edify each other, to strengthen each other and to become a part of the body of Christ so that all of our brothers and sisters will be ready for the spiritual outpouring. As Paul’s teaching continues we see that those that are strong ought to bear the burdens of the weak. But we must do this humbly, not seeking anything for ourselves. This is so that we will all be ready for that which the Lord has prepared for a people that are truly ready to receive!

Romans
15:1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
15:2 Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good to edification.
15:3 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.
15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
15:5 Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according as was Christ Jesus;
15:6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As a church we were / are called. Do you hear the master’s voice?

1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

God Bless
