Spring Sessions at Owl Hollow Farm 2021

 From: Owl Hollow Farm

Spring Sessions at Owl Hollow Farm

While the past year was full of challenges we never expected to face, we are looking at 2021 with hope and cautious optimism. It is our hope to safely offer spring sessions at Owl Hollow Farm. Please read the following details in their entirety as many of our processes and procedures have changed due to COVID-19.

We currently plan to offer spring sessions to limited participants from April 19th – June 14th. At this time, we will focus on accepting participants with social, behavioral and/or physical needs who will greatly benefit from our equine-assisted mentoring program. In order to allow for proper social distancing, we will not be accepting family groups who plan to share sessions at this time. Individual applications must be submitted for multi-sibling households.

Participants must be able to:
·         Properly wear a mask at all times
·         Ride without the need of a side-walker
·         Remain with their mentor and assistant and follow directions at all times

Parents should walk their child to the entry gate near the parking lot to sign in prior to each session and return to their car for the duration of the session. Our parent area will remain closed during spring sessions. Participants should bring their own water bottle marked with their name, which will be placed in a centrally located area. Water bottles will no longer be provided. Mentors and assistants will brush, saddle and prepare therapy horses for each session in order to limit contact with equipment. All equipment will be sanitized after each session.

At all times, OHF will follow guidelines from the Jackson County Health Department and the CDC. If your child exhibits one of the following:
·         Fever of 100 degrees or higher OR
·         Two or more of the following symptoms: cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, sore throat or loss of taste or smell OR
·         Has been exposed to a positive case of COVID-19 within the last 10 days,
the individual should not attend their session, and we ask that you notify us as soon as possible.

The total cost for a nine-week session is $180 ($20 per week use fee). Payment for the first four weeks ($80) is due prior to the start of sessions with the remaining balance ($100) due prior to the fifth week. If your participant arrives more than 15 minutes late to a session, or misses one session entirely, they will no longer be guaranteed a spot in our program.

Applications for Spring Sessions will open on March 15th at www.ohfkids.com. The deadline to submit an application for Spring Sessions is March 26th. All participants accepted into our spring program will be notified by April 5th.

We appreciate your continued support and understanding during these uncertain times, and we look forward to a safe return to Owl Hollow Farm!

Cathy White, Owl Hollow Farm Director
