AUSTRALIAN RESTORATION NEWS
SEPTEMBER 2022
AROUND AND ABOUT THE CENTRE PLACE
By High Priest Paul J. Gage,
of Independence, Missouri
God's Blessings upon all the Saints of Australia,
I trust the good Lord God Almighty has been and continues to bless each of you in His special way, as you go through each day. I doubt there is a person in the world who does not have daily struggles in dealing with life. How marvelous it is that we have Jesus Christ as our Savior, Shepherd, Light, Life, and all the other names by which He is known. I love, so much, the promise in DC 83:15C. It tells us that there is no part of our lives that go without His watch care and protection. Also, angels around us to bear us up.
Brothers and Sisters, of all ages, don't ever forget how valuable and precious you are, as one individual, to our Lord, Jesus Christ. He knows our every struggle, doubt, fear, concern, etc. and is always true to His promise. He was praying for each of us in John 17:20. As He was praying for the disciples then, He prayed for you and me, because it says, " For them also which shall believe on Me through their word." We know the disciples, after Jesus ascended into Heaven, took the gospel to the world and the Church was established in many areas, and the rest is history. We belong to the Church of Jesus Christ today because someone shared the same gospel they had received from another and so the gospel is now to us in our day to share with all we can.
Jesus came to save us from our sins, so He knew we would sin. Many times we get down on ourselves and feel unworthy. That is when we need to go to God in mighty prayer and repentance and ask forgiveness for our sins. It is a promise that when we sincerely repent, He will forgive us. I like the scripture in Philippians 1 especially verse six. Read the whole chapter and be revived in Christ. You can pull up the lyrics to this song on the net. Look for "He who began a good work in you."I also like I Corinthians 10:13 for the promise of Jesus. Many people misquote this verse by leaving off the last sentence. He shows us the way out of temptation. That verse is the same in the King James Version as it is in the Inspired Version, so no follower of Christ has to remain "lost," because the "way out" is to run to Jesus.
The reunion and camp season is history... His Story! Do you have a testimony of "His Story?" Share it. The Pastors of Zion Summer preaching series has also concluded. It ran from June 12 - August 21... There were some excellent sermons during the series as well as at the In-town reunion. The one service was a youth service with a number of very good testimonies from the youth about their camping experiences this past summer. Many services were live-streamed and are available for viewing. The website is:

Centre Place Restoration School has started the fall session under the leadership of Brother Dan Schoenemann. This is his seventh year. Enrollment is up, which is great news. They have a matching fund program to continue upgrading the facility. The sanctuary, pews and lighting are completed.
September is a very important month, for the Church, because it was September 21, 1823, that Joseph Smith Jr was visited by an angel and told about the plates, from which came the Book of Mormon. You can find Joseph's testimony of this marvelous experience in Church History, Volume 1, Chapter 2. This would be a good time for
each church member to review this part of our history. If you don't have the Church History Volumes, you can pull it up on CenterPlace.org and go to the library.
September 24-25, 2022 is the CRE Priesthood Assembly at the Kirtland Temple in Kirtland, Ohio. Sessions will go from Saturday morning until Sunday morning. There will be a two-hour worship service in the Temple on Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The missionary groups are all still functioning but continue to be somewhat hindered by the virus and government restrictions. Local priesthood continue to provide ministry for those Saints in their care.
May The Lord be Praised for all the blessings we received that week! To God be the Glory! God bless and keep you til we meet again.
RICHES FROM THE SCRIPTURES
By Elder Neil Kerswell, of Queensland, Australia
Vol 5 Chapter 18 Solomon’s Request
Today we are looking into the life of Solomon the son of David. If you were given the opportunity by God to ask for whatever you wanted, what sort of things would you ask for? If you have read this scripture recently you will already know what would be a great choice and will be looking forward to reading this account to relive Solomon’s experience in full. For those who haven’t read this one before or haven’t seen it in a long time, I hope you are expectantly ready to read.
2 Chronicles 1:1 And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.
2 Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.
3 So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness.
4 But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath-jearim to the place which David had prepared for it; for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
5 Moreover the brazen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the Lord; and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.
6 And Solomon went up thither to the brazen altar before the Lord, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.
7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast showed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
9 Now, O Lord God, let thy promise unto David my father be established; for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
11 And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king;
12 Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honor such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
What a marvelous promise God gave unto His servant Solomon the King. Solomon’s request pleased God greatly and moved God to give him one of the greatest gifts a King has ever received. Solomon didn’t ask for selfish things to benefit only himself. Rather he asked for the wisdom and knowledge to enable him to rule and Judge God’s people in righteousness for the benefit of the kingdom of Israel, God’s covenant people. What he maybe didn’t know at the time is that this one gift would help to bring to pass all the things that other people ask for anyway. Wisdom and Judgement were going to be the key to unlocking a multitude of blessings upon Solomon and his people, making him one of the most respected and wealthy kings that ever lived.
2 Chronicles 1:13 Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.
14 And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen; and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
15 And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycamore trees that are in the vale for abundance.
16 And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn; the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.
17 And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty; and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.
Other countries would come to Solomon to learn of him how to be successful and prosperous, because his fame spread far and wide throughout the earth. Imagine having so much treasure as a result of God’s gift that there was not enough room to store it in the city, therefore it was heaped in mounds outside the city and guarded. Let’s read an example of Solomon’s wise judgement.
1 Kings 3:16 Then came there two women, that were harlots, unto the king, and stood before him.
17 And the one woman said, O my lord, I and this woman dwell in one house; and I was delivered of a child with her in the house.
18 And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also; and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.
19 And this woman's child died in the night, because she overlaid it. 20 And she arose at midnight, and took my son from beside me, while thine handmaid slept, and laid it in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom. 21 And when I rose in the morning to give my child suck, behold, it was dead; but when I had considered it in the morning, behold, it was not my son, which I did bear.
22 And the other woman said, Nay; but the living is my son, and the dead is thy son. And this said, No; but the dead is thy son, and the living is my son. Thus they spake before the king.
23 Then said the king, The one saith, This is my son that liveth, and thy son is the dead; and the other saith, Nay; but thy son is the dead, and my son is the living.
24 And the king said, Bring me a sword. And they brought a sword before the king.
25 And the king said, Divide the living child in two, and give half to the one, and half to the other.
26 Then spake the woman whose the living child was unto the king, for her bowels yearned upon her son, and she said, O my lord, give her the living child, and in no wise slay it. But the other said, Let it be neither mine nor thine, but divide it.
27 Then the king answered and said, Give her the living child, and in no wise slay it; she is the mother thereof.
You wouldn’t mess with this King would you? His gift allows him to see to a depth, that is a mystery to most. After hearing his method and judgement you may think you could do similar, however the seed has already been planted in your heart as you read the account. God’s wisdom once heard and understood is simple that even a child could understand. However, in the moment that Solomon was faced with, the light of God through the gift of Wisdom fired inside him and gave unto him what he needed in the very hour and minute, in which it was required, making His judgement an original idea that met the need exactly as required. It doesn’t get much better than that. I hope you have enjoyed reading and pondering these things together.
May you be blessed in Christ’s name, I ask Amen.
JESUS SPEAKS IN PAPABLES – EARTHLY STORY WITH HEAVENLY MEANING
By Elder Murray Broughton, Kelvin View Branch, Euroa, Victoria
Luke 15 V1:32
1 Then drew near unto him, many of the publicans, and sinners, to hear him.
2 And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners and eateth with them.
3 And he spake this parable unto them, saying,
4 What man of you having a hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine, and go into the wilderness after that which is lost, until he find it?
5 And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing.
6 And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbors, and saith unto them, Rejoice with me; for I found my sheep which was lost.
7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, who need no repentance.
8 Either, what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?
9 And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and neighbors together, saying, Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I had lost.
10 Likewise I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repenteth.
11 And he said, A certain man had two sons;
12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods which falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
13 And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land and he began to be in want. 15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks which the swine did eat; and no man gave unto him.
17 And when he came to himself he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee;
19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son; make me as one of thy hired servants.
20 And he arose and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22 But the father said unto his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his finger, and shoes on his feet;
23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat and be merry;
24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
25 Now his elder son was in the field; and as he came, and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.
26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant?
27 And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because hath he received him safe and sound.
28 And he was angry, and would not go in; therefore came his father out and entreated him. 29 And he answering, said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment; and thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with friends.
30 But as soon as this thy son was come, who hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
31 And he said unto him, Son thou art ever with me; and all that I have is thine. 32 It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad; for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; was lost, and is found.
The Scattered Saints
WHAT KIND OF MEMBER ARE YOU?
By Hazel Ford
Are you an active member?
The kind that would be missed,
Or are you just contented that
Your name is on the list?
Do you attend the meetings?
And mingle with the crowd,
Or do you stay at home complaining
Ever long and loud?
Do you take an active part?
To help the Church along.
Or are you satisfied to be
The kind to ‘just belong?’
And do you ever visit
A member who is sick,
Or leave the work for just a few
Then talk about the clique?
An Unspoken Bible ~ Author Unknown
His name is Bill. He has wild hair, wears a T-shirt with holes in it, jeans, and no shoes. This was literally his wardrobe for his entire four years of college. He is brilliant. Kind of esoteric and very, very bright. He became a Christian recently while attending college.
Across the street from the campus is a well-dressed, very conservative Christian church. One day Bill decides to go there. He walks in with no shoes, jeans, his T-shirt, and wild hair. The church service has already started and So Bill starts down the aisle looking for a seat.
The church is completely packed, and he can't find a seat. By now people are really looking a bit uncomfortable, but no one says anything. Bill gets closer and closer and closer to the pulpit and, when he realizes there are no seats, he just squats down right on the carpet. (Although perfectly acceptable behavior at a college fellowship, trust me, this had never happened in this church before!
By now the people are really uptight, and the tension in the air is thick. About this time, the minister realizes that from way at the back of the church, an Elder is slowly making his way toward Bill. Now the Elder is in his eighties, has silver-gray hair, and a three-piece suit. A godly Christian man, very elegant, very dignified, very courtly. He walks with a cane and, as he starts walking toward this boy, everyone is saying to themselves that you can't blame him for what he's going to do.
How can you expect a man of his age and of his background to understand some college kid on the floor? It takes a long time for the man to reach the boy. The church is utterly silent except for the clicking of the man's cane.
All eyes are focused on him. You can't even hear anyone breathing. The minister can't even preach the sermon until the Elder does what he must do. And now they see this elderly man drop his cane on the floor. With great difficulty he lowers himself and sits down next to Bill and worships with him, so he won't be alone.
Everyone chokes up with emotion. When the minister gains control, he says, "What I'm about to preach, you will never remember. What you have just seen, you will never forget. Be careful how you live…
“You may be the only Bible some people will ever read.”
