LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD AUGUST 4, 2022
Greetings to the Saints Around the World,
As the year slips away we might recall some “sayings.” “As the World Turns,” “And the beat goes on,” “One day at a Time,” or even, “Make the world go away, get it off my shoulders.” When we try to live in the Kingdom while in this world it sometimes gets frustrating and difficult to deal with, and many people have withdrawn themselves from family, friends, the church, etc.
Elijah was one of those, at least for a short while. In I Kings 19, after defeating the priests of Baal, Elijah was in a cave hiding from Jezebel. God asked him twice, “What doest thou here, Elijah? You can read Elijah’s response in verse 14. Do you ever want to give up because you think there are no others involved in the Lord’s work? Remember, any one of us, with the Lord, is a majority.
The answer is to always stand with Jesus Christ, because it is the right thing to do and Jesus has promised to always be with us. Want a challenge? Today’s Daily Devotional, “Jesus and You in 2022” is Ezekiel 2-3, but also read chapter one. Talk about a mighty calling from the Lord. He was not only living in the kingdom of God, but was given the tremendous duty to preach strong words to his fellow Israelites, which, of course, they rejected.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 5:15-18 “I give unto you to be the salt of the earth” and “I give unto you to be the light of the world.” The light so we can let it shine before this world, that they my see your good works and glorify you Father who is in heaven.”
As we await the fullness of God’s Kingdom on this earth, our calling is to live for Jesus and let Him live in us. He taught us to pray, “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is done in heaven.”
The Lord bless and keep you
Paul Gage
