Patrick Anthony “Tony” Muzzillo Obituary

“Tony” Patrick Anthony Muzzillo went home to the Lord suddenly on July 21st. He was born February 24, 1982, and was a normal little boy, rambunctious and happy. All our lives changed on September 13, 1986, when he was hit by a motorcycle and severally head-injured. And, blessed by the Lord, he survived. After several weeks in the hospital, and lots of therapy, he became the boy we all loved. He developed a great love for baseball, and baseball cards and memorabilia. He played in Little League, managed his high school baseball team, and became unofficially “inspirational manager” for the Mules baseball team, with his many quotations. Someone suggested he write a book, so he did. He met many big-League players, but his favorite was Buck O’Neal. His wife, Melissa, had gifted him with a trip to Cooperstown for Buck’s induction. Unfortunately, they never got there. On July 21st he had a massive seizure, which stopped his heart.

He was also into Boy Scouts, attending from Cubs all the way through Eagle Scout. He was the youngest boy in his troop to reach that goal.

He was employed by Sodexho foods for nearly ten years and made many friends there.

He met his wife, Melissa, in an online discussion, and communicated with her for five years before he actually met her in person. They got engaged on that first meeting, and were married July 26, 2014, in Herkimer, New York, and lived in Watertown, NY.

He leaves behind his wife Melissa, of nearly eight years, his parents, Mike and Sue Muzzillo, of Warrensburg, and his younger sister Angela Florese-Saberi, of Somerville, MA, a Boston suburb. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Rosemarie Millen, of Richfield, NY. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Pasquale Muzzillo, CA, and Marjorie Muzzillo, of Denver, CO. and his maternal grandparents, Ward “Jack” Phillips and Mildred “Ruth” Phillips of Warrensburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice, or the Negro Leagues Museum in Kansas City.

A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ, Warrensburg Restoration Branch, on August 20th, with visitation at 1 PM, followed by the service at 2 PM.
