LIVING IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD FEBRUARY 16, 2023
God’s great blessings be yours as you continue in His Kingdom,
What day of the year do you most look forward to? Hopefully, each day we wake up and realize that our loving Heavenly Father has given us the gift of life, to live another day in His Kingdom. How often do many people take for granted that they will wake up the next morning?
We all know that God is the One and only One that has the power to give and take life.
We also know that that call can come at any time. Thus the need for our every action and thought to be in accord with God’s will. We also are aware that the Holy Scriptures, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants are literally full of God’s counsel and guidance. Yet, we can gain further knowledge, information and testimonies from others who have experienced God in various ways.
Today, I will share with you from a few of those sources which you may not be aware of in your living in the Kingdom of God. A man known as “Brother Lawrence,”was a French monk back in the seventeenth century. Through extreme self-discipline he learned to practice the presence of God at all times. The following are some quotes from the book, “The Practice of the Presence of God,”
“At any moment and in any circumstance, the soul that seeks the companionship of God may find Him.” “The time of business does not with me, differ from the time of prayer, and in the noise and clatter of my kitchen, while several persons are at the same time calling for different things, I possess God in as great tranquility as if I were upon my knees at the sacrament service.” “We should establish ourselves in a sense of God’s presence by continually conversing with Him. It is a shameful thing to quit His conversation to think of trifles and fooleries.” “We ought to act with God in the greatest simplicity, speaking to Him frankly and plainly, and imploring His assistance in our affairs, just as they happen.” Some will say, “This can’t be done.” I say, how about
Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, juat to name a few? Find a scripture that would verify Brother Lawrence’s statements.
In a book entitled, “The Promise of the Spirit,” the author, William Barclay states: “The Christian lives in the Spirit. The Christian is led by the Spirit and walks in the Spirit, and if led by the Spirit, it means that all his decisions are taken in the guidance if the Spirit.”
Another book is “Sent Forth to Witness,” by Z. Z. Renfroe. If you are lacking the desire to witness for Jesus Christ, as we live in His Kingdom, this is a must read book. It is packed with the testimonies of a Seventy who was on fire for the Lord and stayed on the move because of the many requests for his ministry.
We may not be on the move so much, but still have the obligation to witness of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Someone once said, “Spread the Gospel everywhere you go, and if necessary, use words.” When asked how he prepared to share the Gospel, an old time minister said, I study myself full , pray myself empty and leave it to the Lord.”
God bless and keep you encircled in His arms of love.
