FASTING, PRAYING, STUDYING AND LIVING FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD
OCTOBER 28, 2021
As the Apostle Paul states in Colossians 1:2-4 "To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love to all the saints," You can change the word Colosse to the location where you live. As Brother Doug Smith said at the worship service at Waldo Avenue Sunday, October 24, 2021, "God loves YOU and wants YOU to be a part of His Kingdom !"
So, as November looms on the horizon, we are reminded of the many blessing of God to each of us and we renew our efforts to serve Him faithfully. We should always give thanks with a grateful heart to the Most High God for His continued outpouring of His blessings.
In 1990, Patriarch Walter Weldon had an experience in which he was awakened and told to get out of bed and write. He was given twelve statements, each beginning with, "Tell My People..." One of the statements was, "Tell My People This is the Day of Your Preparation." Brother Weldon incorporates many scriptures as well as his own wise counsel in each chapter.
In this chapter, on page 60, if you have his book, he quotes from Doctrine and Covenants 108 which tells us to come out of Babylon. He describes Babylon as wickedness-even spiritual wickedness and says that "We must rearrange our priorities by spiritual preparation. Our prayer life must be consistent. What should we pray for? The Spirit of wisdom. Pray for the Holy Ghost to be in our lives daily....Feast upon the words of Christ, for they will tell us all things that we should do. We need to pray for our friends and neighbors.
As we continue to discipline our lives through prayer, fasting and studying we are more able to live the Gospel and be the Salt and light that Jesus has given us to be, as stated in Matthew 5:15-16. No matter where you live or what struggles of life you deal with, you can be most assured that your God is before you, with you, and behind you. So press on toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14.
God be with you
