Marlys Joyce Bainter - Obituary
Marlys Joyce Bainter, age 87, passed away on October 22, 2021 at University Health Lakewood Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by family.
Marlys was born on March 15, 1934 to Ernest and Gertrude “Trudy” Webberley in Porland, OR. She was raised on a farm with her 3 sisters in Camas, WA. Marlys was united in marriage to Dale Wallace Bainter on June 27, 1954 in Portland, OR. They were blessed with 5 children: Dale, Randy, Dean, Julie, and Doug. They lost their son, Randy, shortly after birth and raised their other children on Vashon Island, WA. They gathered to Independence, MO in 1976.
She enjoyed music, gardening, nature, cooking, traveling, decorating, reading, but most of all family and serving the Lord.
She was the 5th generation in her family to be a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and attended South Crysler Restoration Branch.
Marlys was preceded in death by her son, Randall Wallace Bainter, her parents, Ernest and Gertrude Webberley, and sisters, Winona (husband Ray) Wheeler and Martha (husband Richard) Chisholm. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Dale Bainter; children, Dale (wife Cindy), Dean (wife Karen), Julie (husband Gordon) Hitch, and Douglas; sister, Ann (husband Dan) Smith; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren, and many more family members.
Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 pm on Saturday, October 30 at South Crysler Restoration Branch, 16101 East Salisbury Rd, Independence, MO 64050. Memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm. She will be buried at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in Marlys’ name to Center Place Restoration School, 819 West Waldo Avenue, Independence, MO 64050. 816-252-1715 www.cprsgoldeneagles.com
