FASTING, PRAYING, STUDYING, AND LIVING FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD

SEPTEMBER 23, 2021

Fall Greetings to God's People All Over the World,

Yes, the world is changing as the seasons are  changing. All in preparation for the return of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Our daily task continues to be to hold fast to the Rod of Iron and stay on the Old, Old Path.

As the world seems to be looking for something that will not satisfy, we, of the faith, look to Jesus Christ, described in Hebrews 12:1-2 Wherefore, seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,  Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."

So we are encouraged to run with patience the race that is set before us, that is the daily race to prepare ourselves and others for the Kingdom. The race which includes all the things Jesus has commanded us to do, which of course, includes fasting, praying, studying and living for Zion.

It is easy to fall into the routine of "things as usual" and miss out on the real importance of why we are doing the things we do. Sometimes we just have "church as usual" and find out we might be slowing slipping away from the Lord. We are given this counsel in I Peter 5:8-11 Be sober. Be vigilant because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour; Whom resist, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. To him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

I recently heard the scripture Ephesians 6:10-16 read, but the reader failed to also include verses 17 and 18. Verse 11 says to put on the whole armor of God. Verses 17 and 18 provide the offensive part of the  armor, that is the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God and prayer.

This Friday and Saturday September 24-25, are the Fall Gathering sponsored by the Conference of Restoration Elders (CRE). The theme is "We Shall Come Rejoicing, Bringing in the Sheaves." Services will be live streamed from Waldo Avenue RB and zoomed as well. Information can be found on the CRE website at eldersconference.org

God bless each of you in your ongoing efforts to "seek first to build up the kingdom of God and to establish His righteousness."
