AUSTRALIAN RESTORATION NEWS

SEPTEMBER 2021

SEPTEMBER 2021

AROUND AND ABOUT THE CENTRE PLACE

By High Priest Paul J. Gage, of Independence, Missouri

God's Blessings upon all the Saints of Australia,

I trust the good Lord God Almighty has been and continues to bless each of you in His special way, as you go  through each day. I doubt there is a person in the world who does not have daily struggles in dealing with life. How  marvelous it is that we have Jesus Christ as our Savior, Shepherd, Light, Life, and all the other names by which He  is known. I love, so much, the promise in DC 83:15 C. It tells us that there is no part of our lives that go without  His watch care and protection. Also, angels around us to bear us up.

Brothers and Sisters, of all ages, don't ever forget how valuable and precious you are, as one individual, to our  Lord, Jesus Christ. He knows our every struggle, doubt, fear, concern, etc. and is always true to His promise. He  was praying for each of us in John 17:20. As He was praying for the disciples then, He prayed for you and me,  because it says, " For them also which shall believe on Me through their word." We know the disciples, after Jesus  ascended into Heaven, took the gospel to the world and the Church was established in many areas, and the rest is  history. We belong to the Church of Jesus Christ today because someone shared the same gospel they had received  from another and so the gospel is now to us in our day to share with all we can.

Jesus came to save us from our sins, so He knew we would sin. Many times, we get down on ourselves and feel  unworthy. That is when we need to go to God in mighty prayer and repentance and ask forgiveness for our sins. It  is a promise that when we sincerely repent, He will forgive us. I like the scripture in Philippians 1 especially verse  six. Read the whole chapter and be revived in Christ. You can pull up the lyrics to this song on the net. Look for  "He who began a good work in you."I also like I Corinthians 10:13 for the promise of Jesus. Many people  misquote this verse by leaving off the last sentence. He shows us the way out of temptation. That verse is the same  in the King James Version as it is in the Inspired Version, so no follower of Christ has to remain "lost," because the  "way out" is to run to Jesus.

The reunion and camp season is history....His Story! Do you have a testimony of "His Story?" Share it. The Pastors  of Zion Summer preaching series has also concluded. It ran from June 13-August 15. There were some excellent  sermons during the series as well as at the In-town reunion. The final service was a youth service with a number of  very good testimonies from the youth about their camping experiences this past summer. Many services were live streamed and are available for viewing. The website is: http://www.waldoavenuerestorationbranch.org.

Centre Place Restoration School has started the fall session under the leadership of Brother Dan Schoenemann.  This is his sixth year. Enrollment is up, which is great news. They have a matching fund program to continue  upgrading the sanctuary, pews, and lighting.

September is a very important month, for the Church, because it was September 21, 1823, that Joseph Smith Jr was  visited by an angel and told about the plates, from which came the Book of Mormon. You can find Joseph's  testimony of this marvelous experience in Church History, Volume 1, Chapter 2. This would be a good time for  each church member to review this part of our history. If you don't have the Church History Volumes, you can pull  it up on CenterPlace.org and go to the library. September 24-25, 2021 is CRE Fall Gathering in Independence,  Missouri. Some information was in the last Tidings of Zion.

The missionary groups are all still functioning but continue to be somewhat hindered by the virus and government  restrictions. Local priesthood continue to provide ministry for those Saints in their care.

May The Lord be Praised for all the blessings we received that week! To God be the Glory! God bless and keep you til we meet again.

RICHES FROM THE SCRIPTURES

By Elder Neil Kerswell, of Queensland, Australia

Vol 5 Chapter 6 Samuel the Prophet Part 2

Last time we met we looked into the birth of the Prophet Samuel and the experience of his mother Hannah which  led to Samuel being lent to the Lord for his life in service. Let us read on.

Hannah's song -- The sin of Eli's sons -- Samuel's ministry -- Eli reproveth his sons -- A prophecy against Eli's house.

[1 Samuel 2:1] And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the Lord, mine horn is exalted in the Lord; my  mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoiced in thy salvation.

[1 Samuel 2:2] There is none holy as the Lord; for there is none besides thee; neither is there any rock like our God.

[1 Samuel 2:3] Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth; for the Lord is a God of  knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.

[1 Samuel 2:4] The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.

[1 Samuel 2:5] They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased; so that the  barren hath borne seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.

[1 Samuel 2:6] The Lord killeth, and maketh alive; he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up. [1 Samuel 2:7] The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich; he bringeth low, and lifteth up.

[1 Samuel 2:8] He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among  princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory; for the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and he hath set the  world upon them.

[1 Samuel 2:9] He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no  man prevail.

[1 Samuel 2:10] The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them; the  Lord shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.

Hannah prayed this beautiful prayer in thanks for all God had done for her and her family. She was filled with  God’s Spirit which overflows into prophetic views and understanding of what had happened and what was coming  in the future. She was not the first and definitely not the last to be filled with God’s gift in this way. Eve prophesied  of what would come of her and Adam, Mary Prophesied of her life and the life growing within her. Hannah was just  one of a long line of women God had and would bless in special ways.

[1 Samuel 2:11] And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child did minister unto the Lord before Eli the  priest.

[1 Samuel 2:12] Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the Lord.

[1 Samuel 2:13] And the priest's custom with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's  servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;

[1 Samuel 2:14] And he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest  took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.

[1 Samuel 2:15] Also before they burnt the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give  flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of thee, but raw.

[1 Samuel 2:16] And if any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and then take as much as  thy soul desireth; then he would answer him, Nay; but thou shalt give it me now; and if not, I will take it by force.

[1 Samuel 2:17] Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the Lord; for men abhorred the offering of  the Lord.

Eli’s sons were breaking God’s commandments in the way they interfered with the offerings, some might say that  that were only changing things a little and how does it matter. However, it does matter to God. This is why in the  church today we should not alter or change in any way the teachings that God has given us in restoring His  church to earth. The ways of men must never take the place of God’s will for us. There are consequences which  severely weakens God’s people. Those of us who have lived long enough have literally seen the decay that falling  away / Apostasy has brought upon those who let go of doctrine, order and truth.

[1 Samuel 2:18] But Samuel ministered before the Lord, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.

[1 Samuel 2:19] Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came  up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.

[1 Samuel 2:20] And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The Lord give thee seed of this woman for the loan  which is lent to the Lord. And they went unto their own home.

[1 Samuel 2:21] And the Lord visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the  child Samuel grew before the Lord.

When Hannah was blessed, she gave all that she had received in her son Samuel to the Lord. Eli blessed Hannah  for what she had done and God honoured that blessing and gave her plenty of children. Samuel was in learning  and preparation for the work that would soon be his.

[1 Samuel 2:22] Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women  that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation.

[1 Samuel 2:23] And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people. [1 Samuel 2:24] Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear; ye make the Lord's people to transgress.

[1 Samuel 2:25] If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him; but if a man sin against the Lord, who  shall entreat for him? Notwithstanding, they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the Lord would slay  them.

Eli did try to reason with his son’s for the evil they were doing, it was destroying the integrity of the peoples  offerings and setting a bad example for all who came to worship. His sons had sinned against God making the  place of worship a den of iniquity outside, which revealed the true nature of those inside. Who should have been  upholding the God of their fathers instead of sinning against Him.

[1 Samuel 2:26] And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favor both with the Lord, and also with men.

[1 Samuel 2:27] And there came a man of God unto Eli, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Did I plainly appear  unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt in Pharaoh's house?

[1 Samuel 2:28] And did I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to offer upon mine altar, to burn  incense, to wear an ephod before me? and did I give unto the house of thy father all the offerings made by fire of the  children of Israel?

[1 Samuel 2:29] Wherefore kick ye at my sacrifice and at mine offering, which I have commanded in my habitation;  and honorest thy sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the chiefest of all the offerings of Israel my people?

[1 Samuel 2:30] Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father,  should walk before me forever; but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honor me I will honor, and  they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

[1 Samuel 2:31] Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father's house, that there shall  not be an old man in thine house.

[1 Samuel 2:32] And thou shalt see an enemy in my habitation, in all the wealth which God shall give Israel; and there  shall not be an old man in thine house forever.

[1 Samuel 2:33] And the man of thine, whom I shall not cut off from mine altar, shall be to consume thine eyes, and  to grieve thine heart; and all the increase of thine house shall die in the flower of their age.

[1 Samuel 2:34] And this shall be a sign unto thee, that shall come upon thy two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas; in  one day they shall die both of them.

[1 Samuel 2:35] And I will rise me up a faithful priest, that shall do according to that which is in mine heart and in my  mind; and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed forever.

[1 Samuel 2:36] And it shall come to pass, that everyone that is left in thine house shall come and crouch to him for a  piece of silver and a morsel of bread, and shall say, Put me, I pray thee, into one of the priests' offices, that I may eat  a piece of bread.

God doesn’t muck around, He is straight and only tolerates evil for so long amongst his people before he takes  action, the source of the corruption in Israel had been identified, found wanting, put on notice and prepared with  warning of what was about to take place. Sadly although Eli was a much better man than his son’s, he had failed  to maintain order in the church in his day while he was in charge.

Chapter 3

[1 Samuel 3:1] And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was precious in  those days; there was no open vision.

The church in these days was much like the church today, a bare skeleton of what it really should be because of  apostasy in leadership. Samuel was to be the kick start the church needed.

[1 Samuel 3:2] And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim,  that he could not see;

[1 Samuel 3:3] And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the Lord, where the ark of God was, and Samuel  was laid down to sleep.

[1 Samuel 3:4] That the Lord called Samuel; and he answered, Here am I.

[1 Samuel 3:5] And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again.  And he went and lay down.

[1 Samuel 3:6] And the Lord called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.

[1 Samuel 3:7] Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, neither was the word of the Lord ye revealed unto him.

[1 Samuel 3:8] And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for  thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the Lord had called the child.

[1 Samuel 3:9] Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down; and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak,  Lord; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

[1 Samuel 3:10] And the Lord came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel  answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

[1 Samuel 3:11] And the Lord said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of everyone  that heareth it shall tingle.

[1 Samuel 3:12] In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house; when I  begin, I will also make an end.

[1 Samuel 3:13] For I have told him that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his  sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.

[1 Samuel 3:14] And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli's house shall not be purged  with sacrifice nor offering forever.

[1 Samuel 3:15] And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the Lord. And Samuel  feared to show Eli the vision.

[1 Samuel 3:16] Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.

[1 Samuel 3:17] And he said, What is the thing that the Lord hath said unto thee? I pray thee hide it not from me; God  do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide anything from me of all the things that he said unto thee.

[1 Samuel 3:18] And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the Lord; let him do  what seemeth him good.

[1 Samuel 3:19] And Samuel grew, and the Lord was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.

[1 Samuel 3:20] And all Israel from Dan even to Beer-sheba knew that Samuel was established to be a prophet of the  Lord.

[1 Samuel 3:21] And the Lord appeared again in Shiloh; for the Lord revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word  of the Lord.

Amazing what a difference a day can make, young Samuel has heard God’s voice and been given knowledge of  the end of Eli and his house. While being given an insight into what God required at his hand.

Samuel grew in the Lord much like we are promised line upon line, precept upon precept, here a little there a little.  I have always been amazed at verse 19 God was with him and nothing he said fell to the ground or in other  words. Samuel was in harmony with God’s Spirit and would not ask anything amiss, therefore God always  supported Samuels’s words in power.

What a blessing to Samuel, what a blessing upon the church and God’s people.

To go from a situation of virtual darkness into a sunrise of light. We need a blessing like this today. May you be  blest as you read to have God open your eyes according to the gifts of God unto you, is my prayer in Jesus  Name, Amen

THE LAST DAYS

From Elder Murray G. Broughton, of Euroa in Victoria, Australia

For as the light of the morning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west, and covereth the whole earth,  so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be. Matthew 24:27

And they shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. Behold, I speak unto you for mine elect's sake. For nation shall  rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom; there shall be famine, and pestilences, and earthquakes in  divers places. And again, because iniquity shall abound, the love of men shall wax cold; but he that shall not be  overcome, the same shall be saved. Matthew 24:29-31

And again, this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then  shall the end come, or the destruction of the wicked. Matthew 24:32

And immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her  light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven shall be shaken. Matthew 24:34

Although the days will come that heaven and earth shall pass away, yet my word shall not pass away; but all shall  be fulfilled. Matthew 24:36

And whoso treasureth up my words shall not be deceived. For the Son of Man shall come, and he shall send his  angels before him with the great sound of a trumpet; and they shall gather together the remainder of his elect from  the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Matthew 24:39-40

But of that day and hour no one knoweth; no, not the angels of God in heaven, but my Father only. But as it was  in the days of Noah, so it shall be also at the coming of the Son of Man. For it shall be with them as it was in the  days which were before the flood; for until the day that Noah entered into the ark, they were eating and drinking,  marrying and giving in marriage, and knew not until the flood came and took them all away; so shall also the

coming of the Son of Man be. Matthew 24:43-45

Two shall be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left. Two shall be grinding at the mill; the one taken  and the other left. And what I say unto one, I say unto all men: Watch, therefore, for you know not at what hour  your Lord doth come. Matthew 24:47-49

Therefore, be ye also ready; for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of Man cometh. Matthew 24:51

And then, at that day before the Son of Man comes, the kingdom of heaven shall be likened unto ten virgins, who  took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five of them were foolish.  They that were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them; but the wise took oil in their vessels with their  lamps. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made: Behold,  the bridegroom cometh! Go ye out to meet him! Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the  foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Lest  there be not enough for us and you, go you rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. And while they went  to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut.  Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us. But he answered and said, Verily, I say  unto you, You know me not. Watch, therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of Man  cometh. Matthew 25:1-12

We must be prepared, ready, and have thy Holy Spirit with us.

Now these things he spake unto them concerning the destruction of Jerusalem. And then his disciples asked him,  saying, Master, tell us concerning thy coming. And he answered them and said, In the generation in which the  times of the Gentiles shall be fulfilled, there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon  the earth distress of nations with perplexity, like the sea and the waves roaring. The earth also shall be troubled  and the waters of the great deep. Men's hearts failing them for fear and for looking after those things which are  coming on the earth. For the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And when these things begin to come to pass,  then look up and lift up your heads, for the day of your redemption draweth nigh. Luke 21:24-27

And what I say unto one, I say unto all: Watch ye, therefore, and pray always, and keep my commandments, that  ye may be counted worthy to escape all these things, which shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of  Man when he shall come clothed in the glory of his Father. Luke 21:36

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves,  covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy. Without natural affection,  trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good. Traitors, heady, high-minded,  lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. From  such turn away. 2 Timothy 3:1-5

Ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 2 Timothy 3:7

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to  seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, Speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their conscience seared as with a hot  iron, Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with  thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be  refused, if it be received with thanksgiving; 1Timothy 4:1-4

For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. For when they shall say,  Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall  not escape. 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3

Yea, the Lord, even Jesus, whose coming is not until after there cometh a falling away, by the working of Satan  with all power, and signs, and lying wonders. And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish,  because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who  privily shall bring in abominable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves  swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways, by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil  spoken of. 2 Peter 2:1-2

But concerning the coming of the Lord, beloved, I would not have you ignorant of this one thing--that one day is  with the Lord as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise  and coming, as some men count slackness, but long-suffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but  that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the  heavens shall shake, and the earth also shall tremble, and the mountains shall melt and pass away with a great  noise, and the elements shall be filled with fervent heat; the earth also shall be filled, and the corruptible works  which are therein shall be burned up. If, then, all these things shall be destroyed, what manner of persons ought  ye to be in holy conduct and godliness, Looking unto and preparing for the day of the coming of the Lord, wherein  the corruptible things of the heavens, being on fire, shall be dissolved, and the mountains shall melt with fervent  heat? Nevertheless, if we shall endure, we shall be kept according to his promise. And we look for new heavens  and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be  diligent, that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot and blameless, And account--even as our beloved  brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given unto him, hath written unto you--the long-suffering and waiting of  our Lord for salvation. (As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard  to be understood, which they who are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto  their own destruction.) Ye, therefore, beloved, seeing ye know before the things which are coming, beware lest ye  also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. 2 Peter 3:8-17

THE SCATTERED SAINTS ~ TESTIMONIES

By Susan de Gazman of Agno, Luzon, Philippines

I Before I entered and committed myself to a lifelong covenant with Jesus Christ, I asked myself “Am I ready, and am I  worthy to make this covenant?” These were two big questions that my mind kept on asking. I didn’t know that I was  seeking for a clear and big answer. As time passed by, I felt very disappointed in myself because I had told Brother Murray  that I wanted to be Baptized, and join the Church of Jesus Christ, and yet, my questions remained.

Try as I might, I could not find the answers to the two big questions that were always running through my mind. I knew  that it was wrong to have asked Brother Murray to be Baptized, before I was ready to become a part of the holy covenant.  I was so sorry. The only thing I could do was to pray for the answer. I prayed that one day, I would receive an answer to  my two big questions. Even though the questions were always there, I knew in my heart that I wanted to be part of His  covenant. My heart was telling me to go, but my mind was always reminding me of those two questions, “Are you ready?”  and “Are you worth it?”

Many days passed, and then one day while I was reading the sixth chapter of Matthew, my attention was drawn to the  words in verse 21. “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” I wondered if this was the answer to my  two big questions. I continued to read. In Matthew 8:22 the words “Follow me” spoke to my heart. I took a deep breath  and said, “Lord, thank you!” I know that he gave me the right verse to answer my questions.

I know, that surely, I’ve found myself. Now I don’t need to ask these questions anymore. I choose to follow, to serve  and accept His calling. The Lord is so great! I will keep his covenant and become His servant. Thank you, Lord, for  answering me. With this answer, my mind and heart are now one.

From G. Jones of Tandemtown, USA

When both of our girls were in their 11th year of high school, we sponsored foreign exchange students. The first  was when Kim was in the 11th grade, and we sponsored a girl from Germany. She was half German and half Korean. She had the strong head German attitude, but we managed to have a good year with her. During Lori’s  Junior year we sponsored a girl from Japan, and she fit right into our family. She was one (1) day older than Lori. She went home after the first year and requested to come back the next year and we said okay. So, we had her  for two (2) years. But when she came back the third time her grandmother passed away. Her mom would not  finance another trip, so we lost contact with her. Recently she became friends again on Facebook. She now has  two (2) daughters and the oldest one is studying English and we’ve offer to sponsor her when she’s able to come  to America to study. Yesterday Akari announced that she and her family would like to immigrate to America. We  are her family, and we care so much for. And if that becomes a reality then another person, we have touched will  be here with us. God has always provided for us! Love is the answer!
